What food is included at Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Perfect Day at CocoCay quickly became a fan favorite after its multi-million dollar renovation in 2019. Royal Caribbean transformed the island into a vibrant paradise tailored to every kind of traveler. However, many first-time visitors don't understand what is and isn't included.

CocoCay-Buffet-1

Thankfully, there are so many complimentary activities that you don't have to worry about spending extra money on the island. Everything from the sprawling beaches to the massive swimming pool, live music, and kids' splash zone is included in your cruise fare.

Perfect Day at CocoCay also offers a variety of complimentary dining options that make it easy to grab a quick snack or refuel during lunch without needing to return to the ship.

There are four Snack Shacks on the island that dish up favorites like mozzarella sticks, crispy chicken sandwiches, funnel cakes, and more.

CocoCay-Buffet-2

Chill Grill and Skipper's Grill offer more variety, from BBQ classics to tacos, sandwiches, salads, soft-serve ice cream, and more. Every dining venue also has at least one drink station with complimentary water and juice.

Guests can enjoy as much food as they'd like throughout the day. For instance, you can visit the Snack Shack for a mid-morning snack of mozzarella sticks, then head over to the buffet later for a more filling lunch.

Perfect Day at CocoCay food

Starting with the Chill Grill and Skipper's Grill, you will find everything from a taco bar to Cuban sandwiches, hot dogs, freshly grilled burgers, and more.

CocoCay-Buffet-6

The taco bar is, understandably, a favorite. Each tortilla is freshly made with the on-site tortilla press, and I think they're better than the ones served onboard at El Loco Fresh!

CocoCay-Buffet-7

Plus, there are flour and corn options. The latter is perfect for those who enjoy the traditional taste of authentic tacos (and yes, you can add cilantro and lime!).

CocoCay-Buffet-5

When it comes to protein, options typically include pork, chicken, and steak carnitas, as well as marinated beans for vegetarians.

CocoCay-Buffet-4

Mexican rice is also available. It's a great filling or side!

CocoCay-Buffet-3

There are different choices for cruisers who have had their fair share of tacos on board. Other complimentary options include burgers (with or without cheese), hot dogs, and BBQ chicken.

CocoCay-Buffet-17

And what goes better with a juicy burger than corn on the cob or French fries?

CocoCay-Buffet-18

Once you’ve filled your plate, the salsa and toppings bar is a must-visit. Whether you want to spruce up your burger with tomatoes, lettuce, and onions or fill your taco with cheese, guacamole, shredded cheese, and jalapeños, there's no shortage of ways to customize your meal.

Toppings bar

There's even a decent selection of hot salsas for those who want an extra kick.

CocoCay-Buffet-10

In addition to all the island BBQ staples, Chill Grill and Skipper’s Grill also serve up a variety of ready-to-go sandwiches.

CocoCay-Buffet-14

These include the shaved ribeye cheesesteak sandwich, the Cuban sandwich, and the portobello & mozzarella sandwich.

CocoCay-Buffet-13

There's an assortment of fresh salads, too.

CocoCay-Buffet-16

From crisp mixed greens to the heartier country potato salad and refreshing tomato cucumber salad, there's a side for everyone.

CocoCay-Buffet-19

No beach day is perfect without fresh fruit, either.

CocoCay-Buffet-20

You can grab as many slices of watermelon, pineapple, bananas, or oranges as your heart desires since it's all included.

CocoCay-Buffet-21

And to satisfy those with a sweet tooth, there are brownies and cookies (conveniently located near the fruit).

CocoCay-Buffet-22

I love getting a brownie and topping it with vanilla soft-serve ice cream! You can even make a small ice cream sandwich to enjoy on the beach.

CocoCay-Buffet-23

Outside of the two buffets, there are four Snack Shacks around the island, located in Breezy Bay, Thrill Waterpark, Hideaway Beach, and South Beach.

CocoCay-Snack-Shack-1

Although some of the food is the same as the buffets (i.e., chocolate chip cookies, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and chocolate caramel brownies), there are a few items that have developed a cult-like following — most notably, the mozzarella sticks

Serving of Mozzarella sticks

Pro tip: Order the crispy chicken sandwich and mozzarella sticks with marinara to create a DIY chicken parmigiana sandwich. Instead of the cheese being melted, you get an extra crunch from the breaded mozzarella sticks.

CocoCay-Snack-Shack-2

You can also order lighter options from the Snack Shack, such as a grilled vegetable salad or a Greek salad.

