If I can recall both Spirit and Frontier have always had a 40lb checked bag situation and a cost to use an agent. There is no cost if you have to check a bag but if you need other assistance. Like as long as you print your boarding pass at home or at the kiosk you will be fine. The kiosk will also print your luggage tags. I did research when I last used Spirit, I have flown them twice, and I read they only purchase one baggage lane and small service area at the airports to save on cost. Therefore, they have less customer service presence at the airports, which is why they charge to use them.

Right now, it appears just Abbott is being 100% accepted. However, if you can get a proctored test with all the pertinent info, I am sure RCG will accept. The CLIA number, DOB, Test results and Name are what is required and what most port workers are looking for.

Amount you bid doesn't always seem to factor in, so you can win a bid even with the minimum. Also, not everyone will qualify for an upgrade. If you can't modify or cancel a bid, it is usually a sign they have accepted your bid. There is a whole thread about RoyalUp.

What if we arrive late for our scheduled boarding time?
Ampurp85 replied to Laura P.'s topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You will be allowed to check in right away. But Port Everglades isn't too far so unless you have delayed luggage you should make your time even with a slight delay. -
They are currently mixing people for traditional dining, but I think it is based on request. March seems to be the month that things are going back to normal. As long as protocols are working, I can't see why in December you won't be sitting with friends who start out as strangers

You cannot use any sort of beverage package with room service, they will charge you full price. Now if you are star class you can have whatever delivered.

Mediocre food and service independent of the seas
Ampurp85 replied to Pamela b's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
When I did Indy this past Jan, I thought the buffet and MDR were horrible. The service was great but the food, I received a grey ribeye, was just so underwhelming. It was the height of Omicron, and the buffet was vastly scaled down, so options were limited. I got room service and still had a great time. I chalked it up to staff not being used to cooking in such small quantities. -
Indy had the cans in Jan, but other ships seem to have a mix. In Feb on Freedom, the crew were drinking the cans while guest was getting the water bottles. There is no discerning taste to the cans, and they can be left open. I usually bring a water bottle to fill up so either way I can reseal my water.

Then you never had an actual bad "fried sweet dough" from RCG. The bakery at one of Chicago's main grocery stores, Jewel Foods, will occasionally mess up a donut and it becomes inedible to me, as a preference. What RCG considers a donut on it ships varies from horrible to meh. I recall one monstrosity on Allure that was supposed to be Oreo. Soggy dough with even soggier pieces of sandwich cookies and glaze.

Sky Class Flex Boarding Times?
Ampurp85 replied to AndrewPunch's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Usually, 5-7 days depending on their load of pax. -
I have had this issue as a solo and a group. I put 1 person on the form but got too much of things I requested a little of and not enough of the things I requested in quantity. When I sailed with my family, we only got 8pcs of bacon, when it was 5 people in the room, and we requested 4pc each. But somehow we got a bunch of toast even though we requested 1.

How soon before we can’t get Free test to travel
Ampurp85 replied to Pattycruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I think all of those testing places and free testing from the likes of CVS and such will dwindle down around this fall. Already in my neighborhood I have seen 3 of the free places close. I had 8, yes 8 within a 5 block walking radius and now there are just 5. I don't find the closure of these facilities disturbing because most were for peace of mind; they often didn't give useable results for travel. It not being offered at the likes of CVS would be detrimental. -
Carnival Corp raising on board prices
Ampurp85 replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It's a when. Everything has gone up and people have proven time and time again they are willing to pay. That's life. I personally think the prices have already increased and we haven't noticed because we focus on "sales." -
Yes that is more than doable. If you self-embark I would say soft yes. They are the first off the ship because they carry their own luggage. You could be off in a cab/Lyft/Uber by 7:15 and at the airport before 8. I think a lot of people fail to factor in when boarding ends. It is usually 20min before take-off. So factoring in that and the fact of how busy MIA is, allow at least 2+hrs to get through screening, check bags etc.

I think the main reason they have those envelopes, that you can use to tip individuals, is to ensure those people you interact with are properly thanked. I couldn't see them having those if they pooled the tips. Once someone in my party asked the suite lounge bartender that exact question. They said anything handed directly to them they keep. I believe if they have a jar, it is pooled and split.

I have never done RCG when I do European cruises, I always do river, but if you plan properly, you can do it at a price you are comfortable with. There is a possibility that the flights might be the most expensive part of your cruise vacation. Which is definitely why you want to arrive a few days earlier and maybe depart a day or two later. If you plan to go a few days earlier, then you can probably get cheaper flights. I have flown premium economy/business to Scotland/Italy for less than $1600pp.......night flights. If you can get a balcony room for less than $1000pp, it might not be that much more expensive than staying in a suite during a Caribbean cruise. A European cruise will cost but I think whether or not it is expensive depends on personal level of what expensive is. I do think currently flights in general are expensive as hell.... domestic and international. We can blame the pandemic for that.

When we did Sky class on Allure we were also disappointed in CK. I don't eat seafood, so mostly I would have to order off the classic menu, which imho defeats the purpose of a suite specialty menu. We had a standing 8pm reservation that I believed we only used twice. I also dislike the MDR, the service is mostly okay, but the food is always bad to me. As far as being spoiled......I might actually be indifferent. I have done Star, Sky and Sea, they were good, and JS's on freedom and Voyager class, which was also good. I also have done interiors and balconies after sailing those classes. Personally as long as I have a room on the ship I am good.

RoyalUP is a third-party service so your C&A status will have no bearing on whether you get upgraded. There are not only lots of people who bid for upgrades but others who use Club Royale to upgrade for a cheaper price. I haven't heard of the upgrade fairy being used based on C&A status since way before the pandemic. I still think the odds of winning a RU has to do with when you place your bid and not how much you spend.

Yes room service is free in sky class, the only thing you would pay is a tip.

Kids Sail Free Age 12 & Under Discount
Ampurp85 replied to BG100's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Well it wouldn't be possible because RCG uses the age you will be at time of sailing, not when you booked. -
RCG was hoping to return to full capacity for the spring sailing season and there have been some ships that hit that threshold recently. Expect regular capacity in the US from now on because lots of covid protocols have been reduced.

I normally stick to slots at the casino so I can't say for certain the exact minimums, but prices will depend on type and not seas/port days. I know there are $5/10 minimums. Arcades start at $1 but I also believe that you can purchase credits in the cruise planner that will give you better value.
