  1. Lots of cruises leave on a Monday...we often take those so we can fly in on the weekend and fly out th following weekend.. Was supposed to be cruising out this morning on Odyssey.......
  2. I cant list all my drinks in a day.....it would clog up this thread...its a long long list..........? But it averages around 20-25 per day, more on the first few days, less on the last few days...a couple of those are water or poweraede though.....lol........
  3. I would think it could be for the next 4 years anyways..lol. It would make sense..smaller ships can only go there...close to the US as they want to start out with short cruises....I am sure the demand is there as well if it opened up again. Can't imagine that it wont in due time.
  4. Was supposed to be boarding Odyssey this morning in Florida..not sure if this hurricane would have delayed my cruise, but I would still take that over a cancelec cruise thanks to Covid!
  5. This is defn going to be in the cards again...... I am sure of it....
  6. I would be still ok with those restrictions to travel...but seeing as I cant even travel in Canada without being locked down for 14 days when I return, i cant see this coming here anytime soon. ?
  7. I was surprised..didn't think this would actually pass....it says they get 7% of their tourism dollars from cruise passengers.....wonder if after a few years they will regret this especially with the hit that tourism is taking worldwide currently....
  8. Oh I will be up late watching this tonight......follow US politics closely and always enjoy a good conversation about it when cruising. Have made many American friends on cruises that I still keep in touch with and know how big of a deal this is, especially this year!! If I was an American today...I would vote for whoever is going to let me cruise quicker...that's all I care about right now!.,...ha?️?️?
  9. Border is not closed till March..they extend it for 30 days at a time. You maybe confusing with with the Canadian goverment trying to make Canadians feel good by banning all cruise ships till March, but what a joke..I don't know any cruises that are coming to Canada in Jan...lol I would guess that you will still have to do the 14 day quarantine still then which will be the biggest deterrent for most Canadians to travel.
  10. I feel that the quarantine period will be greatly reduced in the near future to facilitate travel and the economies again. With rapid testing becoming more common and with 2-3 waves/outbreaks behind us soon, plus vaccines starting in early 2021...I am cautiously optimistic that by late spring things will be very different for travel rules. We aren't planning on any travels til the summer and then hopefully next fall back to cruising with very few restrictions still in place. If this all happens earlier, then we will be going of course.
  11. Even in Canada(where supposedly we are handling Covid well..lol) we have different rules for each province and some cities within the same province, so the color of the state really doesn't have any bearing...why don't you just say each province instead of trying to get a dig in at the USA. Pretty sure I saw ALOT of people from your own province flaunting the rules this weekend.... Here in Canada, we are threatened with fines, jail and Covid camps for detention if we don't follow the rules..so please don't try to make another country out to be worse than yourself..... Rules change all the time for various reasons..its not hard to learn and adapt...some emails and videos should be enough from Royal...its not rocket science to understand what we will need to do.
  12. refundable rates are alot higher..last cruise I got a quote on it was close to 50% more.....so its a conundrum to be honest.. My last cruise I just booked..I couldn't even figure out on the Royal site how to get a refundable rate for my booking...
  13. I really want to book another cruise and get the double points which would get us to Diamond status!!....Just need to have some confidence that cruising is going to start back up and that the 14 day quarantine rule will be reduced or removed in the near future! Its a great offer with the points.....wonder what would happen if 2021 is a wash for cruising and these cruises get pushed into 2022...would double points follow and apply with a Lift & Shift type thing.....hmmm
  14. Seems like there are some trickles of good/positive info coming out regarding some crew starting to get ready to head back from various sources ... Any positive news like this we will take at this point!!!
  15. I hope this is right as we are wanting to do this for the cruise we just booked...going to try this weekend so fingers crossed it works...never seem to know for sure when it comes to those things!
  16. I would enjoy that..we spend alot of time in Maine actually ...normally....Usually Bangor, Bar Harbor and Portland....usually 4-5x a year.....flights out plus vacation time and shopping...probably a better chance to run into you there than on a cruise..ha
  17. Don't worry..shes a nurse and I am a insurance agent....we are well aware of whats out there for medical and insurance wise ?....this is very common in NB..we have contacted our MLA as well as the Minster of Health for the province....still nothing to show. Don't want to hijack this thread so lets get back to cruising..... On some positive news...my cruise booked for next Nov just dropped $99 with some flash sale....doesnt sound like much but its about a 10% so i'll gladly take it!!!!
  18. No..healthcare is provincial....so no options for that. At least he has a family doctor to be able to tell him that bad news...my partner cant get a family doctor and she is a RN....so imagine, walk in clinics wont see ppl due to Covid and Emergency is closed at the hospitals (and even if you can get in its a 12 hr wait to see a doctor and they wont do much as they are not "family doctors")so no options when something happens for any medical help..
  19. At least you have an option if you have the money....we have no options in cases but to die for free. I have known family and co-workers in this situation. We still pay monthly fees and co-pays and crazy high taxes(maybe not compared to NJ or NY..ha) and still not covered. One of my fav topics to discuss when cruising....no model of healthcare is perfect it seems, but ours leaves alot to be desired when facts and examples are known. Now hurry up and open our borders so I cam enjoy more of these discussions during cruises!!!
  20. That's norm here...5 year wait or longer in some cases...my boss this morning just told me his dad needs dialysis...its a 2 yr wait in some places in NS...so he's has been told his dad will die before he ever gets a treatment.....nice eh? Gotta love "free" healthcare that you have paid hugely for through crazy high tax rates in Canada...and now when you need it, you will die before you get it.....quite common in Canada...sad
  21. I wouldn't assume that ever....we can't even get a family doctor with UHC...so not sure they are going to cover the cost of a test cause I want to go south. I love how people think we have free and great healthcare....free is only good if you can actually get it...? One of my favorite topics when cruising to discuss with my American friends... No mention of cost though....but until the "Atlantic" Bubble bursts, i cant go anywhere..even in Canada without the 14 day quarantine so its a small step in the right direction but still months away I feel from any type of potential impact on a great scale.
  22. HUGE NEWS FOR CANADIANS!!!! Just announced they are looking at starting rapid testing at airports in Canada that would result in only a 48 hr quarantine if you test negative with a rapid test....starting Nov 2nd in Calgary International Airport. Fingers crossed this will be successful and rolled out across Canada...it would be a travel game change for Canadians!!!!
