    Introduce yourself!

Hi Everyone! I'm Kerri and I'm currently living in Cincinnati, OH. I say currently because I've moved every 2-3 years for the last 11 years. I have 2 dog children, a frenchie and a great dane. We are sailing on the Harmony November 4th. I went on a carnival cruise when I was 17 on a school trip but I haven't been on one since. I talked my boyfriend into going this year and we are really excited, he has never been on a vacation cruise (we were both in the Navy but obviously that is much different). I've been stalking these boards for awhile since I am an over planner and I feel like I need all the information for all the things! LOL I look forward to getting to know some of the people on this board. I plan on taking quite a few more cruises in the future.

  4. Agree, with Brian, if the port is open generally RCI will continue to stop at the island, but instead of having 20 possible shore excursions they may only have 10 due to areas still being damaged or not accessible.

    Introduce yourself!

Welcome to the "family", Christine! Any questions about your upcoming cruise or another one you want to plan, ask away; guaranteed there will be plenty of folks here who can answer. Brian, we've talked plenty on the other boards so you get no special welcome from me.

    Introduce yourself!

Hi, I'm Christine from Toronto! So, my first RCI cruise was on the Sovereign of the Seas in February 2008, but, due to work commitments, wasn't able to book another cruise for a while. Flash forward to a number of years later, and my mom has completed three cruises with Carnival and fell in love with crusing. Instead of taking a WDW vacation which my nephew and niece would be too young to enjoy, my sister recommends a Disney Caribbean cruise on the Wonder in 2015...and then another Caribbean one on the Magic which we completed this past March LOL. Anyway last month, while out on my lunch break at work, I happened to pass by a travel agency, picked up cruise literature on a whim, and decided quite impulsively to book a solo RCI cruise for December 2018 on Adventure of the Seas :D I really want to take another solo cruise next winter to escape the cold Canadian winter, but I'm not sure what itinerary I would take. Wherever I decide to travel, I try to make a conscious decision to visit new ports, new cities. We'll see, I'm in no rush :) (Matt, if you're reading this, just wanted to thank you and your team for all of your hard work with RCB.com! This site and the podcast are a great source of information, enjoyed your recent episode on embarkation day :D) Happy cruising everyone!

  7. If the port is open, and there is damage to island, generally speaking the ship will call on that port. It only varies what you can do on the island itself.

  8. It's really too early to tell. If there is significant damage, your itinerary will be updated. Since your sailing is in November, it may not be updated until closer to your sail date. A lot can happen in ~2 months.

  10. I have heard that copious amounts of alcohol throughout the day will help this situation.

    Hurricane Irma

Since I started this thread, I'll throw out some comments. Royal has been great keeping us all informed about Irma and the ship's itinerary We're on the way to Jamica and will then head back to Mexico, Costa Maya as Labadee is not an option. The captain indicated that we will dock in FLL no later then Weds am. Based on the schedule adjustments of other sailings, I'd be surprised if we docked any earlier. We're enjoying wonderful weather despite an awful hurricane raging. Kudos to Royal. Best wishes to all those impacted.

It's ok, Matt. If you're skurred, just say you're skurred. I'm a little skurred.

    Sint Maarten

If you get a chance, search #sintmaarten on Instagram and Twitter. The photos are devastating. I am thinking and praying for our friend on that island who Matt introduced us to through his many blog posts, Leo Brown. We spent a great day with him in 2016. If anyone knows any organizations collecting support for that island, I'd love to know.
