  1. We were on Enchantment in 2018 for our honeymoon, didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. She is definitely showing her age and lacks the restaurant choices some of the other ships have as there is only Chops Grille for specialty (I believe Vision has Chops and Giovannis) and then the MDR and WJ. All of these ships are smaller than Explorer, with Vision and Enchantment being roughly the same size and are in the same class, Empress is the smallest in the fleet. We enjoyed the entertainment on Enchantment but we also didn’t go into the trip hoping for great broadway shows either. We enjoyed the pool deck and solarium. The staff we interacted with were great. I guess it really depends on what is important to you with the trip, we were only on a short 4 night cruise on Enchantment and I don’t know that I would want to do a longer 7+ night trip on her, but that’s just me.
  2. We did MTD for our cruise coming up in February 2020 and we were able to select whether we pre-paid the gratuities or not (I hope I'm understanding what you're asking correctly)...we chose to pre-pay just to get it paid up-front, but at least we had the option. Not sure if this is new for 2021?
  3. I saw on another post here that Allure is getting AMP'd prior to home-porting in Galveston if that helps. I haven't sailed on any of the Oasis class yet so can't really comment any further than that.
  4. Sorry to hear you had a couple disappointing parts of your trip, hopefully you feel like you had a good vacation overall. Just wanted to let you know it probably wasn't a lie on the skipped port. I believe when RC goes to Grand Cayman they tender to the port, so if the seas are too rough for the tenders they cannot stop at that port. Other ships/cruise lines may be able to dock and not have to use tenders, which would be the reason they could dock. Again, not 100% sure that was the case on your trip, but a possibility.
  5. My guess would be that they are trying to limit the amount of people who purchase the water park (and maybe other excursions) to a certain number and with Oasis class holding 6,000 (?) guests if the price were low maybe too many people would buy, and with Mariner and Navigator being smaller they don’t have that same concern? Or something along those lines. Not sure obviously but just a guess
  6. Do you just look under Music Hall on the app and once it's set what band is going to be playing it will show the band name? Or is there another place to look on the app?
  7. It's still showing in our cruise planner as of this morning. I would say maybe it's sold out, but I feel like usually it still shows but just says sold out so not sure why it's not showing at all
  8. Good to know, I just assumed it would be different each time, which still could be the case, but nice to know there's a possibility that we may have the same table/staff
  9. What do they typically do on a Bermuda trip if there is a hurricane? I noticed a few trips in October out of NY to Bermuda that are priced great, but hesitate thinking that would be a prime spot for a hurricane to travel through during that time of year
  10. We went to Atlantis and enjoyed the aquarium and walking around there. My wife didn't really enjoy the trip over to paradise island (saw a couple stray dogs she wanted to go adopt and bring back on the ship with us, she is a big animal lover) but other than that it wasn't bad. Our plan this trip is to stay on the ship when in Nassau though.
  11. Thanks!!
  12. I would second the Epic, we stayed there last year and enjoyed it alot. We haven't stayed at the Intercontinental though and that hotel seems to be a favorite on this board.
  13. Just curious how this works. Our first RCL cruise we did MTD as well but didn't do reservations, just showed up on the nights we ate in the MDR. This time I made reservations on the cruise planner for the days we plan on eating there. I know there will be people there for the early/late seatings and then others with MTD lining up, how close to our reservation time should we really expect to get a table? Also, I keep getting emails to make my MTD reservations even though I did and they show up on my calendar, should I assume we're all set?
  14. How are the chocolate covered strawberries that you get in the room on embarkation day? I ordered them for my wife for our upcoming cruise as a little treat, just curious how they are?
  15. I think it is timed, it's annoying but it removes after like 24 hours or something like that I believe.
  16. The 3 night has been at $99 for our Anthem sailing as well, I don’t remember if it was discounted for Black Friday, but I haven’t seen it go below $99 in our cruise planner
  17. Has anyone done the 1.5 hour swimming with stingray excursion on CocoCay? I've found other posts here asking similar questions, but not really any answers unfortunately. Just trying to see how it was. It says swimming with stingrays and snorkeling, just curious if you actually see anything while snorkeling, how long the boat ride out is and how long you are actually with the stingrays. Thanks!
  18. Even with these videos and different angles it's hard to tell what exactly he was trying to do? He wasn't pulling into the dock between Oasis and Legend, so why so close to them? we went on Carnival Liberty and if I remember right on that ship that area was a dining room and I think there was a venue back there too, for comedy shows...not sure if these ships are set up in a similar way
  19. From the main page on the app, click the round button with the fork and knife, it will give you the options of the specialty restaurants and the main dining, click on any of them and there will be a menu link to click
  20. I guess I've never really given this topic a lot of thought until now reading all the responses here. On formal nights on cruises we just skipped the MDR and picked the windjammer or whatever else and that was it, we just didn't feel like participating and having to pack "fancy" clothes (we both work in a professional environment and don't feel like dressing too fancy on vacation). I can understand the sentiment with the formal nights for people who are accustomed to that from prior cruises, it is neat to see people who go all out and dress up, I guess I never thought twice about what other people were wearing because it didn't affect my vacation or if I was having a good time. My thoughts are, do what makes you happy and as long as you're not hurting someone else, then you do you.
  21. Not knowing a ton about this, couldn't RCI get around the liability of potentially "dangerous" excursions by having anyone who wishes to participate in one of the excursions just sign a waiver? Again, I don't know if this is something they already do or if it would really limit their liability, but simply looking at it, it seems like it would be an easier solution to cancelling all potentially dangerous excursions
  22. Can you contact them prior to your cruise to request a certain table (by the window, etc) for dinners? Or is this something you would just do first day on ship?
  23. Ok thanks, I wonder if all the options just maybe aren’t loaded into cruise planner yet. So far for FlowRider they only have the ultimate experience and a couple lessons available to book.
  24. So I just noticed the activities are available to book for our cruise and I was able to make reservations for North Star and Rip Cord. I was also able to reserve flow rider but only at a cost. I thought it was included like the others or is it only available at an additional cost? Also, the North Star was only open to book on sea days, any idea if they open up days while in port? Was thinking it would be cool to do in Nassau.
  25. Whats a typical itinerary for an Arctic cruise? Where do they usually depart from?
