  1. Not really. The sun will be going down in the west no matter which direction you are facing. It will be behind you on one leg of the trip and in front of you on the other leg so one way or another you will most likely have a good sunset view at one point.
  2. I will be on the following week ! Can't wait to see the new amped Oasis. If you truly do not want to eat in the MDR (or any of the other complimentary meal options) then I do recommend that you look into the UDP. As you noted, in a JS you may or may not be able to eat in CK. You would not know until you get on board and you might not even know from day-to-day, depending on how booked they are. I have found that the UDP is worth the money on the O class ships b/c there are so many different options for dining. It the price isn't outrageous, I would say it's a good option. If you do decide to purchase the UDP, do NOT include your 8-year-old. There is no need to pay full price for him. They will either charge a reduced children's price for him or sometimes they don't even charge you at all. I certainly wouldn't depend on getting his meals for free but it might happen that way. Even if they do charge him it will not be full price. Regarding the Key....the only perk that you would be duplicating with the Key would be lunch on embarkation day. If you get the UDP that would already be covered by the rest of the perks would be of benefit if you are interested in them.
  3. Good price from what I've seen. What ship ?
  4. You can book as many offers as they send you. Upgrades are no longer the deal they used to be but even these cruises are eligible for Royal Up offers.
  5. Those are historically slow weeks for cruises.
  6. ...well, the good news is, if you have a change of heart (or come to your senses...whichever comes first) you can cancel without penalty ! ??
  7. Neesa, I completely concur with you; if you are already in Sky then there is really no reason to bid on another Sky class room. Star Class...oh yeah....Remember that the 1 BR ATS are NOT Star Class so you can mark those off your list as well. There's no way I would consider moving from an OS to a 1 BR ATS especially since it is Sky Class to Sky Class. I have found that very often the OS is more expensive than the CLS. I know people like to be up on Deck 17 but many people also do not like the stairs associated with the lofts (I'm in that crowd). Are you in one of the OS that has a connecting room or one of the non-connected OS ? The reason I ask is b/c I am also in an OS next year (Allure) and from what I can see from photos, the stand-alone OS on the O class ships have a big pole right near the front door. The connecting OS don't have that pole but all of the non-connecting do. I shouldn't let that bother me but it does. Even though I do not want the hassle of stairs, I am considering switching from the OS to a CLS just so I don't have to dick around with that pole.
  8. But what's so different about this cruise is it is NOT sold out. Not one single category is sold out. I think the reason is b/c this is a Mon-Fri cruise, which is less popular than a cruise that encompasses as weekend or at least part of a weekend. Besides, I don't think cabin availability has a darned thing to do with Royal Up. There really isn't much that I would be able to bid on anyway as I'm already in a GS. Only the OS and RS above what I already have...it's just odd that I did not get an invitation to bid. Not at all concerned about it...just surprised.
  9. This is precisely what I did. I want to be able to go to the Club, swim in the pool and eat some lobster but I have learned from experience that the cabanas are a waste of money for us. We just take naps there. So I feel like entrance into the club at $64.99 PP was a pretty good deal. The "floating" cabanas (I guess they have renamed them from "Over-the-water" to "floating") for us are $1499 (Anthem, Feb. 2020). For the 2 of us to take a nap that is just waaaytooo much. I am, however, interested to see what the Club is like.
  10. It's been a really long time since I've boarded later than 11:00 but I would suspect that the busiest embarkation would be between noon and 2PM. Just guessing.
  11. I think 2:30 on embarkation day would be great assuming you aren't doing anything special (parties, etc.) for embarkation. You will be fortunate enough to have already settled into your suite and unpacked. Ask your Genie if he/she can do anything about getting you a discount. Unlikely, but worth asking ! I did a massage on boarding day once (can't remember if we were Star Class on that one or not...fuzzy memory) and it turned out to be a great experience.
  12. What an awesome vacation. Your children are very fortunate to have such cool and fun parents. Well done.
  13. Today I got an offer to bid on a Royal up for our December 1 Oasis cruise. There is only 1 suite higher than what we have - the Royal Suite and it's been sold for months. I don't expect to get it but I did put a minimum bid on it. Interesting that I never got a Royal Up offer on the first half of my S2S - the Nov. 25 Brilliance Thanksgiving cruise. That's the only cruise that I have booked that I did not at least get an offer to bid.
  14. Not drinks prices....but this is what is showing on my cruise planner for my upcoming Grandeur (12 Oct) cruise for internet. Who would pay $27.29 for a 2-device package when you could buy 2, 1 device packages for $25.98 ?
  15. They have not mailed cruise docs/luggage tags in many years. The only way that you will get these documents in the mail is to either (1) pay (I think it's $35...or it used to be, anyway) or (2) your travel agent may offer this service. Royal does not mail out luggage tags anymore.
  16. If it’s a true sofa bed I don’t think there’s any way to make into 2 separate sleeping surfaces. If it’s one of the trundle beds they are 2 separate mattresses so it’s not a problem
  17. Sounds like good reading weather. At least you have a good book
  18. I don't bother with it anymore. The last 2 times they have re-taken our photos anyway...so I don't even bother now. It takes maybe 5 more seconds each to check in.
  19. Slightly off topic but while perusing the excursions site for my upcoming Oasis cruise (going to Labadee, not Coco Cay), I saw this It's the first time I've ever seen a "sold out" banner on any excursion. I think this is GREAT (assuming it's true). At least you don't have to guess about whether there's a cabana available or not. They're still showing over-the-water cabanas available to apparently all of the beach cabanas are gone. I hope this is something they will continue to do when an excursion is actually, truly sold out.
  20. No, if it says sofa bed, then it has a sofa that makes into a bed or is sometimes a trundle bed. If you're looking for "bunk beds" it will either say bunk beds (which generally means bunk beds in a separate room or alcove) or pullman beds which means that they either pull down from the ceiling or the wall(s). If it says sofa bed it is not a bunk bed.
  21. Often (but not always) lobster is eliminated from the menu on cruise of less than 7 days. The other frequent casualty of the shorter cruises is lamb shank.
  22. Yikes ! There's a demon lurking in [bird of] paradise !!!
