MidwestIA started following Updated Cruise Vacation Receipt
-
Hi! We are booked for the Icon in December in an ocean view stateroom (N4). We got an email from Royal today "Vacation Mode Coming Soon" with the regular tips/notes for cruising with Royal for this reservation and a new cruise vacation receipt attached. All normal looking but I looked at the attached receipt and am now very confused. Our last vacation receipt for this reservation left our total balance due at $3,476.40 with our only payment being the $500 deposit. Today's receipt is balance due $1,151.40, with only the $500 deposit having been paid and the cruise fares being $825.70/each. The cruise fare on the same reservation back in April when I switched staterooms was $2,710.70 & $1,265.70. I have never personally experienced Royal changing the cruise fare without me calling them to reprice or making a payment. I went to the website to price out an ocean view room for that cruise and it's the same fare pricing as my April cruise receipt. I keep looking at the two PDF's trying to determine what happened but I am not seeing why they changed it. Obviously I am delighted at the new price but I feel like something is missing. Also, I checked in manage my cruise to see the new balance due and it is $1,151.70. I do not have a travel agent. Is this new? Has anybody else seen this happen?

I don't eat the rind. I like the meat and meat only. -
We have an upcoming cruise, where my family of five is traveling with my sister, her son and my parents. One of my children is listed in my sister’s room - but our reservations are linked and I can see and manage his activities. The problem is my family got a 10:30 AM embarkation time and will be driving to port canaveral from Orlando. My mom and sister will be coming from Tampa and they did not get an embarkation time until 130. My sister is also not known for being early to anything. Does anyone know if my child will be able to get on the cruise ship with me or does he have to get on with my sister because he is in her room? Most likely this won’t matter because we’re planning to try to arrive at the same time and I would like my mom and sister to come earlier, but I can’t seem to get a clear answer on this question.

I'm so glad I checked here tonight - I just modified my 3 night dining package for a cruise in sept 2026 and it was available to book all 3 nights, thanks!!

Thank you! I will do that!

I did a similar excursion through Royal in Dominican Republic at Taino Bay. We took a van to the ATV/Beach area. The beach is in the area near where you pick up and return your ATV. We had a big group, some did the beach first and others did the ATV first. When I parked my ATV I thought I would be transported to the beach. I walked a short distance and the beach was there. There is also food no drinks in the area.

Yes, just think of it as a typical style all inclusive day pass. - Yesterday

You're welcome! It wasn't a crazy deal, but since we wanted both packages, $42.99/day was much more reasonable for the Refreshment Package + VOOM. It was also nice that we each had our own login, so we didn't knock each other offline when we switched devices!

Ok. So I am going to sound like an unrefined rube here, but I just have to ask…. Are you supposed to eat the entire slab of bacon (including the rind) or are you supposed to skim the bacon away from the rind ? Sometimes that rind is like a piece of shoe leather. It tastes good, but boy, can it be tough. Maybe you aren’t even supposed to TRY and eat it !

Would it be right in thinking that it’s essentially like buying a “Resort for a Day” day pass? (Minus the hotel part) -

The mac and cheese across Royal is insane. Once I saw shells with white sauce and baked shredded cheddar, another time just slices of American cheese on dry pasta. I believe the best mac and cheese I had was from Chop's on what my friend@asquared17 calls the demon ship...aka Odyssey. I can tell you the kids mac and cheese stick things from Wonderland are also pretty decent, just a little dry (you are supposed to stick them in ketchup ). My brother is excited for Izumi in the park on Icon, he will use all his credits and possible mine. Re: pepper bacon, yours looked really cooked, which was good but it sucks that it was too fatty. -

Last week on the Symphony the Cruise Director (Steve from Canada) made a point of mentioning on most of his TV spots that it was planned to open in December. We did get to see the work they were doing as we entered the port at Nassau. Still a lot to be done. -

I guess this shows just how subjective entertainment is, but I really enjoyed it. Is it my all-time favorite? No. Would I see it again? Absolutely. I thought it was well done and very different from any other shows. As long as the vocal cast is good, it's very impressive (imo) that everything you hear is created with just voices. But realize I'm also a fan of the Effectors if that sways your opinion of my entertainment review...

As others have mentioned, we didn’t enjoy it. Just didn’t make sense to us.
