Does anyone know if is it possible to book cruise for full refundable fare and once casino prime certificate become available in April apply this certificate and pay fees only ?

Of course switch would happened before final payment date.

I don’t think you can switch a current booking to a new Prime Casino booking…but you can apply the value of the certificate to the current booking.

That’s what I usually do. I think the certificate is for a free 7 night Caribbean cruise for two. There are no 7 night Caribbean cruises from Bayonne. I’m pretty sure they don’t consider the Bahamas as ‘Caribbean’ even though it’s sometimes referred to as such. The Bahamas are in the Atlantic.

The best bang for the buck would be to use it for the 7 night Caribbean. It usually covers everything except port fees and taxes. But, I’m not flying to Florida for that. I’ll just take the value.

Thank you for your comment. What makes you say that prime certificate is for Caribbean cruises only ? I was under impression that we can use it for any cruise up to seven days excluding certain periods and new ships

Best you can do is cancel and rebook with the Prime offer, but I don't see what benefit that gives you with booking it initially.

place in the almost full sailing (Baltimore->Bahamas)

I don't think that matters.  The casino only has a certain amount of cabin inventory available to them.  So the ship can be almost empty but if the casino inventory has already been taken then you won't be able to book it on a casino comp.
i.e. booking a room on an non-comp fare in hopes to "save" a cabin for yourself to book a casino comp later won't work, it's 2 different buckets of inventory.

Just to be clear, it's comps only.  I believe dollars off or applied to a current booking doesn't count against the inventory (but I definitely could be wrong)

got it, thanks !

The husband has his annual prime cruise booked out of Bayonne.  It’s not an issue.  It’s good anywhere they sail, 7 day or less cruise, with exceptions such as ship must be out over a year and last  year most ships were excluded during summer months. (Restrictions subject to change this year)

Reading through this and want to know if I understand correctly.  I have a cruise booked for Christmas time with 3 balcony rooms and up until this point, I have only paid the initial deposit.  Next month, I should get my annual prime cruise certificate.  Am I understanding correctly that I can use the cash value of the certificate and apply it towards the room I am staying in and already have booked?  I have only ever used the certificates as room comps for new bookings and never traded them in for cash value before, it would be cool if I could apply it towards my upcoming cruise.

You used to be able to do this but then again, you used to be able to convert an existing booking to a casino comp and just pay a [then small] upcharge for whatever the upgrade is.  So I don’t know if they still allow you to use the $value of the comp towards the balance due on an existing booking or not.  I would tend to think that the answer is “yes” b/c this is much better for them than granting you a completely new full comp.  But who’s, these days…

It sounds like BrianB does this. I tried this once and was told I’d have to reprice-I called 3 times and received the same answer and gave up.
keep in mind that holidays were on the excluded list last year I don’t know if that impacts applying trade in value.  The trade in value of the prime cruise is $500.

I am used to paying the charges for any upgrades upfront with new casino bookings, so no surprises there.  I'll call in to see what I can do after we get the certificates next month.  I already have 4 cruises for next year booked anyway (3 from casino offers, and 1 I am paying for over Christmas) and was having a little problem trying to figure out how to squeeze in the annual comp cruise, mainly because of limited PTO with work.  I know it probably would not be the same value as if I used the certificate for a new booking, but trading it in for something that can be potentially be applied towards the Christmas cruise may be a good option for me.  Thanks for the response!

I would be ok if I can get $500 in my situation.  I guess I will find out next month when I call in.  Thanks for the feedback.

You can not use trade in value on holiday sailings

Not always true. Holiday sailings are often exempt from promotions but trade in value is different. You cannot book an 8+ night with the comp but you can apply that trade in value to a longer cruise.
