Weezie57 reacted to Ryan79 in Costa Maya or Cozumel
Just make sure to make reservations WELL in advance as they sell out all the time. People were turned away at the meeting place outside the port area who thought they could go on a whim. The look on their face was like someone slapped their momma!

Cozumel has more shopping. Costa Maya has, well, Mayan pyramids. CM also has Lake Bacalar, which offers water activities, but the village of Mahahual tends to have a lot of seaweed unless you get a day pass for a resort that cleans the beach.

costa maya is beautiful, a little more rustic/wild in nature and the staff at maya chan are really wonderful. in full transparency, the water was not very clear when we went there, but the team was grooming the sargassum/sea grass all day and the lunch and hospitality are PHENOMENAL.
cozumel probably has clearer water overall but i don't think there is direct beach access right off the port because it is so rocky, so you will likely need to rent a day pass or take an excursion somewhere. we snorkeled once at chakkanub and it was crystal clear and beautiful. there are also some beach resorts you can stay at for the day -- mr sanchos and nachi cocum are two that many here have visited and left reviews on in this forum, if you are looking for more info 💚

Cozumel beach day for sure. Check out one of the beach clubs (Paradise, Nachi Cocum or Mr Sanchos).

I believe Cozumel has the better beach but I haven't been there in years. I will be there on the Jewell in April and booked Maya Chan in costa maya.

Weezie57 got a reaction from SabastianCiscoLuna in Deluxe drink package
It’s hard to be black and white on this topic. The key to me is what’s the price of the package. My sailing in a couple of months shows a retail of $90 per day. For me, that might be difficult to break even. However, since I got it for $59.99, it makes it more likely I will save money. I figure a couple of coffees or smoothies, a couple of drinks during the day (conservative for point of discussion) and two glasses of wine at dinner it will pay for itself. This doesn’t include the numerous bottles of water I am positive I will consume.

Well, that sucks. I do appreciate the info. Now I can lower their expectation before we get on the ship.

Oh, everyone is still super excited about the cruise. That’s a little disappointing but it won’t take away from the fun we will have and the memories we will create.

They'll be plenty of fun stuff to do don't worry. On a cruise no one thing ruins it for us. Things don't always work out, just move on to the next thing. Go with the flow is our motto. Have a great cruise!

I think JR is worth it. The apple pie alone is worth it. I will say that the burgers in WJ don't compare, I actually really dislike the burgers in WJ, they taste off to me. We ate at JR twice on my last Oasis sailing. We didn't do breakfast because they didn't have turkey sausage offerings.

The food is really good actually in my opinion. It's nice treat on a cruise. Excellent milkshakes. The kids will enjoy it. Have a great cruise, Oasis is amazing!
Oasis I believe Johnny Rockets serves breakfast too.

My teenagers are excited there is a Johnny Rockets on Voyager of the Seas even though they have never eaten there. My first question is how is the food? Secondly, I think I read somewhere you could use your Deluxe Drink Package to get milkshakes there, is that accurate?

I was surprised how good the burgers were in the WJ, ended up having one every day!

We had zero complaints with any of our Johnny Rockets meals over the years. One of the benefits of being on a ship with so many free options for food is that the places which charge money for food have to deliver a decent experience or word would travel FAST to skip it.

Can get the same hamburger in Windjammer BUT the milkshakes are what I go for. Can't get them anywhere else and is a treat for each trip.

You can eat breakfast there and it was included. If you have the refreshment package then you can get the milkshakes.

Breakfast is only available on Oasis-class ships at Johnny Rockets, so Voyager will only be open for lunch and into the early evening. The milkshakes are covered by the refreshment package AND the DBP.

We always stop at least once, however it's somewhat lost it's luster for us post covid. Used to be lie $5 a person, last cruise it was $12 with very slow service. Not really sure it's $12 better than what you can get in the WJ
