Has anyone had to cancel their upcoming trip?  We have a trip on December 6th and so we are under the "Cruise with Confidence" program.  How easy is it to do?  And if we leave on the 6th, Monday, the 48 hours would be Saturday the 4th; right?  Ugh!!!

I'm sure you're aware that if you cancel (even with CWC) you will receive a future cruise credit, not a cash refund.

If you are interested in getting cash vs an FCC, it is important for you to tell them that you are not able to comply with the current vaccine protocols.  In doing that you will be eligible for a cash refund. If you don't mention vaccine protocols, they will issue each passenger individual FCC's (regardless of who paid for the cruise).

What is the procedure if you test positive for covid?

For example, we are sailing on December 6th (Monday). We have to get our covid test on Saturday.

According to the chart above we would not be able to cancel the trip if we test positive.

Anyone have additional information on this?

This has all of the details.

You and all members of your travelling party are entitled to a full refund if someone in your party tests positive within 14 days up until you board the ship.

*All refund requests must be made within six (6) months of the date your booking is cancelled or the
scheduled embarkation date, whichever is earlier, or you will only be entitled to a Future Cruise Credit
for the amount specified

Ok so I have a question and before I call Royal I thought I would pose it here.  I will provide as short an explanation as I can.

I have a family cruise coming up in April 2022.  When I originally booked it for April 2020 our family of 13 in 4 rooms grew to include extended family and friends making the total 31 people in 13 rooms...and I was transferred to the groups department which was amazing whenever I needed anything.  We used CWC and received FCC for 75% cruise fare and cash refunds for 25% cruise fare plus taxes, gratuities, etc.  We rebooked for April 2021 using the FCC but in December 2020 we L&S to April 2022.  Now, there are several people in our group unable to vaccinate including one of my Son-in-Laws and 2 of my grandchildren (over 12).

So...several months ago Royal was offering to those who cannot comply with their protocols full refunds even if the cruise was booked by FCC.  Is that still an option?  Or is our only alternative to use CWC and rebook to something by end of December 2022 and possibly lose our money entirely?  I believe (and assume) the current health protocols in place through March 2022 will most likely be extended.  I would rather know now, if at all possible, what our choices...if any...will be!

I thank you in advance for any help or advice.  Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.

@PPPJJ-GCVAB can they get a doctors note regarding not being able to be vaccinated? There were a handful of passengers on our last sailing who were able to sail with the note, now they could not go into the Casino & a few other vaccinated only area's but there were plenty of places to go and venues that worked for families that were split, some vaccinated some not. Seriously, okay one morning I FORGOT to put my purple vaccinated wrist band back on after taking it off to shower, I continued on with my day and my movements were never stopped or questioned, I actually realized this when I was in the Solarium Bistro and a couple 3 tables away were having a fit, pointing and sighing and whispering and shooting me dirty looks, I was like um, do I know them? Why is this happening? It was only then that I realized I forgot my band.

I went back and put it on when I was finished but the protocols once on board were not as intrusive as I had imagined they would be. Being from Florida the masking was the worst part since we have not been masking for a long while but honestly we probably spent more time with it off then on. If you really want to go and can get the Dr. note and don't mind staying out of the Casino (hopefully this protocol goes away by April 2022) there really is no reason to cancel. An extra test here and there and you are good to go!

So sorry you have to make this decision, Best to you!

*Our sailing was 21 November 2021 Oasis of the Seas

Yes.  This is still an option. I just cancelled 8 more cruises through 3-31-22 using the vaccination protocols as my reason for cancelling.  Many of these cruises had FCCs and some were L&S.  Not only can you cancel cruises that have FCCs and L&S applied but you can now request cash refunds for your FCCs rather than having the FCCs reissued.

Having said that, I will warn you that there could be cancellation penalties that might apply.  I wish I understood it enough to explain it but I don’t. I just know that in certain cases, I received “cash value” for my FCCs which was less than the “face value”.  I have no idea how any of it is calculated and frankly, I have tired of trying to figure it out.  I just shrugged and said, “whatever”.  In my case I no longer have any FCCs to worry about and that’s good enough for me.

If you decide to do the cash refund vs FCCs being reissued, be sure and specifically insist on cash refunds.  They will try and give the FCCs unless you ask for cash.

Just had to miss a Symphony cruise...  Fiance's kids lost their paternal grandmother and needed to deal with those family obligations... . I did a rebook and it went "ok".... They had a tough time gathering up all my FCC info , each time well short of what the numbers should be. Then their math was way off in a few places but two marathon calls it finally got right... In all it was a little work but not too bad. Similar ship (Oasis class), same itinerary in reverse... Not a lot of cash  involved except for port fees and taxes which had to be refunded back then paid again...