Coco Beach Club menu and food

Coco Beach Club is not included in your cruise fare. However, if you purchase admission to the upscale club, you can eat at the private restaurant, which features an elevated 3-course menu, for no extra charge.

Beach Club menu

The sit-down meal begins with a selection of tapas, including hummus, ceviche, and baba ganoush. Then, you can pick a made-to-order entrée. The entrées aren't basic hot dogs or burgers, either — think entire lobsters, filet mignon, and garlic tiger prawns.

Coco Beach Club food

The third course, dessert, shouldn't be missed. It features decadent options like the Bahamian rum-soaked cake, tropical fruit sorbet, and brownies.

Hideaway Beach Coco Cay food

Like with the Coco Beach Club, Hideaway Beach isn't part of the complimentary amenities at CocoCay. That said, the adult-only beach is more reasonably priced compared to Coco Beach Club.

coconut-shrimp-hideaway

The food at Hideaway Beach is also included in the price of admission — and there are a few exclusive options that can't be found at other venues around the island.

For example, although the Hideaway Hut essentially is just another Snack Shack, it also offers a coconut shrimp basket (my personal favorite!), a fish sandwich, and ceviche.

Slice of Paradise menu

Additionally, Hideaway Beach is the only place on the island where guests can get pizza and empanadas. The Island Guava Barbeque Chicken is a favorite for its sweet and tangy flavor.

Man breaks Guinness World Record on Royal Caribbean cruise

One Royal Caribbean guest sailed straight into the Guinness World Records after running the fastest marathon distance run on a ship in December 2024.

Marathon-Cruise-Ship-World-Record-Hero

Shane Wood's New Year's cruise on Ovation of the Seas was more than just a holiday vacation with his family.

While sailing in the Tasman Sea from Sydney, Australia, to New Zealand, Wood attempted to break the world record for the fastest marathon distance run (completed by a male).

He crossed the "finish line" in record time, completing the marathon in just 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 47 seconds. In total, he ran 78 laps around the 1,141-foot-long cruise ship and had an overall pace of 4 minutes and 10 seconds per lap.

Marathon-Cruise-Ship-World-Record-Shane-Wood

While the Ovation of the Seas feat earned him a Guinness World Records title, it wasn’t his fastest marathon to date; he completed the 2024 Melbourne Marathon in 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 14 seconds.

It also wasn't the first time he had ever run a marathon on a cruise ship. While sailing on a Royal Caribbean cruise in 2023, he impulsively decided to run a full marathon on a port day in Noumea when the vessel was empty.

"I've always looked for things to motivate my training and challenge myself, and this felt like one of those moments," he said in an exclusive interview with Royal Caribbean Blog.

Marathon-Cruise-Ship-World-Record-Shane-Wood-2

His friend mentioned that he might have broken the unofficial record for the fastest marathon run on a ship.

Curious, he did some digging and eventually contacted Guinness World Records. It took over one year to get the attempt registered and to work through the logistics, but it gave his training more of a purpose.

After completing a marathon in October 2024, Wood took a few weeks to recover before hyperfocusing on preparing for the world record attempt on his holiday cruise.

Shane-Running-Pacer-Marathon

"[I] went straight into a focused two-month marathon training block specifically to prepare for the Gusiness World Record attempt," he recalled.

He already had a solid foundation in place, though. In a normal week, he runs an average of 120 kilometers (~74 miles), so while he had two months of dedicated marathon prep, it wasn't anything he wasn't used to.

Wood added, "[My training] was really built on years of consistent high-volume training."

Shane-Marathon-Running

That consistency started nearly a decade ago, when he first took up running at the age of 45. At the time, his daughter was on her school's rowing team, and they trained as early as 7:00 a.m. After dropping her off, he began walking on the bay's running track. Soon enough, the walks turned into runs, and as her training schedule intensified, he found himself running more often.

What's next for Wood? Since becoming a Guinness World Record holder, he has continued to train and compete in various marathons. However, his main goal is to break the Australian male 55 marathon record of 2 hours, 37 minutes, and 14 seconds — nobody has beaten the time since George McGrath set it in 1975, though John Meagher tied the record in 2018.

"Alongside that, I'm also working to maintain my 3-hour marathon pacer role, which I really enjoy...It's incredibly rewarding to help other runners achieve their goals while staying sharp myself," he said.

