  1. I Recommend Native Choice - It's a third-party tour company that operates in Costa Maya. Email them and they will let you know about the timing. Costa Maya Excursions | Activities in Costa Maya, tours and travel information (thenativechoice.com)
  2. You will see it first on your credit card if you have alerts set up. Thats how I found out.
  3. This is their website. There looks to be shade or sun depending on what you are looking for. Home | Sol y Mar Beach Club (solymarroatan.com)
  4. You can bring up to 12 bottles of water per stateroom in your carry-on luggage. The coffee refills are free, ask you stateroom attendant if you want extra.
  5. This Royal Caribbean program may be appropriate to your situation. Autism Friendly Ships | Accessible Cruises | Royal Caribbean Cruises
  6. I have found that we can usually change in and out of our swimwear while on port excursions with rare exceptions. We usually bring along a change of clothes in a day bag.
  7. It shouldn't be problem getting him moved up - he will not like being a 12 year old in AO. Make sure he attends the "meet and greet" on the 1st night - It is usually at 7pm. Keep in mind that the teen club is very loosely organized and the kids come and go as they want. There are organized activities, but a lot of the kids just form groups and hang out around the ship.
  8. My 15 year old goes to Thrill Waterpark, the wife and I go to Coco Beach Club!
  9. This should be one of the first things you do when you board. They can make whatever changes you want - you don't need to eat at 5:30 if you don't want. The earlier you go, the better your time choices will be.
  10. Excursions are booked through third party companies and need to be run to Royal's protocols for covid compliance (non vaccinated children and their families are required to take ship tours). Since the Cayman Islands has not reopened, they may not have been able to arrange for tour operators that can operate the tours they want to the standards they need. Some of the vendors they have used previously may not be in business, and some of the destinations may not want non vaccinated visitors. I'm sure that Royal would like to visit Grand Cayman, but if they can't, your itinerary will change to Roatan/Costa May or Belize/Cozumel. I'm on Liberty in a 3 weeks and we were supposed to do Jamaica and Grand Cayman but are now doing the other itinerary.
  11. The Royal excursions are set up for maximum Covid protection because the non vaccinated kids are required to use them. As a result, there are less choices than pre covid. I usually don't do Royal excursions in the Caribbean anyway, because you can get better excursions for less money. I would go with shipmate, or just get a taxi and head to the rum factory.
  12. I take my DL and leave the passports on the ship. I do have photos of the passports on my phone.
  13. I've done it twice at that price and enjoyed it, but I will probably not do it again. The food is great, and the set up has an "exclusive" feel to it. For me though, its not that much of an upgrade over the free parts of Coco Cay.
  14. I know it's been discussed specific to diving but I don't think most have a limit.
  15. My last Miami cruise we walked off (with luggage) at 7:15, through customs quickly and in a cab to the airport at 7:30. Miami is a busy airport, so you need to allow for checking bags with the airline and getting through security. I think you would be OK to book a 10:30 am flight at the earliest.
  16. I use an app on my phone called "sleep sounds". It's easier than bringing a separate machine.
  17. Since there is no one with personal experience, I will give the answer for the rest of the fleet. It varies widely by sailing.
  18. I definitely spent more on the airfare. The shore excursions are adding up to be more than the cruise fare also.
  19. There was a video where he talked about the costs, and it was well over $100 K per year.
  20. 1. There are no paper maps. Download the Royal App if you haven't already - It has a map of the ship and times and menus for all restaurants and activities - you should be able to see all of this stuff now. 2. Nothing can be pre booked these days - it must be done when you get on board. You will also use the app and it can be done as soon as you have ship Wifi (you do not need to have an internet pkg to use the app) 3. Head to Adventure Ocean pretty early after boarding to get any times set up for your 6-year-old. Make sure your teens attend the meet and greet at the teen lounge (usually at 7pm) on the first night. My son (15) has been on 3 cruises, and he always makes a lot of friends. There is lots of good advice on this website, read as many posts as you can to get an idea of how things work - ask questions!
  21. I booked a while back for the same time period (June 2nd Wonder out of Rome) I booked premium economy and the prices were around $1800 RT on British Air/American from Austin. Premium economy gets a wider seat that reclines more - plus a better meal. Do a google on United premium economy and you will find some good reviews. I think there will be a lot of travelling this summer and I would book now.
