@Susie, we may be on the same ship; Anthem leaving this Saturday. I am staying on the ship for Port Canaveral, not much nearby worth the trip for me. For Miami, I lived in South Beach my adult life until a few years ago. You can easily get an Uber or Lyft and head to where calls you. Personally, I recommend South Beach as it offers so much. You have the beautiful free beaches, cafes, people watching, great food (including Cuban food), drinks, unique boutiques, funky shops, galleries, you name it. May I suggest you walk Ocean Dr as you will recognize images of it, but do not eat or drink there. Huge tourist trap prices. Walk over to Lincoln Rd (perpendicular to Ocean, right after Ocean ends and Collins becomes ocean front, between 16th and 17th) and do Lincoln. All I mentioned above can be found there.

Yes, we will be on the same cruise. This will be my first cruise since 2019. Booked Oasis for 2020 but had to cancel. Funny is I had never been use Uber or Lyft. Thinking the same thing that will possible staying on the ship for the Port Canaveral stop but not sure yet. For Miami I am thinking of "Little Havana" and "Air Boat".  Thank you for answering my questions.

  2. I will be on the cruise and will have port of call in Orlando and Miami. I had been cruises a while but really never explore both ports other than theme park. we will be in Orlando on Monday from 12 pm to 8 pm. and Miami will be on Thursday from 7 am to 5 pm. My questions are anyone do excursion on your own at Orlando and Miami? How hard to get Taxi, Uber or Lytf to come pick you up at the cruise port? What do you all do at Miami and Orlando? Much appreciate your suggestions.

Well, they've thrown in the kitchen sink, kettle and the toaster with this one. That top deck looks like a floating CocoCay, there is so much there.

In general, it appears to me to be an evolution of the Oasis design which is good and I think will definitely appeal to me. Hopefully can sail her at one point. Though I reckon all of these ships are Caribbean bound and we won't get one in the Med.

It looks like a warm climate ship because no inside pool but I think they will sail in MED in Summer.

Curious what part you think will rise? I want to say the stairs but...it would have to move slowly, like RT. But unlike RT there's no seating which would make it difficult or unusable for people who have a hard time standing for long periods.

If it does move quickly, then whatever will be going on inside will be short lived and then it's just a glorified elevator....

I also would like to think it moves up and down but I just can't see how  so I just keep thinking it's got to do something else that we just can't imagine yet.

From the picture yes their is no seats so that could be quite danger but It got to be connect somehow from deck 5 to 8. So I don't see the point of have it on every floor from 5-8. It could be a stairs like you said but that is a lot of stairs. LOL, we just have to wait and see how RC do it.

  5. A group of 5 of us will be on Anthem of the Sea leaving Oct 29 so I assume the same cruise with you. Not plan yet for costume but I will have to find something for my 10 years old. This will be our first Halloween cruise as well. We went on Thanksgiving cruise before but not Halloween.

We ate at specialty restaurant before on Symphony OTS they are all good but to fit Halloween theme I think Wonderland will most likely fit Halloween theme. We got 3 night dinning packages but not sure we will go to Wonderland though because I am not sure my in law like Wonderland.

There's a "Soak Up Adventure Sale" going on.  Whenever a promo or a sales event is announced by Royal, I do mock "incognito" bookings of cruises I have already reserved and those I've been planning to book.  I've been doing this for about two years now and I have yet to see a real and substantial reduction in the price.  I am the type of consumer who finds this an insult to my (limited) intelligence. It's like stores who jack up prices to create the illusion of a sale.

As an aside,  I hate that Bed, Bath, & Beyond (my budget) prices their items 20% more than other stores so you can feel you're getting a discount when you use their never expiring coupons.

Don't get me wrong, I love Royal and I'm "loyal to Royal", but this approach to marketing is not one of my favorites.

I don't even pay attention to any of their sale any more. It will come up same price almost every week. I think they already set up their price for each cruise depending on demand and supply. From my observation, when the date just release (early booking) is the best time to book and around Thanksgiving.

That is one of the risks of the Royal Up program. You don't know the exact location of your cabin until it's assigned to you. Since the bids are just a fraction of the cost you would have paid if you booked the cabin originally, most people think it's worth the risk.

Yes, exactly that what my In law think but they regret their decision and get for what they paid for.

  8. This is not my experience but from My In law. They went on the cruise with us on Symphony Last week. I had my Balcony room and the location I like so I did not upgrade my room. My in law bid to upgrade their room from Inside cabin to the window. They got an upgraded room. The room look nice with window on deck 3 but there is a catch. The room # is 5380 under the Jazz on 4 where is playing Jazz music every night until 12 am or later at night. My In law are 70 years old so they like to sleep early. So be careful about the upgraded room. May not worth it. You will not know the room until last minutes and you cannot change the room after decision made.

Does anybody know anything about Pullmantur? Until the posting about Grandeur, I had never heard about the company.

No, I don't know much about it. Just knew that they got Empress for a few years then transfer back to Royal again. According to Wikipedia  has 49% of the company other 51% own by Springwater Capital. The link to Wikipedia below if anyone interest