You can follow Wood's running journey on his Instagram

Not the first time Ovation of the Seas has been involved in a Guinness World Record

In 2016, Ovation of the Seas helped earn Royal Caribbean a Guinness World Record for the tallest observation deck on a cruise ship.

The North Star Observation Capsule measured 290 feet and 8 inches above the water line on October 29, 2016, in Hong Kong, China.

That said, Ovation of the Seas wasn't the first cruise ship with this innovative feature. The North Star initially debuted on Quantum of the Seas in 2014. Since then, it's become a Quantum Class staple aboard Quantum, Anthem, Ovation, Spectrum, and Odyssey of the Seas.

Tropical storm path forces Royal Caribbean ship to remain in Puerto Rico overnight

Royal Caribbean changed an itinerary on its newest ship to avoid Tropical Storm Jerry.

Star-Tropical-Storm-Jerry-Hero

The disturbance developed into a tropical storm on October 7, which prompted Star of the Seas to cancel a scheduled port of call in St. Maarten. Instead, the 248,663 gross-ton ship will remain in San Juan, Puerto Rico, overnight on Oct 8.

The 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise departed on Sunday, Oct. 5, from Port Canaveral, Florida. Thankfully, guests were able to enjoy their visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay on Monday, followed by a day at sea on Tuesday.

"Due to the expected path of Tropical Storm Jerry, The A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facilities wishes to inform the public of the following ship cancellation: Star of the Seas. Thursday, October 9th, 2025," the Port St. Maarten Group shared on Facebook

Star of the Seas

A current passenger confirmed the change, saying that the Cruise Director delivered the news via the intercom across the ship and into everyone's cabins.

"[The] cruise director [spoke] right to our cabin in an announcement. Two days in San Juan instead," Sheri Edmondson-Wood commented on Port St. Maarten Group's post.

Star of the Seas arrived in Puerto Rico around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8. She will remain there overnight until Oct. 9, giving guests more time to enjoy Puerto Rican cuisine and take advantage of the nightlife.

A few weeks ago, Star had another Caribbean itinerary changed to avoid a strengthening tropical storm system in the Atlantic Ocean.

Rather than sailing to the Eastern Caribbean, Royal Caribbean's newest ship headed west to steer clear of the storm and rough seas. This meant they did not visit the cruise line's private island in The Bahamas.

Guests were notified of the itinerary change before embarkation in an email.

How strong is Tropical Storm Jerry?

Jerry-11am-update

As of the National Hurricane Center's (NHC) 11:00 a.m. AST advisory on Oct. 8, Tropical Storm Jerry had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and was headed west-northwest at 23 mph.

Tropical Storm Jerry is the 10th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season and could strengthen into a hurricane by Thursday as it continues to churn over the open ocean.

Regardless, the storm is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to parts of the northern Leeward Islands, British Virgin Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands, including heavy rainfall from Thursday to Saturday.

Hurricane as seen from space

Tropical storm watches have been placed into effect for cruise destinations like St. Kitts, St. Maarten, Antigua, and Anguilla.

As such, more cruise ships will likely begin to adjust their plans, especially those with scheduled visits to the Eastern Caribbean, as Jerry continues on its projected path.

For example, Oasis of the Seas, an Oasis Class ship currently on a 7-night Caribbean cruise, is expected to call at St. Kitts on Oct. 9.

Royal Caribbean clarifies drink card question cruisers have debated for years

In:

Allie Hubers

Royal Caribbean has officially confirmed that its Specialty Coffee Card can be used on multiple cruises, ending years of confusion among loyal guests.

For years, Royal Caribbean cruisers were unsure about policies regarding the Specialty Coffee Cards offered by the cruise line. As one of the more popular drink add-ons, a Specialty Coffee Card provides 15 punches for specialty coffees at a discounted rate. This includes everything from iced lattes to chai teas and Frappuccinos during your cruise.

However, one of the biggest points of confusion surrounding the coffee card was whether any unused punches could be carried over to future cruises. Some cruisers would share success stories of using the same card on multiple Royal Caribbean cruises, while others were told the punch card was only valid for the one sailing.

Now, Royal Caribbean has clearly stated that Specialty Coffee Cards can be used during multiple sailings. During a recent cruise aboard Oasis of the Seas, Marc Van Niekerk, a Royal Caribbean Blog reader, shared photos of an updated version of the card.

The text on the back of the Specialty Coffee Card now clearly reads, “This card is shareable and multiple orders can be redeemed at one time. Card is also transferable to any other Royal Caribbean ship and sail date. Specialty coffees do not include beverages from licensed Starbucks stores.”

