I often use the same logic. Along those lines, the embarkation buffet on Utopia has huge shrimp so I’ll probably skip the shrimp cocktail at Chops. The MDR version is pretty sad.
-
I always get it cause I can't find it anywhere else. I also get the shrimp cocktail , the shrimps are nice and plump, better then the one is the MDR, , ( years ag Royal use to serve it with a watered down sauce but now the use the real stuff). DH like the bacon and the wedge salad.

Based on glancing at menus and reading blogs, good ship for it! I was looking forward to the one new bar on Utopia… Icon has several. Thanks. I’m trying to slowly ramp back up since we have the UDP next leg. Dog House & pizza for lunch may not sound like it, lol, but you know I would normally have more than that. Yep, my wife goes back to work in late July (kids start in early August here). We’re used to it though & this 3N leg has honestly been more relaxing than the last one. Kids in places we don’t hang out can be preferable to the party crowd invading the Solarium. Felt like a lot more people got off on Nassau this time too. It wasn’t terrible last time, just pointing out a noticeable difference.

That sucks about the road. It’s been closed for so many years! We spent two nights at the backcountry lodge, then one at the cabins on the way out in 2018. That was definitely one of the biggest highlights (including the long ride to the back & out) but I don’t blame you for skipping it. After all the stuff we did in the back of the park (plus the bus rides), don’t think we did much for the half day we spent at the front but I do remember a really good pizza place in the “downtown” area that I want to say they call Glitter Gulch (like Vegas). Reindeer sausage. That’s where we stayed & did whatever the longer fjord tour was… loved that too. You booked the land portion through Pursuit, yes? Sounds great. Will follow along from Utopia when I put the food & drinks down. My only regret was not doing more during a couple of the port stops but that was such an over the top vacation for us (especially total cost) that I felt the need to cut something out.

@WAAAYTOOO Ok well if we could sail with you & Dan again, I’d consider it!!

Hey Mike, sorry about the headache but glad you are feeling better. I remember getting the worst sinus headache on my Harmony cruise a few years back and it incapacitated me. Rest made everything better. God food can help too . You guys often post drinks and I always say I am going to try something, but never do. I am finally on Icon in Jan and I will be trying a whole bunch of new things. Also I would imagine the children situation is pretty insane around this time, some schools start back next month. So parents need to be making those memories and enjoying now. -
So life has been crazy the last few months. Youngest son in travel ball, a couple cruises with just me and a couple of the kids, a few trips to Austin to check on the restaurant, and wife taking Master's classes, we are ready for a vacation together!! Writing this from the plane as I didn't have time to get this started before we left. We did Alaska back in 2019 and loved it. This trip was booked to celebrate my 45th birthday and our travel buddies (aunt and uncle) 40th wedding anniversary. So we are trying to do this trip right. Itinerary: July 12 - ORD to ANC Alaska Airlines. Couldn't afford business class, but upgraded to premium to get some extra leg room for the flight. July 13 - Glass Dome Railroad to Denali National Park. Midnight sun ATV tour. Staying in Denali Cabins. Originally wanted to stay in the back country lodges, but the road is still closed this year to get back there and flying back to them was not cost effective July 14 - TBD...will be at Denali all day so probably do some hiking and figure out what else while there. July 15 - Motorcoach to Talkeetna. Top of the World Tour to Denali with a glacier landing. Staying at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge July 16 - Motorcoach to Seward. Staying at Seward Windsong Lodge. July 17 - Northwestern Fjord Tour July 18 - Hiking in Kenai National Park then board Radiance later afternoon July 19 - Hubbard Glacier viewing July 20 - Junaeu. Still determing what we are going to do here. might just go to Mendenhall Glacier Park and do some hiking, sight seeing, July 21 - Skagway. White Pass Railroad and Yukon Suspension Bridge July 22 - Icy Straight Point. Whale Watching and Marine Mammals Cruise July 23 - Ketchikan. Hovercraft Eco Adventure & Wildlife Quest July 24 - Inside Passage July 25 - YVR to ORD American Airlines.....had points so going First Class here!! We did a 3nt dining package for the cruise and rest will either eat at the ports or do MDR. plan is to just take a ton of pictures and try to capture the beauty that is Alaska.

We used Elite Limo LI for our transportation from LGA to Cape Liberty and had a really smooth experience. We were a large group including young kids, and they were super accommodating—even had car seats available, which saved us the hassle of bringing our own. The driver was professional, arrived early, and the van was spotless and comfortable. Honestly, much more relaxing than dealing with multiple Ubers or hauling luggage on public transport. Highly recommend them if you're cruising out of Cape Liberty, especially with family.

Transportation to Cape Liberty
elitelimoli replied to tdiedrich's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We recently used Elite Limo LI for transportation from LGA to Cape Liberty, and they were fantastic. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 kids, and they were able to accommodate us comfortably with car seats provided, which was a huge relief since we didn’t want to bring our own. The driver was on time, professional, and the vehicle was super clean and spacious. Pricing was also better than what we were getting from Uber/Lyft for a group that size. Highly recommend them for anyone cruising out of Cape Liberty, especially families! -

Something else we use them for is to clip to the middle shelf of the night stand (we usually keep water or something there overnight). It saves room since the night stands can be tiny (cell phone & whatever else on top, one side has the cabin phone, etc.) and also keeps condensation off them. I think they were actually designed for desks and it’s only the blog community that uses them for lounge/beach purposes. Thanks, that certainly didn’t help & I needed sleep for sure but there was something else too. I felt awful. At least I slept through another “we have no offense” Phils game.

Ha, I thought it was the butt of the towel animal, as well... looks like something with its butt up in the air, like a dog when they pounce. Also, we had one of those fans our past few cruises, as well... big fan of them (pun intended). BUT the one we had wasn't used all winter and when we went to use it at home a few weeks ago, it was dead. Noticed a sticker on the bottom that actually says to make sure it gets used or charged occasionally if not being used...so lesson learned. Ordered a new one from Prime day yesterday so we'll have it for next month. Still going back and forth on cup clips, we don't lounge much on the ship, but might grab em for the beach visits! Glad you are feeling better, I know you said you had a lot going on before the cruise, maybe you just needed a good rest after cruise prep and real life stuff going on. -
Wife’s custom Sorrento’s order… burnt cheesy bread (yes, she wants it that way). I don’t need it that well done but it is pretty good. And she finally contributed to the voucher cause. For some reason they’re using large glasses for daiquiris this cruise. I grabbed a Polish sausage from Dog House while they made her pizza & had a Twisted Tea. Still trying to take it a bit easy after last night. No pics, it looked like a hot dog & a can. Also had some of her cheesy bread.

Nassau Beach Break and Sightseeing Tour
DuckHunter replied to Disneylover89's topic in Shore Excursions
No. But I was recently at Nassau and we rented a buggy to drive around for fairly cheap. We got around and saw alot of stuff on our own. Visit locals' favorites, avoid tourist spots. That is what we did and we loved it.
