Prior to CWC or COVID-19 you could apply an FCC to any cruise, even one that was paid in full in which case you would get a credit card refund in the amount of the FCC that was applied.

Our next RCCL cruise is transatlantic on Anthem departing Southampton on November 1st. Hopefully that cruise will be sailing. Will keep our fingers crossed anyway. Very keen to get "floating" again. ??

Refund (£7k+) from our Jewel of the Seas B2B March 16 and March 23 cruises posted to my credit card account yesterday. Very happy about that. ??
Hopefully the credit card company can arrange to transfer it back into our bank account. ?

We received our refund today. It appeared in 7 payments. Not sure how it was broken down but the total was equal to amount paid out including excursions, taxes and fees. So glad I don't have to keep looking at my bank account. This was going to be my second cruise with RC and I really didn't now how refunds worked. The cruise was suppose to take place on Freedom of the Seas this past Sunday. We were actually suppose to be on our cruise now. I received several emails from guest experience letting me know when to expect my refund. I never called because I didn't want to stay on the line for hours. My only action was to seek a refund via the website the day after my cruise was cancelled. I received my cruise planner cancellation on April 24th. a "We're sorry" update on April 29th, and a final email on May 6 letting me know my refund was being processed and I would get the funds this week. One thing I did notice was that while the refund was processed on 5/10 it didn't show up until today. Perhaps it was my bank taking the extra time to process it. Thanks to all of you on this blog for your comments. It helped me keep my cool just knowing how others were being affected and how people were willing to wait a while before complaining. Hopefully, all will get their credits or refunds before long!

P&O Cruise Line (part of Carnival Group) stopped charging gratuities from the middle of 2019. There is absolutely no obligation to hand out any tips but you can give something to those crew members who you think deserve it. That’s the way I like it ???

Received the same email today for our cancelled March 23 cruise on Jewel of the Seas. We had booked B2B cruises on Jewel for March 16 and March 23, both cancelled by RCCL mid March. Refund for March 16 cruise came through about a month ago but my travel agent held on to it waiting on the other refund coming through.  Got the call from my TA yesterday to make the full refund to my credit card. Happy days; glad this is over and my money is now safe. ?

Glad to hear that the doctors letter requirement has been rescinded. Looks like the cruise lines realised that it would cost them many loyal customers ...... possibly for ever. My wife and I were seriously considering cancelling the 5 cruises that we had booked for late 2020 and early 2021. We will now wait to see what happens over the next few months.

I’m keeping an eye out for our Odyssey March sailing for pricing to come down. Even balconies were pricy for an obstructed view. So we booked a corner ocean view that is the size of a junior suite.

We have been in both 9338 (JS) and 9340 (D1) on different sailings on the IOS. The JS is very much superior and worth the extra money IMO.

We always book a JS rather than a balcony if the price difference is not too much. Anything up to about 50% extra is acceptable to us. The extra space makes a huge difference. On special occasions, eg anniversary etc, we have gone up to a GS and that gets you a Gold Card and all the additional perks that go with it.

Jim S got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Letter from Doctor
My doctor refused to sign my letter, not because I wasn’t fit to travel or had any chronic illness but because the government had issued guidance to 70’s an overs not to travel at this time. Hopefully once we get over the current Covid-19 crisis things will return to normal again. Here’s hoping anyway, otherwise it looks like I won’t be cruising again.

I understand.  That doesn't make it any less of a knee-jerk reaction in times of crisis that accomplishes nothing...

Legality issues with signing.....I suspect more physicians will be leary about signing such a decretive.