In addition, Royal Caribbean’s Cruise Planner has updated verbiage on the Specialty Coffee Card description to reflect the policy change. The Cruise Planner now states, “The Specialty Coffee Card can be used on future sailings if punches aren’t depleted. There is no minimum purchase or maximum limit when using the Specialty Coffee Card.”

Now, we have official confirmation that unused punches don’t expire at the end of your cruise and can be redeemed on future Royal Caribbean sailings. This update allows cruisers to get more value from their purchase by using any remaining punches on their next cruise. Most importantly, there is no longer any confusion about how the Specialty Coffee Card can be used for multiple cruises.

The policy clarification is a welcome change for coffee-lovers

While Royal Caribbean provides drip coffee as a complimentary beverage, specialty coffees come at an additional cost. According to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner, the Specialty Coffee Card can save cruisers up to 50% on specialty beverages during their cruise.

With 15 punches on each card, guests can use one punch to cover smaller drinks like a single espresso, tall latte, chai latte, specialty tea, or hot chocolate. Two punches are required for larger beverages such as a double espresso, grande or venti lattes, chai lattes, teas, hot chocolate, or a Frappuccino.

There’s no denying the Specialty Coffee Card can be a great value if you plan to splurge on specialty coffees during your cruise. However, there has been longtime confusion regarding the number of cruises you could use the card.

Cruisers often debated the policy, with some stating you can use the card over multiple itineraries. Others argued that crew members advised that Specialty Coffee Cards could only be used during one cruise, and the punches would not transfer to another sailing.

In fact, one Royal Caribbean Blog reader posted on our forum last year, “If I purchase a coffee card but do not use all the allotments, can I use the same card on my next sailing on a different vessel?”

The post received many replies from other Royal Caribbean cruisers with a mix of responses. Some had luck using the coffee card multiple times, while others weren’t as lucky.

One responder said, “It is a 'your mileage may vary' situation. I've been able to and been denied. I have never seen a "sale" on the coffee card-always $31.00. I do not know if you can purchase it on board. If it is available onboard for the same price, why not try the old card, and if denied, purchase a new one.”

“My last coffee card had the ship name, supporting "no" answer. However, if the ship name is blank, some folks use it. The description in cruise planner should mention a single cruise,” replied another cruiser.

One cruiser also said, “Tried it once and it was a no-go.”

Others had better luck, writing, “I have purchased many coffee cards and always used them ship to ship and have never had an issue.”

"I just saw this asked on Facebook, and was actually surprised that the answers seemed to vary, but leaned heavily toward yes. A LOT of people said they have used them on multiple cruises with no problem, especially if they did not write the ship name on the card.  Some even said they were specifically told they were allowed to do so, which is why they bought them,” shared one cruiser.

“I did, twice on the same ship. I was even told I could by the cafe staff. I did cross out the old cabin # and put in the new one in pen so they would put the right one down to get their share of gratuities,” explained another traveler. Now, it's clarified that guests can take advantage of their coffee cards for multiple sailings, if they choose.

In general, people love the Specialty Coffee Card for its convenience and value

Coffee-Card-Wonder-Atrium

Many Royal Caribbean cruisers are fans of the Specialty Coffee Card, as it provides a great value for those who like to start their morning with a latte or cappuccino. For example, on a Reddit post regarding whether the coffee card is worthwhile, the majority of responders were proponents.

Because $31 covers 15 punches, each specialty coffee averages around $2 per beverage for single-shot espressos. This can be significant savings if you’re someone who drinks specialty coffees each morning, which can easily cost $5 to $7 per drink.

Regular coffee drinkers find the Specialty Coffee Card can pay for itself within the first few days of a cruise. In addition, many cruisers love the card’s flexibility and convenience. Because the coffee card is sharable, you can split beverages with your travel party. It can also be used for a variety of espresso-based drinks, including iced lattes, cappuccinos, chai teas, Frappuccinos, and more.

With this flexibility, cruisers find the Specialty Coffee Card to be an appealing alternative to the pricier drink packages offered by Royal Caribbean.

In addition, because you’ve already prepaid for your specialty coffee, you don’t have to worry about a surprise bill at the end of your cruise. Whether you want an afternoon pick-me-up from Cafe Promenade or you look forward to a frothy latte every morning, the Specialty Coffee Card can be a great way to save money for coffee-lovers.

