  1. Yes, @Big Dawg Ron can personally attest to this being a thing
  2. No one knows, but probably no earlier than late November.
  3. 24 hours is the shortest duration of internet you can buy, and it can only be bought onboard.
  4. When Terminal 18 lot has been full, they just had us park at either 19 or the larger garage in the port and bus us.
  5. Totally agree with you! A very similar scenario played out for me this week when my Panama Canal cruise was rerouted and will not visit the Panama Canal at all. The disappointment with that decision (which we never got any explanation) was awful and poorly handled. I was just trying to debunk the notion they have an obligation go somewhere.
  6. Actually, they don't. I mean, they should, but they don't have a responsibility to bring you to any port you book. If you read the cruise contract you agree to when you book a cruise, they can skip any port for any reason and replace it with any other port. "Carrier may for any reason at any time and without prior notice, cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled sailing, port of call, destination, lodging or any activity on or off the Vessel, or substitute another vessel or port of call, destination, lodging or activity. " Being a human being, I get that is not what you want. It's not what I would want, and I completely understand why you're upset with the situation. It's a bad trade, but it's only because of an incredible and completely unforeseen situation. I dont think there's anything I, or anyone, can really tell you to make you feel like it's not disappointing, but when you say they have a responsibility, that's not accurate. That's a fair point, and I'm sure makes it feel even worse. We will never know why or how this occurred. It's quite likely those ships are smaller than Ovation, or those lines acted quicker and got the slot. Again, I'd be just as annoyed as you to have booked a Hawaii cruise and not actually stop in Hawaii. But I really don't believe Royal couldn't be bothered to send you somewhere else if there was an option. I think there were just crappy options left.
  7. You're punishing the wrong people. Not paying gratuities punishes the people that take of you and service you. They aren't the ones that made any decision impacting your cruise. I implore you to reconsider this.
  8. I'm not making excuses for Royal because I would be disappointed if I booked a Hawaii cruise that didn't go to Hawaii and you're now past final payment date. There's no sugar coating that. I do think you have to be a little understanding given that this wild fire is an act of God (unless it was arson? I havent tracked the story), and it is the very definition of extenuating circumstances. Moreover, cruise ship stops are not a simple task to coordinate. There are limited slots for ships in a given port, and this is the time of year when a lot of cruise ships are transitioning between Alaska and Australia.
  9. The only port I know has an issue with selection of drinks on embarkation day is in Galveston. Not Cape Liberty.
  10. Two issues I can see. First, Royal Caribbean already has the most tiers of any cruise line customer loyalty program. A few President Cruises ago, Michael Bayley brought this up and thought it was convoluted enough as it is (not his exact words). Second, I think them adding a middle tier will make some people feel Diamond is now a lower tier or just lower value.
  11. I re-read the posts, and I really don't think there was any malice with the comments. People were just trying to explain why walkie talkies are annoying to others.
  12. @Aitza Figueroa Welcome to the message boards, but this forum is an UNOFFICIAL site with no relationship to the cruise line. You need to contact iCruise, which is your defacto travel agent and have THEM deal with Royal as to why it was cancelled. It's the agent's job to be your intermediary in these sort of situations. They can at the very least get you an explanation why it was cancelled. Secondarily, NEVER Post your reservation number or personal info related to your reservation on a public forum.
  13. No, not at all. The main road is still very much open. I believe this is just a small side street most dont even know about, let alone use.
  14. This is the side street that is primarily used to get to the restaurants along the water, right? If so, it shouldn't have much of an impact other than the sneaky way out of the terminal on your way out to get to the highway.
  15. Yes they are allowed onboard, but you should be aware there are 3 reasons walkie talkies are a bad idea. 1. They are annoying to other passengers 2. They don't work well because of the ship's metal structure 3. The Royal Caribbean chat app is free to use
  16. Stay in a suite on Royal Caribbean. You'll get 2x service + free room service, and I'm betting in many cases a suite on Royal will be cheaper than a standard room on DCL
  17. Yes, a package is for the duration of the cruise. But there are 24 hour passes you can buy onboard
  18. I've done the tour: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2022/09/01/royal-caribbean-brought-back-the-behind-the-scenes-tour-heres-what-its If you think seeing the ship's bridge, engine room, galley, et al sounds interesting, then yes, it's worth it. If it sounds boring, then it's not a tour for you Photos are fine, but video prohibited
  19. Pretty much "take it or leave it". They made the change well before final payment date, and technically the cruise isn't cancelled, just rerouted.
  20. Ahem, https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2023/08/08/royal-caribbean-cancels-panama-canal-cruise-season-rhapsody-of-the-seas
