Beware of "policy changes". Just got ripped off $840
wordell1 replied to PatchyBoaty's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The PCR test is something your home country is requiring, not Royal. The bottom line is that these post cruise tests are causing more problems than they are solving for Royal. You should be able to cancel and get a refund if you aren't happy with the change. Just insist on a refund instead of the FCC. -
I'm seeing $67 per day + 18% gratuities on Wonder in June and $56 + 18% on Liberty in March. Prices are definitely on the rise - The days of $40 drink packages are gone for now.

Book Direct or through Agent?
wordell1 replied to TXCoastPatriot's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
There are a lot of part time travel agents out there. Much like real estate agents, this is not a place where you want to hire a friend or relative who is getting into the business. One of the reasons I chose MEI was that they are involved as a sponsor of this board and there are many agents under their umbrella. If you are having issues with a particular agent, there is a way to address it and be assigned a new agent. -

Book Direct or through Agent?
wordell1 replied to TXCoastPatriot's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
One pro is that your agent should be on the lookout for price changes. My MEI agent emailed me last week with almost $500 in savings on 2 different cruises. I actually like to book my own cruises, but I then transfer them to my agent to handle from there. As Matt said above, there are no charges and lots of benefits. -
Thanks for keeping everyone updated!

I'm sure there will be a lot of people who cancel because of a combination of failed tests, perceived increased risk of getting covid, and or more restrictive protocols. I'd be shocked if it were anywhere near full capacity. Have a great trip!
-
@NeesaSounds like you caught some bad luck on this one. I'm glad you are making the best of it. There are worse things than being caught on a cruise ship in a 2 br GS but I'm sure you wish you could have made your port stops.

Beach day with kids - Cozumel vs Costa Maya
wordell1 replied to wannabecruiseexpert's topic in Shore Excursions
I think he is referring to the ferry to the mainland that is part of several excursions. The sea is often rough and thus the nickname. -
Cozumel adding another pier and terminal

Does the airport in Cozumel have enough capacity to bring in 3000 plus for a cruise? -
Beach day with kids - Cozumel vs Costa Maya

I have a 15 year old and he has definitely enjoyed the inflatables. I would also consider Paradise Beach in Cozumel. It has a pay as you go option vs Mr Sancho's which is all inclusive. -
I've been on 2 post covid cruises and have 4 more booked. I've been generally supportive of Royal's approach to covid protocols. I'm not onboard with increased mask wearing.

People need to start voting with their pocketbooks.

On Oasis a few weeks back, each hot tub had a max capacity. The ones in the Solarium were 7 person max. They had an attendant enforcing the limit. At one point, there was 3 couples in and another couple joined. The attendant came over and told the guy that there was a 7 person limit. He kept asking the attendant "so what are you telling me?". The attendant kept repeating the limit, but would not actually tell him that he had to get out - he finally walked away leaving us with 8.

Options for removing child from reservation?
wordell1 replied to Snowchaser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It is possible that dropping her could cause your current booking to be repriced - but not always and probably not if she was the 4th in a room. Check with your TA or Royal. If there is a price change, you could also just have her "no show" at check in. You would keep your current deal and be refunded the port fees and taxes you paid for her. -
Snorkeling is very good in Belize, people also opt for cave tubing.
-
My suggestion would be to get a travel agent and let them know what you are looking for. They will probably see them before anyone else.

Can we use wifi in the cruise terminal?
wordell1 replied to levib2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I was not able to connect to ship wifi from terminal A in Miami. You do need to be on ship wifi to book shows. -
Check in / Teen Club / On Board Credit
wordell1 replied to Vacationtime's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
My 15 year old was on Oasis a few weeks ago. I highly recommend going to the 7pm meet up - They will have a few ice breakers and this is really where the kids meet up and form groups. It is not weird to go alone - there will be plenty of kids in the same situation. -
What's something you loved about cruising in 2021?
wordell1 replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
On AOS at 30 percent capacity, we walked out to the pool at noon on a session day and found 2 lounges right next to the pool. -
Wow, that is quite a story
-
Honestly, I think you will either have to cancel the whole thing or go without her. You can cancel the cruise for a credit, but I doubt you could book a holiday cruise for anything near the same fare. Call your TA or Royal directly if you booked with them.

They have made it super easy to do it in the app. It's an easy selfie now. I was like you and the ones I took never worked once I arrived but it is easy now. -
Who has the most sailing nights coming up? Me - 47 thru March
wordell1 replied to Swar's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If I start from June 12, 2021 through June 12 2022 I will have had 28 nights. 98 C&A points (3 suites, 1 balcony). Not bad since I only get 3 weeks of vacation a year.