This is a simple and budget-friendly way to enhance your Royal Caribbean cruise, especially if you aren’t a fan of the provided drip coffee. And now, the card is even more valuable with confirmation that you can enjoy unused punches for future sailings.

I paid $59 for a whiskey tasting in a classic train car on a cruise ship. It's the future of experiential travel fun

Royal Caribbean has a whiskey tasting class that takes you on a virtual trip to the Old West for a multisensory experience.

Whiskey Tasting on Royal Railway

When Utopia of the Seas launched, it had the first Royal Railway restaurant onboard that makes it feel like you're riding in a classic train car.

The immersive dining experience caught a lot of people's attention, and it's usually sold out on most sailings.

Since its debut, Royal Caribbean has added Royal Railway Utopia Station Whiskey Tasting as another way to leverage the new venue.

I wanted to see how a shorter duration experience compares, as well as try out top shelf whiskey!

Whiskey tasting in a train car

Royal Railway

Alcohol tasting classes aren't new to Royal Caribbean ships, but holding them in a classic train car is not conventional.

If you're not familiar with the new train car experience, this is a custom built platform that simulates what it would look and feel like to ride in a classic train car.

Ticket to whiskey tasting experience

Tickets are delivered to your stateroom, and there's even a platform to wait on to board the train.

Once inside, the car has windows, jostles, rumbles, and does just about everything to evoke the feel of a late 19th century train without the coal or smoke.

The difference between the full restaurant and the whiskey tasting is how much of the story element is incorporated into it all.

Bottles of whiskey

The class features three varieties of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. As a novice whiskey drinker, I'm told this is an above average brand.

The cost of the class is $70, although I was able to get it for $59.00 because of a well-timed sale.

You'll be assigned a seat. Tables come in two or four top configurations, and they will seat strangers with you if there are open spots because the restaurant is so small.

Train car seats

Similar to the restaurant experience, your journey begins seated in the train with the simulated ride commencing and the windows opening up.

Each window provides a high definition view of the Old West, and it's so darn impressive to watch.

Royal Railway

The combination of the imagery, rumblings, and sounds all combine to make it truly seem like you're riding on a train.

The class is lead by a bartender, who is dressed from the time period.

Whiskey tasting host

In front of you are three shots of whiskey:

  • Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey
  • Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey
  • Uncle Nearest Rye Whiskey
Whiskey shots

There's also a plate of nuts and cheese to snack on to help cleanse your palate between sips.

Whiskey tasting snacks

Unlike the restaurant, there's no real story here. The crew member leans into the Old West motif, but there's no bandit, gun fight, or any kind of arc to the experience. The focal point is sampling the drinks.

With each whiskey, you're given an explanation of what makes it different from the rest and how to properly sip it.

It's interesting the difference swirling the drink or not makes, as well as the first sip versus subsequent sips.

Whiskey glass

I never order whiskey on my own, so taking this class was about better understanding why I might prefer one variety over another.

After you drink all three samples, an old fashioned cocktail is brought out made from the whiskey.

Old fashioned

While the straight whiskey is definitely strong, the old fashioned tasted very smooth. I guess I haven't graduated yet to enjoying straight shooting whiskey quite yet.

The entire class took about 35 minutes, which makes it a quick experience overall. In fact, I was a little surprised by how short the class lasted.

Uncle nearest whiskey

What I liked about the Utopia Station Whiskey Tasting is it combines an informative tasting experience with a fun venue.

I see this as a two part experience: alcohol tasting and train ride.

Royal Caribbean offers other seminars on drinks, such as wine pairings. Generally, they seem to all be well-received and this was no exception.

I appreciated the explanations of how one whiskey variety is different from another, as well as the opportunity to simply venture out and try it.

Whiskey

The x-factor is the train ride, because unlike other drink tastings, this one takes place in a really cool venue.

For those that haven't had the chance to experience the sit down meal, the whiskey tasting is a great example of why the tech behind it all is so impressive.

Royal Caribbean invested a lot into building out the train experience, and I really think it's a must-see.

Explanation of whiskey

Given the fact you're getting three whiskey shots and a full cocktail, the price is not unreasonable at all.

Cocktails usually cost about $14 each at a bar, and a shot of higher quality liquor can easily cost $12-14 each (if not more).

Plus, the whiskey tasting is cheaper than the restaurant meal, so it allows you to get a sense of what the venue is all about without paying a higher price.

