I feel this on so many levels. I'm 99% positive that The Boss packed shoes that she hasn't worn in years.....and still didn't wear them on the cruise🤣

P.S. - We are going with your way of having 1 luggage to check and then each having a carry on with the bulk of our stuff .  The funny thing is, our checked luggage is 50% shoes!  It's crazy but needed...sandals for the day, night sandals, beach flip flops, closed runners (for laser tag, zipline, and one of our excursion needs it).  Not sure if you find the same?

Have been thinking of you with this stress with the wather, but all will be ok.  They are saying it's NOT a repeat of last weekend and we can handle this type of snow.  Safe travels to you all, and soon you will be on the lovely Harmony with your family.

Cabin 8000, Ocean View Suite (OV)
We picked this particular sail date based on the fact it was the only one that this cabin was still available. There’s only one on the ship — the Royal Suite occupies the same spot on the other side of deck 8 forward. It sits under the Windjammer (because Vision class has the WJ forward rather than back). We heard some noise from above, but never after about 10pm so it was not a problem at all. It’s a two bedroom, TWO BATH cabin. I emphasize this because nowhere did it say there were two baths, and it was a very lovely surprise. The odd bit is that neither bedroom is a master, meaning both baths are off hallway into the living room. Also, the main bedroom has only a curtain. The second room (two twins and two pullmans) has a door.

The reason we wanted to try this room is the fact it has full suite benefits at a much reduced price, mostly because there is no balcony. Just a window with a seating area in it. We got this room for about $250 more, total, than a JS was selling for at the time of our booking, and six months later the JS was actually more expensive than what we paid. Turns out we are not missing the balcony at all, because the room is such a great size.

10/10 would book this room again!
Odd entry at the end of the hall:

Yes that's the one.  Lots of regular cruisers on there.
Wow, didn't realize there are so few of them in the whole fleet.  Great you were able to get it when they moved your cruise to  Harmony.  Looks amazing!
    Have an awesome cruise!

Have been thinking that I bet Sabrina will start a blog soon.  I checked live blogs t his morning and yah...saw your post!  We will be on Oasis when you're on Harmony so will mostly follow the pre-stuff first and then have a nice read when we get back (no internet for us as we like to disconnect).
This seems like such a special trip with your parents and sister's family.  Sorry your other sister can't make it.  That's such an amazing stateroom!!!  Maybe I missed it, but what room type is that? Am not familiar with suite classes...maybe someday. 🙂
I know what you mean...crazy snow last night.  Fingers toes and noses crossed nothing next weekend.  Safe travels.  Looking forward to hearing about your adventure!

This is Us – A Little Bit CRAZY, A Little Bit LOUD, A Whole Lot of LOVE!
10 people, one cabin, crazy cousins, “set in their ways” older parents, plus a Genie…Will we find Harmony? Nobody knows? Not even us!
This sailing as been a long time coming. I am beyond excited, and a little bit sad. Originally, we had booked this sailing for December 2020 to celebrate my Mom’s 70th birthday. We lost that sailing, and we were most fortunate to be able to reschedule it to now. However, as much as we tried to retain our original group, my other sister and her family could not make it. That leaves 10 of us, instead of 14. I am sure that our Genie is breathing a sigh of relief lol.
This is our 3rd time on Harmony, but for my parents and sister’s family, it’s their first. It is by no means anyone’s first cruise though. My parents have cruised more than any of us have, but never in suites. They are pretty stubborn inside cabin cruisers, well my Dad is anyway. This cruise is another way that we are trying to thank my parents for everything they have done for us.
We last cruised as an extended family in December 2017 on the Disney Fantasy. The kids were all a lot younger then and I am sure this experience will be a whole lot different.

Works when they take the time to adjust the app.  Then there’s the times they don’t adjust the app, make an announcement that not everyone hears and you’re standing in an empty venue wondering where the event is.

I always carry off all my luggage on a cruise.   And usually carry it all on also.   It is not an issue for us.  Even going to restaurants, etc.  But we do not bring large suitcases.   Even for trip over 2 weeks.

I'm definitely a lighter packer. My brother is now cruising with me and we got it down to 1 checked luggage. A 22in carry-on each and personal item like backpack for 2wks.

Kinda late to the party, but for our party of two adults we pack as follows:
1 each  “carry on bags” that we check with the airline(Southwest) and give to the porters. These bags contain all our clothes, toiletries, etc..
1 small under seat roller bag. This contains my CPAP machine and medical needs
1 backpack. This contains my tablet, maybe a camera, the travel docs, passports, charging needs etc…
1 small purse.  I’m too scared to ask what she puts in that 🙂
It does get tougher when you are changing climates, but we survive.
this is how we pack for any trip up to a week”ish”. We have a two week trip to Europe planned and currently we plan to pack the same, but add 1 rolling garment bag for the fancy clothes.
On cruises we don’t dress up. On formal nights I wear the same jeans and a polo shirt each time. For the casual/Caribbean, etc… nights I wear my shorts and t shirt(and ignore the stares 🙂 )

I’ve never seen a listed number limit, but I do remember seeing in the travel documents something about only brining “what its reasonable for the cruise”. Who’s to say what’s reasonable?  We just used that line to give my father in law grief about his 14 pairs of shorts he took for a 7 night trip 🙂

Thanks.  I do like your idea anyways of checking in a couple of carry ones (vs 1 big suitcase + 4 carry ons).

DH does that.  Very handy to be able to fit the backpack on top of the carry on.
Definitely helps if you can drive to the port so you don't need to worry about the airport losing your luggage.

How much luggage you take and how you pack it depends upon how you want to enjoy the cruise.  Since we are casually retired at home, we want to dress up on a cruise.  Others are just the opposite as they must dress up for work, etc.  So your clothes choice will determine suitcase size.  We have never lost luggage getting onto the ship, only off the ship (so we carry off).  Because luggage may arrive after dinner (our experience is that is 10% of the time), I wear slacks onto the ship with shorts/swimsuit in my backpack carryon.  We give just about everything else to the porters.  Whatever you choose, have a great cruise!

For cruises or land vacays, only carry-on in the Caribbean. Checked (heavier clothing) and carry-on (electronics, Rx, and fly-rods) for Alaska.
