  1. we did this excursion there is a lot of walking. The time at the acropolis was "OK" its a very crowded area ( as always) the info given by the tour guide was minimal but just enough for a 1st timer go get an idea of the basics. from there a very long walk next stop was the museum which is pretty good but outside of it be careful of open stairwell holes in the ground with no railings around them,, one of our group walked right into one then down the stone stairs. he was cut up and headache unsure of the final outcome but he was on the bus back to the ship. anyway, the "plaka" stop and lunch was VERY disappointing we were dropped off the bus very far from "lunch" and marched ( very fast pace- again was ok with me but some of the older folk struggled) for about 15+ minutes to stand in line for our"free" lunch of a gyro which we had to eat standing there while everyone else filtered through the line then another walk. The Free time in Plaka was not the area of Plaka I had previously been to and enjoyed. The time there was OK since we had explored and found that section on our own the previous trip. I would suggest finding out if you can skip the free lunch part, take off and just meet at the final pickup point. I'll attach a map. I cant remember exactly where were were dropped off but it was apx the green X off the right side of the map then the walk to free lunch at the yellow with red pin which in my opinion just wasted a good hour+. The red circle was the take off and meet back here free plaka time. There is a church to visit there and the tourist junk stores. If you want to see some old ruins hit the blue circles. Hadrians Library has more to see than the roman forum.
  2. Good thought, but I'm on the computer ( vs phone app) and the times are too different to be that. I'm 6 hours away currently, and one excursion is off 2hrs 15min and the other is 4hrs.. Anyone else having this issue or know of a cause?
  3. I have a few excursions booked in 2 weeks and am Confused with the times. A couple of them differ. Months ago I booked "Fira on your Own" Ship arrives 7:00 am When booked the excursion showed 9:30AM. Currently My Royal Caribbean "Calendar" still shows 9:30am BUT my "Reserved" description now shows 11:45am. Another excursion, Athens, has a 4 hour difference! No way I want to sit on the ship an extra 4 hours when I could be in Athens. A couple of my excursions are like this while others are still the same as booked.. What is the right time? The booked and current calendar time or the current "Reserved" description?
  4. I have the above excursion booked and was wondering if anyone had a little more details about it. About how long is the Acropolis part? I was there once before with a different tour and the actual Acropolis part was a Very rushed ( and extremely crowded) 30 minutes, Not nearly enough time to look and enjoy. Also does anyone know exactly ( well, within a block) of the drop off point and time alloted for "Plaka free time"? I was hoping to enjoy Plaka a bit but also walk over to the Tomb of The unknown Soldier and back. Originally this Excursion showed 7:30am-2:30 with ship departure at 7pm, but now the Time has been removed and it just shows 6hr45min total time Also, if this excursion does end at 2;30 Pm, would it be a good option to actually stay until 4:30-5:00 and take a taxi back? google maps is showing apx 25min drive/$14Euro drive IF i'm entering the proper locations
  5. We have a 7am-7pm stop at Mykonos. We booked the "highlight of Mykonos" excursion which ends at 12:00. Looking at the Satellite View of the area, I see a couple of beaches not far from the port heading towards town. Does anyone know if they are public and something we could just walk to from the dock? I would like to do a little Swimming or snorkeling ( even if its mostly sand). If these spots are not accessible, any suggestion on something very close for just 1 or 2 afternoon hours
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am thinking about the Orange European Sim Card - I think its a decent price if it works, its says it 4g-5g speeds for $50 good for 14 days (averaging $3.57 a day VS most USA carriers I looked at are $10 a day and only 2g speeds) the current "special" allows up to 30GB data Has anyone used this sim card? *For those that asked, I currently use straightalk, they dont offer international.
  7. Im sure this must be asked constantly, but I guess Im not using the correct search terms.. What are the best data plans to use off ship? Specifically, I'm looking for 4 days of Data ( maybe a few calls, nothing drastic) while wandering around Rome Before departing for Naples, athens, Turkey and a few greek islands. I started by looking for Hot spots/mifi routers, then thought maybe a Tmobil plan but I just saw thats quite a few dollars and is only 2g speeds, so I am open to suggestions. I do have an unused iPhone SE I could put a local sim in IF that works and I can figure out what to get.. OR I would prefer but dont know if it would would, use my Current iPhone 12mini and swap sim cards just while on the vaction then swap back, but again what sim to buy-- or back to a hotspot and share it with 3 others in my group? I'm open to suggestions
  8. Thanks Smokey, but I'm looking for real experiences we all know they can claim they do this and that but when trying to place claims ect its always different then "the ad says" guess I should have made that clearer.. sorry
  9. I havent booked my flight yet to Rome for Oct and was wondering how Air2Sea is as far as what they benifits they offer, cancelation( for various reasons, new covid, russia, ect) refunds and amount and any other issues. Any other better options VS booking myself?
  10. The party I'm traveling with called this morning and after the usual forever hold time someone told them "that vendor just mass canceled everything this morning" I find this odd since it hasnt been on my planner since at least last friday (today is Wed ) and the vendor offers other excursions at the same location and they are still available for purchase. So now the question is since I have not been notified that it was canceled and have not receieved a refund, was that rep full of BS? is it really canceled? just not showing on the planner but really still happening? I dont want to book something else until I'm 100% and we depart in a week.
  11. That wouldnt make me happy, but at least yours was refunded. Mine was not. I just hung up with them 2hrs 41min, after the 1st 54min hold, the 1st rep said they cant do anything because its the groups Dept- Transfer! ( imagine that) another 1hr 7min later, groups say, nope not them BUT rep could see the purchase and verified its not currently on my planner. He was very helpful in trying to get a resolution but finally said it could be a LOT longer before the other depts get back to him! Hes suppose to call me back or have someone else call.. So after 4hr 15min, all I have is a "ok we see that too"
  12. I would be fine with that if I can get Royal to depart a day earlier and return a day earlier because We all have to be back to work the day after the cruise.. somehow I don’t think that’s gonna happen
  13. Hmm this is news to me.. When this was rebooked ( rebooked because the original "inaugural" cruise was canceled), they DID provide the COVID test. I had not reveived any notice that changed. Does anyone have a link to the new proceedure or how to get the test quickly? It is NOT an option for us to return home a day later ( due to jobs )
  14. We are arriving 3 days early, my concern is departing and we cant stay an extra day.