Cruise and Cabin Necessities

From magnetic hooks for your stateroom to travel-sized toiletries, these cruise essentials will make your cabin more functional and your cruise smoother.

1. Magnetic Hooks

Cruise staterooms are very compact, and much smaller than a standard hotel room. You’ll want to optimize your small space as much as you can. For this reason, magnetic hooks are extremely popular for cruisers.Because cabin walls are typically magnetic, these hooks hang directly on the wall. This gives you additional hanging space for jackets, lanyards, hats, and bags.

2. Cruise Luggage Tag Holders

Both luggage tags on the suitcase

You’ll need to print your luggage tags at home and place the tags on your suitcases for embarkation day. Just like an airport, larger suitcases will be checked with cruise porters and delivered to your stateroom onboard.

Keep your printed luggage tags safe from water and damage during embarkation day with these holders. The clear sleeves help your luggage tag stay secure, and will protect your printed tag from rainy weather. They’re a small purchase that can make a big difference!

3. Portable Fans

If you’re heading somewhere warm for your cruise, you should consider packing a portable fan. Some prefer to have foldable fans in their cruise cabins to improve airflow and keep the cabin cooler at night. Others might prefer a hand-held fan that can be used during shore excursions or around the ship.

4. Motion-Activated Night Light

motion-sensor-nightlight

Our readers love this motion-activated night light, especially those who book interior cabins. Without natural light, it can be hard to navigate your stateroom at night. This highlight is motion censored to illuminate with movement, so it won’t wake up your cabin mates. In addition, it’s compact, easy to pack, and includes a magnetic base with sticky adhesives.

Product Link: Cruise On Motion-Activated Battery LED Light with Magnetic Base, 360° Rotating Night Lamp for Closets, Bathrooms, Hallways & Cabinets, Wireless, Easy Install, Auto Sensor for Hands-Free Illumination

Price: $14.39 (40% off)

5. Pop-Up Mesh Hamper

One of my favorite purchases for my cruise cabins has been a pop-up mesh hamper. This helps keep my stateroom organized and less cluttered. It’s lightweight and takes up virtually no space in my suitcase. This hamper makes it easy to contain dirty clothes in one spot rather than letting them pile up around the cabin.

Product Link: 2 Pcs Strong Mesh Pop-up Laundry Hamper, Quality Pop Up Hampers for Laundry with Durable Handles Solid Bottom High Carbon Steel Frame, Easy to Open and Fold Flat for Storage(Black)

Price: $13.59 (20% off)

6. Hanging Cosmetic Organizer

Cruise cabins are small, but the cabin bathrooms are even smaller. There can be limited counter space with minimal shelving, making it hard to store all of your toiletries and products. I never cruise without my hanging cosmetic organizer, as it’s easy to store on the back of the bathroom door. It’s the perfect solution to keep my skincare, makeup, and cosmetics nearly stored without cluttering the bathroom vanity.

Product Link: NISHEL Travel Toiletry Bag for women, Portable Hanging Organizer for Travel-Sized Shampoo, Conditioner, Brushes Set, makeup Accessories, Medium Size, Pink

Price: $14.32 (20% off)

7. Cruise Door Magnets

Decorating your cruise cabin door is becoming increasingly popular on ships. You’ll notice many cruisers like to decorate their cabin doors with fun magnets. This is a fun way to jazz up your stateroom, and many cruisers say it helps find their cabin. Magnets are easy to pack because they won’t take up too much luggage space and doesn’t leave any residue on the door.

Product Link: PHOGARY 17pcs Hawaiian Magnets for Cruise Door Decorations, Funny Luau Tropical Magnets for Cruise Metal Door Summer Hawaiian Party Decor

Price: $4.49 (50% off)

8. Travel Toiletry Bottles

If you’re trying to save space in your cruise cabin (or your suitcase!), consider using travel toiletry bottles. These allow you to bring your favorite products from home in these leak-resistant bottles.

Product Link: Travel Bottles for Toiletries, Tsa Approved 3oz Travel Size Containers BPA Free Leak Proof Refillable Liquid Silicone Squeezable Travel Accessories for Shampoo Conditioner Lotion (4 Pack)

Price: $7.99 (20% off)

Suitcases and Luggage Accessories

You’ll need a reliable suitcase to bring on your cruise, regardless of whether you’re flying or driving to the cruise port. I typically bring a carry-on suitcase aboard the ship and only check a larger suitcase for longer itineraries. After finally investing in higher-quality luggage, navigating the airports, hotels, train stations, and cruise terminals has been much better!

