  1. We've yet to be charged a corkage fee anywhere on a Royal ship, but I always spot the waiters some cash on our first night as a show of appreciation in advance.
  2. We were lucky to snag some Beach Club prices ranging from $59 to $79 on several cruises coming out of the pandemic. Not sure we're interested paying $200 bucks for the same experience. The free options look a lot more tempting at this point.
  3. The wine and cheese board is a big Meh with the missus and me...I wouldn't recommend it as there are plenty of free buffet nosh selections once you board the ship. We found the chocolate covered strawberries to be underwhelming as well...cheap institutional chocolate is used.
  4. This is great news! We sail May 7 on Allure out of Galveston.
  5. Happy Sailing! The missus and me have never concerned ourselves with somebody else's sexual preferences...we only care about getting good seats to all the shows onboard the ship! Carpe Diem, baby!
  6. I hope you eventually get this resolved to your satisfaction...obviously a frustrating experience. Yet another reason why I use a travel agent...they always fix these types of weird situations for me behind the scenes.
  7. AT&T allows for free calling and texting in Mexico and Canada. Note: Roatan is in Honduras, so be sure to have your phone in Airplane mode when visiting that port. As mentioned in this thread, be sure to use Wi-Fi calling while on the ship.
  8. Assuming you've already booked it through the Cruise Planner, you can make a reservation time for the Beach Club restaurant on embarkation day at Chops. Happy Sailing!
  9. Chocolate covered strawberries are only delicious if the quality of both the strawberries AND chocolate are top-notch...the ones on the ship are second rate.
  10. Uber or Lyft from a Ft. Lauderdale hotel to Port of Miami worked great for us on our Symphony sailing in 2019. 35 minutes from pickup to drop-off was our experience.
  11. I think any sort of mini-speaker is just plain rude behavior in a public venue with the exception of one's cabin. Earbuds anyone?
  12. All of the cruise line stocks are debt-laden "zombies". They have no way of paying down their debts and will struggle even more when their debts have to be refinanced at much higher interest rates. I've made $$thousands writing out of the money puts on RCL, but there's no way I'd recommend anyone own the common stock as a long term buy and hold just to get OBC.
  13. Unlike the other Oasis class ships out of Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, the Allure sailings out of Galveston aren't visiting Perfect Day at Coco Cay in 2023. We're taking our little grandkids and their mom on a May cruise on Allure out of Galveston. While this particular sailing doesn't included Coco Cay, we picked up some fares that were dirt cheap. While we will miss Perfect Day, we plan on spending lots of quality time playing with the little ones...pretty easy to do on an Oasis class ship. I noticed that sailings including Coco Cay were about $150 higher relative to sailings without Coco Cay at the time we booked this trip. Happy Sailing!!
  14. The Chef's Table is a wonderful experience I highly recommend if you enjoy a lot of really good food and delicious wines/cocktails. I will add that you will stagger away from the dinner table feeling pretty tipsy, but that's a good thing. Happy Sailing!!!
  15. One thing for everyone to be aware of (we found this out on our Wonder sailing last March) is that RCL only has the international sports package from ESPN, thus limiting March Madness viewing options on the ship's big screen tvs. My son and I ended up having to watch some games on our phones so as not to miss out on our favorite teams.
  16. We'll be sailing Allure May 7...sounds like the new terminal is working beautifully.
  17. I have zero sympathy for the chair hogs...their sense of entitlement at the expense of the rest of us is shocking.
  18. Ditto on flying in to either airport that offers a great deal. We've Ubered from FLL to MIA and it was easy peasy.
  19. It's amazing how much higher the per day revenue generated from suite guests vs. the inside and balcony guests. There's a reason why they are treated with a more enhanced experience.
  20. We went to it one time thinking it would be a worthwhile activity. As mentioned earlier in this thread it's really only good for a small glass of below-average bubbly. If you've nothing better to do, why not...for us, one time was enough.
  21. Check out a recent Cruise Compass on this site. Happy Sailing!
  22. While anyone can eat there, families with little kids tend to eat in the WJ...not much variety that interests the little humans.
  23. The missus and me are taking one of our daughters and 3 young grandkids on this sailing...gonna be fun times for all!
  24. Lots of good comments in this thread and here's our 60ish-years-young perspective: We're light drinkers during the day (a glass or two of wine with dinner most nights) with an occasional daytime cocktail by the Solarium pool. We also enjoy good coffee in the morning with breakfast. In total, we drink about 2 or 3 cocktails each day with one or two cups of great coffee in the morning (we don't drink juices). We pack two bottles of delicious wine in our carry-ons along with insulated tumblers to enjoy free ice water (we're not soda drinkers) from any bar during the day. We'll typically buy an inexpensive bottle of wine with dinner later in the week once we finish our carry-on bottles. To fund our tasty coffee addiction, we purchase a coffee card or two (each card runs you about $33 bucks for 15 specialty coffees and you can buy an extra card on board if your addiction really kicks in ). We've tried may different combinations on past sailings, but really comes down to doing the math based on one's individual preferences. Happy sailing to all!
