  1. Good info, I would add that you can use your HCAP card to pay directly for these tests - which reduces the cost by whatever your tax rate is.
  2. I would recommend purchasing the home covid tests through the Royal website. You can take these tests yourself on the ship the day before and the results would be emailed to you. You may also need them to test before boarding and they would be easier than trying to locate a testing center in Italy. I am scheduled to cruise out of Rome in June. We are staying both before and after, so I have planned to use these tests for all our required tests.
  3. I'm not sure that 99% of flights are on time these days. When flying in on same day, delays and cancellations could easily make you miss sail time. Add in lost luggage and there is a lot that can go wrong. The issue gets especially bad if you are flying from a smaller airport with few flights and connections that double the risk.
  4. All they really need to do is add some tortillas and a few condiments to the breakfast bar at windjammer. breakfast tacos are everywhere here in Texas and it amazes me that they are not available throughout the US. They taste great, are easy to make, and easy to eat on the run.
  5. You should be able to see a menu on your cruise planner. There may be small variations.
  6. One reason you are hearing about unvaccinated children getting covid onboard is because they are the only ones being tested as a group (now that they have stopped testing people traveling home to foreign nations). Most have no symptoms and would not have known they had covid if they weren't tested. Of course, they wouldn't be tested if the were vaccinated so that may support your argument.
  7. Suites get free room service and also can order from the MDR menu for room service. So definitely order a hot breakfast if you want.
  8. What is wrong with these young people today who would rather go to school than go on a cruise?
  9. I am expecting an extension. The basic reasons (uncertainty around protocols) are still valid. I am on a June 2022 Mediterranean cruise out of Rome and there are a lot of questions I have regarding protocols in Europe. I would definitely feel better about it with CWC extended into June.
  10. Thanks for the information! Sorry you had to go through all of that. Are kids required to be tested at the end of the cruise because they are non-vaccinated? Is it a US requirement or a cruise policy?
  11. Either way, you are still paying the same for the cruise and getting a lot of benefit - especially when things go wrong, as they have this past few years.
  12. The biggest benefit is the size of the room. Explorer has a suite lounge but no Coastal Kitchen.
  13. You just need to be wearing a mask. Whatever type you are used to will be OK.
  14. I would never consider a Royal Up as likely and highly recommend not dwelling on the outcome of your bid. Bid what you are comfortable with and be happy with your original choice when you don't win. These days, there are more winners due to last minute cancellations.
  15. Flying these days has gone from really bad to almost intolerable. It is easily the worst part of vacation these days.
  16. Another reason not to buy jewelry on tbe ship!
  17. I thought it was odd that there was no opportunity to fill out a customs declaration form when debarking. With the facial recognition scan, you literally are not asked about anything you are bringing in - nor any mention about any duties that should be paid. I would think that if customs wanted to check you closer, it would happen at the facial recognition station.
  18. We carried our own luggage off Oasis a few weeks back. We were off the ship at 7:15 am and there were cabs waiting.
  19. We had the identical tub in 12648 (2BR GS) on Oasis - We really enjoyed it but as you have both pointed out, it is basically a VERY large jacuzzi bath tub. You fill it with normal water (no chlorine or salt water) from a normal spigot - it takes close to an hour at least to fill. I did the same as your husband and over did it with the hot water - it was way too hot. I had to drain it down and then add some cold to get it right (took another half hour). I'm guessing that your attendant did drain it as I don't think it would have fully drained with the stopper in during your dinner. Our attendant definitely cleaned ours regularly as we did use it a few times. I found no information before my cruise on these Jacuzzi's as they are pretty rare, even in suites, so this will hopefully be helpful for future guests.