Royal Caribbean changes cruise itinerary to avoid hurricane

Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas will skip two ports of call on its current Panama Canal cruise due to two storms in the Pacific Ocean.

Radiance of the Seas docked in Skagway

Guests sailing aboard Radiance of the Seas' October 4, 2025, cruise were notified that they'd no longer visit Cabo San Lucas or Mazatlán. Instead, the ship will spend two extra days at sea on Oct. 6 and 7.

"Along with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer, we’ve been closely monitoring a tropical disturbance that is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone forming along our voyage path," reads the email sent to impacted passengers.

"These [storms’] forecast track makes it hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey toward Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlán, Mexico. So, after exploring all of our options, we’ve decided to enjoy two (2) Sea Days instead."

Radiance of the Seas

Although skipping two ports is disappointing, Royal Caribbean emphasized that the safety and comfort of its guests and crew remain the company’s top priority.

Moreover, passengers will receive a non-refundable onboard credit based on their stateroom category as compensation:

  • Inside: $75 USD
  • Outside: $100 USD
  • Balcony: $175 USD
  • Suite: $200 USD
  • 3rd or more guests: $25 USD per person

Any pre-paid excursions booked through Royal Caribbean for Cabo and Mazatlán will be refunded as onboard credit that can be used anywhere on the ship. Unused credit from the refunded tours will be reimbursed to the credit card associated with the guests' onboard account at the end of the sailing.

The email continues, "We’re terribly sorry for this last-minute change caused by the weather – your safety is our top priority. Please know, being onboard is one of the safest places because our ship can quickly move out of the way of any inclement weather."

Reminder to "washy washy"

After nearly 100 passengers were sickened on a recent sailing on Serenade of the Seas, Royal Caribbean reminded guests of the importance of washing their hands frequently, especially since illnesses like norovirus can spread quickly in shared spaces:

"As we’ll be spending more days at sea than planned, we want to remind you to please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds after restroom breaks and again before eating."

"We also encourage you to use the complimentary hand sanitizing gel available throughout the ship as often as possible. The gel should be rubbed thoroughly and continuously until your hands are dry. However, the hand sanitizing gel is not a substitution for thorough hand washing with soap and warm water."

When Legend of the Seas launches, Royal Caribbean has big plans for how it will be different from the other Icon Class ships.

Legend of the Seas sailing in 2026

Entering service in 2026, Legend of the Seas will be the third Icon Class ship. But it definitely won't be a carbon copy of the ships that preceded it.

This is going to be one of the biggest cruise ships in the world, with a capacity of 5,610 passengers at double occupancy and 2,350 crew members working onboard.

The cruise line shared new details of the major changes on Legend, including entertainment, dining, and activities.

Here’s a look at the biggest changes guests can expect.

New experiences

Legend of the Seas rendering

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean, said in a statement Legend will be a bold push forward for the Icon Class, "With Legend of the Seas, we are bringing to life our most legendary vacation yet as we continue to push the boundaries with more of what guests know and love."

Royal Railway rendering

Royal Railway Legend Station will be on the ship, making it the first Icon Class ship to have the immersive dining experience.

First introduced on Utopia of the Seas, Royal Railway is a dining experience that combines food, sound, and visuals that makes you feel like you're on a classic train.

This version will be expanded into a five-course “expedition” along the Silk Routes, inspired by the travels of Marco Polo.

Guests will enjoy flavors and history through China, India, Italy and more.

Charlie and Chocolate factory logo

Legend of the Seas will also be home to a Broadway musical.

Roald Dahl’s "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has been confirmed as the musical onboard.

The world of Willy Wonka will be brought to the stage, and it's included in your cruise fare.

AquaDome show on Star of the Seas

Besides the Royal Theater Legend of the Seas will have shows offered in the AquaTheater and Absolute Zero ice rink.

The AquaDome AquaTheater will host divers, aerialists, robots, and dancers.

Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea, will feature new skating productions.

Surfside

Another change will be the a reimagined Surfside and Playscape.

Royal Caribbean wants to offer even more for families with young kids, and promises a new carousel in Surfside and a redesigned Playscape for youngsters.

New dining

Supper Club concept art

You'll also find new dining options on Legend of the Seas, with a mix of reimagined and new offerings. Legend of the Seas will have a total of 28 options to dine at.

