How about suggesting to RC to add a pizza section in windjammer?

While it is a duplicate, most of the guess will be more than happy to have pizza for lunch / dinner.

    Good point!

Imagine getting a pizza base and walking around putting whatever on it within windjammers and then getting them to cook it.

Granted some odd concoctions may occur lol

I would like a few breakfast pizzas and items for morning.  Many times I went to Starbucks on the Oasis class shipped and wished I could grab something there.

Also I do enjoy the rotating special daily pizzas.

Bacon, cheese, red onion, tomato, sausage, mushroom and egg pizza with maybe a swirl of maple syrup?

On a side note I need to visit sorrento's more often because it seems from what iam reading there is rotating options.

  3. I was just looking at the dinning options on my next cruise and i thought about sorrento's pizza?

It seems they still have the same old pizzas and there's nothing wrong with that, god nothing like a 3am drunken stumble to sorrento's! but I feel that a new pizza wouldn't go astray.

So I would like to see a escargot pizza or even a Coastal kitchen menu inspired pizza lol.

What pizzas would you like to see????

My counter to The Key not being worth it is that if this is the cruise going to Maui it is a Tender port and I have read that many times rough waters causes delays and in that instance having The Key to get Tender priority would be a big plus. I got The Key for $24.99 on our Greek Island cruise September 2019 because we were going to get an internet package anyway so it wasn't that much more and I knew we had at least one tender port, Santorini. I would not pay more than $25 per day though.

Yes, that's one of selling points for us is the priority tenders and yes the wife buys the voom.

Matt's video hit the nail on the head (as usual).
I agree with  @emmef , I would purchase them now and watch for sales. Our last cruise we bought the UBP for $52 and The Key for $18 (roughly 66 and 23 AUD). Personally, I don't think we got much value out of The Key even at that price... We were always going to buy the internet package so in the end it wasn't too much more per person per day. But I felt it wasn't as useful for us on that voyage. We didn't tender at any ports, so the biggest advantage was moot. And being in a junior suite and Platinum, I would imagine there will already be priority lines on embarkation.

Can't wait to hear about the cruise and whether or not you thought it was all worth it!

Yeah I paid for them and will rebuy if cheaper.

The biggest reason for the key is the ports and also if key activities times suits. You spend half the cruise waiting in those damn lines lol.

Fingers crossed that this cruise dows happen so I can report back hahaha.

Hmmmm, I hope for the "best" when it comes to the whole getting it "right for the future covid19 " stuff!

I will be watching for myself on shiptracker, when or if VOTS comes down to SYD by let's say mid FEB 21.

    If not...heaps craphouse for me!

Naturally it is wise to consider what other countries are doing.  The extreme CDC requirements for America are a direct reflection of the American response to the virus in general.  Those same American protocols should not be required in regions that have responded very differently to the virus.

Industry and government public health agencies need to work closely together and adapt as the virus ebbs and flows.  The American shutdown of the cruise industry is directly attributable to the actions of the American people.  We did this to ourselves.  Australians responded very differently to the pandemic and they shouldn't be bound to American style protocols.

On one end of the spectrum is the American model to restart cruising.  The other end of the spectrum is restarting cruising like there was never a pandemic.  Somewhere in between the two extremes is the right approach for Australia.

    Yes I agree,

However I do think the Australian government is over protective because of the Ruby Princess dramas, also it doesn't help when you have a lot negative nancys when it comes to cruising.

I must say too on a side note I get really pissy when I hear folks saying cruising won't happen till the year 3000AD, might be because I have a 11 night cruise booked for 23rd of March 2021 hahahahaha!

  8. Only advice I can offer from my experience on OV and dining packages is to book them ASAP!

As soon as we got on OV it was straight to Jamie's Italian to book all our speciality dining reservations for that said cruise.

On both occasions alot of people who had UDP and 3night weren't able to book certain speciality dining restaurants at the time they wanted for the day they wanted, as it is very popular on this ship.

Also why book at Jamie's? It's the least busy that's why.....easy!

And yes I ordered multiple dishes and I felt like a glutton but oh well your on holidays right!

  9. In Australia the casinos on rccl are all non smoking, as smoking in Australia is becoming fround apon so hence the restriction.

Also on my recent cruise on ovation they cut the smoking area down on the pool deck from half to a quarter! Standing room only!

    However as a non-smoker I don't believe a ship should be smoke-free.

I see it as a freedom issue!

If you want to fill your lungs with that crap so be it!, your choice.

The only suggestion I might have would be to have a nice smokers area "not a dungeon", also away from kids and overzealous non-smokers....jokes ?

Did you book it is non refundable? If not just ring RCI to cancel and rebook to take advantage of the better pricing.

It is always hard to know the best time to book. Often the rack rate is best when a cruise first comes out but the discount isn't as deep. The the cruise we just booked the rack rate has gone up $500 but the discount is deeper so it actually works out cheaper than booking early. We can also take advantage of our loyalty discount which trims another $310 off the price.

I frequently make mock bookings for cruises we want to take and take screenshots of the pricing so I can see what has changed, and what the RCI maths equation is. As RCI uses the magic word up to before any discount promotion I quite often find the price does not vary even when the switch between up to 50% off each guest and up to 30% off each guest. Sometimes OBC can make a difference to the equation but generally only when you are in a GS or above.

My advice is to book another cruise now, You'll love it.

I booked at the 40% off each guest on the thursday then Friday it changed as we know to 40% off each guess + OBC.

So I called them today and I asked "hey my booking was so close to the change of deal, can I get the $100 OBC deal still?"

They just rebooked the reservation under the new deal, same room, same price as before even tho it was NRD.....

Pretty good considering, so yes don't ask don't get I guess.

  11. Hi there,

My wife and I are working out plans for our upcoming cruise 23 November 2018 on ovation from Sydney to Tasmania.

Now are there any tips that you guys might have inregards to getting on ASAP with RC and particularly SYD terminal

    Two reasons why are,

    1. We bought the UDP, from my understanding I can only reserve once on board and id like dine to at a reasonable time lol.

    2. I'd like to avoid the lines and book the NorthStar, FLOWRIDER and IFLY.

    3. Once that the above is done we would like to greet/help our family members who are first time to cruising and RC.

We are Gold C&A and we are staying in a suite and I have been told those categories get priority boarding.

Also is there anyway I can book/reserve dining times and activities for other family members as they are let's say " technologically retarded" and will be overwhelmed as first-time cruisers...lol

Any help/comment would be great as I've heard booking and reserving is a must with quantum class and oasis class ships....cheers!
