September 2021 sailing on Oasis seems to be about 25% higher than price I got it at, so obvious choice would be to Lift & Shift prior to final payment.

Having done the 5 day to Bermuda out of Bayonne a lot and the 9 day out of Bayonne to Caribbean once, I wouldn't mind combining them both for a two week adventure. @ehw51 As far as same itinerary, never have (never any B2B), but would without question, especially if it's a ship we have never sailed before as you cannot do it all in 7 days. One of the cons to cruising is you're at port for a few hours, knowing you're coming back the next week allows you to see a little bit more.

Buffet Dining going forward?

Buffet Dining going forward?

... and while you're stuck, someone rudely steps in the middle of the line because they "just want that one thing" that you also are patiently waiting for! -

Goodbye from some friends

While I don't recall any direct interactions in my short time here (next month will be a year) as @Ampurp85 stated, your posts on various topics have always been helpful & professional. I wish the three of you the best of luck. -
September 20th, 2020 -- not boarding, not 5 days later, if they don't just cancel until October. Since I'm looking at a different category, I might wait for cancellation and take the cash or shift, I'll let my agent guide me here a bit. Yep. Just sent the ramblings in my head to agent... She probably thinks I'm drunk ??

This is one of our concerns. I would wager, at least the first few months back at sea, if there are positive cases on a ship, the destination port might deny or delay entry. Sure, I can bring my work laptop "just in case" but my wife doesn't have the same option. It would require more vacation days to be used and an upset boss my wife would be coming home to. The best we have stayed in was a Grand Suite and even that wouldn't be enough space for me to not lose my sanity after a day. I would need one of the Aqua Suites on Oasis class at a minimum :).

Virgin releases their protocols

Yep, just seemed like wordsmith to me. Assuming they mean CDC guidance then masks will more than likely be recommended. What does "advised" mean in the context below? As @mworkman points out, it's not "required" but recommended / advised to wear a mask. Will they take the recommendation and make it a requirement? Will it truly be recommended so you don't have to wear a mask? I see the uproar now between non-mask & mask ... heck, we haven't even solved the dress attire on formal night disagreement yet. -
I don't have a good feeling about this. . . .

While the sites backup for me too, what would take 15 to 16 hours (5PM to 9AM) to apply some updates, without advanced notice.? -

Rebook or Destination Vacation??

FWIW this is my plan for wife and I --> If September is cancelled we will take the refund, move our December Harmony Cruise to September 2021 and that's that. If it isn't cancelled but we decide to cancel, then I'll Lift and Shift to September 2021, cancel December Harmony and apply the FCC towards upgrading to a Jr. Suite or higher. So, price preservation isn't important since we want a Jr. Suite or higher. We too are anxious to take a real vacation. We are currently working on a trip to Wildwood, NJ. It's a 3 hour drive, a place we have not been in a while and something we can make arrangements (hotel, etc) last minute. We would need the dates picked out ahead of time because my wife needs to give her manager decent notice for vacation but, my job is more flexible and can work around her jobs schedule. -

What's strange was the site was half loading for some and not for others. I suspect an update error of some sort - or server outage - or ? -

I get the same. Chrome, incognito <-- is there another way to use Chrome? Developer tools shows lots of "unable to load" and most of it looks like front-end stuff (Javascript, jQuery, css, etc) ... probably took their website offline, my guess being 5PM EST it wasn't intentional, especially since we all know Royal loves to test their code in production :) LOL -
Carnival selling ships....
sk8erguy1978 replied to SteveinSC's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
That caught my eye too. I suppose it's like donating that rust bucket car. It's gone the next day and you have a little tax write off. Here they might get some quick cash for the scrap metal and it's off their expenses list. Hey, if I had the cash I'd buy a used cruise ship... anyone want to go halvsies? LOL -
DING DING DING! I just verified. If there is ANYTHING extra it flags it. IE: 5 day to Bermuda from NJ it catches it because of 2 Bermuda days... BUT, 4 day Bahamas & Perfect Day from FLL, it doesn't.

@CGTLH Yours makes sense. I just looked at my (probably not) upcoming September cruise and it is exactly the same from when we booked a year ago - order - times - etc. Wonder if it was a faster implementation to just let it pop up for all sailings.
-
If memory serves me correctly, we are on the same sailing. We are doing the same thing, my agent said she'll process on Friday in case of any processing errors and we will ride it out. We will shift it to next year as we are eyeing the September 2021 Oasis anyway to replace our December Harmony sailing (officially going to cancel, supposed to be a friends cruise but no friends can make it). However, if this cruise does get cancelled, I'll probably upgrade us to a Grand Suite in 2021. Looking at current price it's about the same price as September & December so, why not, it'll be our 5 year & a late celebration of her 29th (+11) birthday. Also gets my agent similar commission she would have got this year from me LOL! Win-Wn! We too need a vacation, started looking into Wildwood, it's been years and only a 3 hour drive.

Lessons Learned about Payments
sk8erguy1978 replied to Al Horner's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I would contact the travel company immediately. It states right on booking confirmation the date full balance must be paid or they can cancel your reservation. I'd pay and wait, cancel and wait for FCC or try a L&S. I've attached a screenshot from one of my booking confirmations. -
Lessons Learned about Payments
sk8erguy1978 replied to Al Horner's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
After the Anthem Grand Suite sting last year I opened another Ally savings account with the nickname "cruise fund." I get paid twice a month, on or about those days I transfer money from my checking account to it. So, earn a little interest and it's like monthly payments - all automated. For a little bonus, Ally has these "no penalty" 11-month CDs that I put my emergency fund into. Since my emergency fund doesn't need the interest, it gets deposited into the cruise fund account too. (I swear I don't work for Ally LOL).