The AquaDome Market will have all new food stands, along with a brand-new juice and smoothie bar serving freshly squeezed refreshments.

AquaDome Market on Star of the Seas

This is a food hall, where you can go throughout the day and night to enjoy quick bites made exactly the way you like them. It's not only complimentary, but has been consistently a fan-favorite dining area.

A new supper club will also be implemented, with the Hollywoodland Supper Club.

A brand-new concept blending gourmet dining, cocktails, and jazz with a journey through the golden age of cinema, from the 1910s to the 1950s.

Basecamp

Other returning restaurants confirmed for Legend include:

  • Surfside Eatery
  • Basecamp
  • Chops Grille
  • Izumi
  • Hooked Seafood

There will be more than 20 bars on Legend of the Seas, including:

  • Lou's
  • Dueling Pianos
  • 1400 Bar

The family fun you expect on an Icon Class ship

Legend docked at CocoCay

Legend continues Royal Caribbean’s tradition of adrenaline and relaxation with:

  • Category 6 Waterpark: Six massive waterslides.
  • Crown’s Edge: A part-zip line, part-skywalk suspended 154 feet above the ocean.
  • Lost Dunes Mini Golf and Adrenaline Peak Rock Climbing for active fun.
  • Seven pools

Sailing in 2026

Introducing Legend of the Seas

Legend will debut with 7-night Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Rome, visiting destinations like Marseille, Naples, and Palma de Mallorca.

In November 2026, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale for 6- and 8-night Caribbean itineraries, including Aruba, Curaçao, and Royal Caribbean’s top-rated private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Bookings are open for all of its sailings through April 2027.

Royal Caribbean changes kids club prices for nursery and late night care

In:

Matt Hochberg

Prices are going up for certain services in Royal Caribbean's kids club.

Adventure Ocean with kids

Adventure Ocean is the name of the kids club on all of the line's ships, and while most of the programming is included in your cruise, fare there are a couple areas that come with an extra cost.

However, if you elect to leave your kids with the counselors late at night and/or take advantage of the nursery services, there's an hourly cost to it.

The Royal Caribbean app is showing a change to the hourly rate for both of these areas.

Late night cost change

Adventure Ocean

Adventure Ocean is complimentary up until 10pm, but from 10pm to 1am, there's an hourly charge for kids staying for the late night party.

Royal Caribbean Blog reader Megan Audette spotted the change in the app.

Within Adventure Ocean for kids between 3 years old and 12 years old, after 10pm, the price is going up from $10 per hour per child to $15 per hour per child.

Adventure Ocean cost change

There is still no charge for Adventure Ocean when the club is open earlier in the day.

Hourly nursery costs

The cost of dropping toddlers in the nursery is also changing.

Adventure Ocean Babies is available for toddlers infants and toddlers between the age of 6 - 36 months. Unlike the older kids areas, there's an hourly charge for the nursery throughout the day and evening.

Nursery cost change

The new cost for the nursery will be:

  • $9 per hour until 6pm (previously $6 per hour)
  • $12 per hour thereafter (previously $8 per hour)

Because babies require more attention than Adventure Ocean, the nursery is more specialized and offers child care that caters to each baby. Plus, they can feed children in their care and put them down for naps.

A supervised solution for vacation

Icon AO babies room_0.

If you haven't taken advantage of Royal Caribbean's kids care, it's one of my family's favorite benefits of cruising.

Adventure Ocean is designed around offering a place for children to play and have fun while their parents can go elsewhere and enjoy time apart.

When my kids were young enough to be in the nursery or Adventure Ocean, we always took advantage of its offerings because it was a win-win for all of us.

Adventure Ocean open house

The kids got an escape from hanging out with mom and dad, and that meant games, art, movies, and playing with other kids.

My wife and I loved Adventure Ocean because it was supervised and gave us the chance to have a dinner or evening alone.

Most of the care is included, but the extra costs have always been well-worth it, in my opinion.

Icon Adventure Ocean Sign

Ever since we tried the nursery for the first time, I was blown away by how all encompassing the service is. The staff really love their job and they always went to great lengths to make sure our children were happy.

When my kids were old enough for the main club, staying for late night was always a highlight.

Most kids get picked up before 10pm, but the ones that remain usually get to indulge in special activities because there are less kids overall.

Royal Caribbean has steadily increased the space and offerings of Adventure Ocean on its ships, with the new Icon Class ships offering an incredible variety of programming for families.
