Yep I like my meat thick and slightly cooked, my wife thin and cooked into oblivion. I don't get it but ain't going to ruin my life.

This is an entertaining conversation but going nowhere. Not liking something is fine but bluntly ignoring the facts presented to you because you don't like them is another thing. If a ship is legally allowed (for safety reasons) to have 5000 pax and they sold them all a cruise for $1000 then the revenue is 5mil. Now if there were 200 babies that they decided to give free cruise to revenue falls by $200k plus all the ancillary purchases full size people make. Now what do you think would happen, yes they would raise the cost to those without babies to maintain their revenue. So now is that fair on those without the kids having to pay extra. So while the end result is a business decision it is a result of the safety rules.

This same phenomenon has been happening for 100 years, as you get older and have had things multiple times it doesn't taste as good as it used to. So many times I've tried something for the first time and thought wow gotta come back to this place and always end up slightly disappointed. The brain is a massive receptor for taste. My parents would always say food doesn't taste as good as it used to when i thought it was fine.

Absolutely, departure point does make a big difference especially in meat quality, mainland Europe the worst. However seafood usually good. The beef dishes when cruising out of Australia are always better. In saying that if you are thinking negatively about something before you eat you will pick holes in anything, the food I have had on all cruises before and after the pause has been pretty much the same. It only takes a couple of people on forums or social media to post about their negative experiences to make it viral. Even those that haven't cruised in the last year or two are talking about how the food is worse.

Well now we know what is to come for Diamond members

More and more cruisers aging and getting to Diamond level than ever before. Something has to give. You can't just add additional space that the general cruising public can't access, there is already enough exclusive area. Happy if they just keep a small room with a coffee machine and the concierge. -
Right I'm cancelling.

Ben & David review of MDR new menus, not positive!!
bretts173 replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Saying things are terrible makes certain people feel big sometimes. It's just how they are. Some people also like to disagree for the sake of it. Unfortunately if 90% of people like something people will still take as much or notice of the other 10%. -
The Hideaway on Icon of the Seas Pricing
bretts173 replied to Xaa's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I have no problem with people spending money as they see fit, but the ever increasing areas of the ship where people pay extra to use because they have money or like to give off the impression they do reduces the experience for others. I consider myself privileged because of my upbringing so can afford all this stuff but not my style. The amount of money people have is often nothing to do with how hard they work, just a comment used by those that can. -
Solarium age limit changing to 18

Sure why not let them 16year olds drink too. -
For someone who claims to speak facts this is one of the most opinionated messages on here.

Depends which way you look at it. It is either a payment for doing a good job, or a bribe to make you do a good job. Some cultures take pride and just do a good job.
-
The extra $1 is to cover the non tipping culture. Same applies to cruises out of Australia.

Yep no problem.

Plenty of times. I have cruised enough to be diamond fairly young and my kids who are now in their late teen years have always been treated like crap as soon as they enter the lounge. Kids are mostly charged at the same rate as adults and if a seat is free they should have it. The 4 now 5 drinks is a welcome change to get away from there. My kids are brought up to treat every one equally unfortunately it is not reciprocated by many to them. So many posts on here mentioning how many kids are on each cruise and why can't we have our own space. Guess what you have the choice. It's called Princess.

Or maybe cruise on a line that is not so family friendly. I wish there was a venue without condescending old dudes growling at kids even before they have mucked up.

Exactly, who wants to eat the same thing everyday of the week at home or on a cruise. -
New menus to be rolled out in early 2023
bretts173 replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
So I'm guessing my next cruise departing Jan 04 will still have the old menus. Probably not going to start mid Jan at the earliest. -
You need to look at the current sailing for accurate menus. No ships have accurate menus that far out.

So how much are you paying for your dinner in the MDR. First take off your accommodation and associated charges, entertainment, transport expenses and all other meals. About $3.99.

Australia/NZ Cruising News

They are constantly advertising sales at very good prices over the next month or 2 even in holiday times. Unfortunately high airfares bring the prices up to more than what I can sail from Sydney. Not overly positive
