  1. You will get a shore excursion ticket that you take with you to the beach bed check-in area on the island and they will show you to your assigned bed.
  2. This guy has been posted on Facebook throughout the cruise https://www.facebook.com/david.abel.75 He has a pretty good attitude towards the situation.
  3. @bossdog421 caught a photo of the beds and posted it in his live blog:
  4. Deck 9 if you HAVE to choose. If you can get put on some waitlist to switch to deck 8 should it come available, definitely do that. It's a pretty long walk from the closest elevator bank. Probably a tad longer than the Anthem haul. The balconies on the Oasis class ships wrap around so one side you get just ocean, then you can see the wake off the back of the ship, and then you can also watch the aquatheater show right from the balcony.
  5. It's a pretty small shopping area at the port..not worth rushing back to spend a huge amount of time at. I would say 1 hour is more than enough unless you are wanting to hit up the Diamonds International ?
  6. I would say that the ships would be nearly equal in which ship would be more fun for a 10 year old. They both have tons of activities that would appeal to that age range. Since you've done the Oasis class more often with it being in your backyard all the time, I would give Odyssey a try. Having the separate 2nd bedroom might be a nice treat. The suite lounges on the Quantum class ships don't have the same draw as Deck 17 on Oasis class, so cabin location isn't as big of a factor. The other direction to take would be to consider whether you (or your kiddo) would prefer pre-cruise in Barcelona or Civitavecchia/Rome.
  7. I have heard the loophole has been plugged on all ships now.
  8. I think I got Breezy Bay and Chill Island beach bed areas swapped..so they call the area behind the Oasis Lagoon Breezy Bay from the cabana map
  9. Yes. Get onboard and switch your phone into airplane mode. Then turn the wifi on and connect to the ship's wifi and log into your VOOM account. You will be asked to create an account the first time you log connect to the wifi. It will recognize the VOOM plan you purchased through the Cruise Planner if you bought one ahead of time when you put in your personal information (name, birthdate).
  10. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/perfect-day-at-cococay-marketing-map.pdf The updated map can be found at the above link. I meant that the water in the South Beach area is very shallow. I don't see a special beach name for that area. I believe it's still considered Chill Island. The first cove area (new map in the link above says Chill Island) I believe is being referred to as Breezy Bay. The new cabana maps has the Breezy Bay beach beds there and they call the beach beds that appear to be at the beach behind the Oasis Lagoon area the Chill Island beach beds. The cabanas are also in this area of Chill Island. I noticed they took off the plane reference on the map. I had heard that's no longer an accessible area for snorkeling, but I'm not sure.
  11. https://www.verizonwireless.com/solutions-and-services/international-travel/ You will not be able to use the Verizon service on the ship with the international package. Verizon has a $20/month package you can add that will give to 50 MB to use on the cruiseships. That 50 MB will be eaten up very quickly with background apps and such. If you don't have this plan, you want to make sure that you turn your phone on airplane mode when you are on the cruiseship. If you want to use your phone on land at the ports, that is where you will need to have the $10/day travel package. I believe if you sign up to enable the service through Verizon it will only charge you the $10 when it detects that you are connecting to international cell service.
  12. I want to say that the floating bar is to the right of the Coco Beach Club now if you look at the most recent maps. That will be considered South Beach. It's a really shallow area with lots of sandbars, so probably not the most ideal snorkeling in that spot. But you can walk out really far and see fish and even stingrays by the sandbars.
  13. The BOGO is for D+ (175+ cruise points) only. I would get the 3-night package in your situation.
  14. Yup. I always laugh at that and tip them anyways. They have the big luggage crates sitting right there and they're just throwing your bag on top of the pile. I guess the bigger the tip the more gentle they are? Who knows ?
  15. For 13 days, I wouldn't chance that since the certified copies of the birth certificates have to be sent in to get the passport..and they're also needed to board the ship.
  16. Did the no show get refunded the port fees and taxes? If that didn't happen, they are entitled to that refund as well as the double points. I would have him push the issue until that gets taken care of.
  17. You drive into the parking garage and they will direct you to the luggage drop off. You stop the car and unload the luggage. The crates that they put the luggage in are right there and you watch the porter walk 2 feet with your luggage to put it on the cart. ? Then you're supposed circle around to go park if you are parking, otherwise you just drive straight out the garage exit.
  18. Everyone needs to download the Royal Caribbean app to their smartphone. Once you're on the ship they just connect to the ship's wifi and the chat will be available through the app. It allows you to send messages to other passengers onboard the ship. You have to know the passenger's legal first and last names to find them to add them to your list of chat users. There's a pretty good explanation of how it works here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2019/04/10/royal-caribbean-adds-group-chat-feature-app Sometimes the app isn't great about letting you know there are waiting messages, so you'll have to open up the app and check it every once in a while. But it's a good option on Harmony and Allure if you have people who aren't opting to purchase the VOOM online internet package.
  19. It's done really, really well if you are into the space stuff. There's lots of exhibits -- enough to keep you busy for the entire day, and a bus tour that even takes you out to see the launch pads and vehicle assembly buildings that they used. Tons of interactive stuff too with hands on exhibits and experiences. It's educational and fun and a good use of the day if you really don't have anything else you want to do during that stop, IMO.
  20. https://www.facebook.com/oldestaterums/ They host liquor tastings at various places. You may want to contact them directly to see if they know of the types of liquor stores you are seeking out. I know there were plenty liquor stores over at the Havensight pier area, but the Crown Bay pier that Royal uses requires transportation to get over there.
  21. I know I've seen President on the ships before before but I can't recall what they had on Oasis.
  22. The rule only applies to the Deluxe (alcohol) drink package and the rule is that everyone over the age of 21 in a cabin must purchase it. So in your case, yes you can purchase the Deluxe package and no one else is required to have one.
  23. Yes, they will have excursions available on the land tour. You will get the list the first night. @CGTLH may have a copy of the excursion list from our 8A cruisetour from 2014 for you to get an idea of what's offered. That cabin nite thing sounds familiar to me..I'm pretty sure it's one of the offerings.
