  1. Going on Oasis of the Seas next July, and I was wondering if the shop on board sells different model ships, not just the one you are on. For example, if you are on board Mariner of the Seas, could you buy a scale model of Liberty of the Seas, or would you have to go on that ship to get that model? I would really like to get a couple of different models on board.
  2. Thinking about doing an Eastern Caribbean cruise, would be flying from Manchester, England. The price of the whole cruise comes out at £3939 for Allure and £4029 for Oasis, so not worried about the price. Are there any differences in service/food quality or any noticeable things that differ these ships from one another?
  3. I’m sure this has most likely been asked before so I apologise in advance. I have purchased the ultimate dining package for my Oasis cruise later this month and wanted to ask about Izumi Hibachi. I’m sure I read somewhere that it wasn’t covered by the package but I wanted to know if the $35 credit would be applied against the cover charge or is it simply a case of the full charge being applied to my seapass account? many thanks in advance!
  4. Sorry to say... I'm back again ready to provide another quality LIVEish! This time around I'll be on the Oasis of the Seas for Halloween. For those that want to get an idea of what I'll be posting look back at my last journey on board Also, keep an eye on Twitter/Periscope for any material not posted here. Twitter/Periscope: @CGTLH
  5. According to the Cruise Planner Shore Excursions section, this is the current sailing update: Day 1: Port Canaveral Day 2: Cruising Day 3: Cozumel, Mexico Day 4: Cruising Day 5: Falmouth, Jamaica Day 6: Labadee, Haiti Day 7: Cruising Day 8: Port Canaveral However, they are needing time to update the excursions because if you try and click on the new destinations, it is still showing up with San Juan in the actual excursions as of 12:25pm.
  6. So I have searched and searched and searched and can't find the layout for my room, 10652, on Oasis of the Seas. I know that I could google the ship name and room number, but I keep getting stock photos. I also know there are a few threads that explain how to determine if your bed is next to the balcony or next to the closet but I get a different answer for each one when I'm "counting" on my own. So any help would be greatly appreciated that lets me know whereabouts my bed will be.
  7. Does anyone know what the "Headliner Show" is on Oasis? I've already gotten tickets for it but I was curious if anyone could let me know. Thanks!
  8. Hi - We are new to RC and have really appreciated all the detailed information this blog provides! We plan to cruise the Oasis of the Seas in March with two, 16 year old girls. I'm looking for a teen version of the Compass to get a feel for their activities. Thank you!
  9. Started a group page for our cruise on the Oasis departing on 11/12/17. Hoping to meet people from all around the world, that will be on this cruise! Please join the page. Page is Royal Caribbean Oasis of The Seas - 11/12/17 - 11/19/17
  10. Intro/Pre-Embarkation Like so many others we originally had planned to set sail on Oasis on September 10, 2017 for a 7 night Eastern Caribbean Itinerary. Well, that is until Irma (Hurricane Irma) crashed our party. After several days of late night tweeting with Royal Caribbean's Meteorologist, James Von Fleet we got final word that our cruise would begin on September 13 and consist of a 4 night sailing to Cozumel. This wasn't our dream cruise but we were happy and grateful none the less that it didn't get cancelled. We opted to sail and receive 50% of our cruise fare in onboard credit and the other 50% for a future cruise credit. This made it a deal hard for us to resist, as it is basically a free cruise. If anyone wants to hear about our pre cruise adventure/trip/Orlando shore excursion/storm chasing, is be happy to share that in a future post. I travel with my husband, Randall and my almost 3 year old, Sarah. Much of my perspective and observations have to do with what cruising looks like with a toddler and Texan who loves the casino and avoids the Windjammer like the plague. We chose this sailing, ship, and date for a few reasons...let me explain: 1. We originally had booked Allure of the Seas for the week of Labor Day. We chose that week because of the free day off (I work so my time off is limited). We also knew we wanted to try an Oasis Class ship since we had loved our Liberty of the Seas Western Caribbean cruise last year. The girl at the Next Cruise office said Allure was her favorite ship so we rolled with it. 2. Oasis became an option only when I saw a group rate with a kids sail free promo on one of the Facebook pages I follow. So after inquiring, the price was significantly lower for Oasis a week later. Plus at the time I thought I'd be going to Puerto Rico and that gave me the chance to see my family. 3. We knew we wanted to go to Labadee And both the Allure and Oasis had Labadee as ports of call (we'll try again next year, Labadee) 4. My husband really wanted an ocien view balcony and we got a great cabin mid ship. 5. The Dreamworks Experience, my daughter loves this so it's a priority for us when booking. In the end I think we made the right choice both for switching to Oasis as our first Oasis Class ship (won't be the last ?) and for choosing to do the 4 night altered cruise. Thanks for reading, tomorrow I'll take y'all on the journey that was Embarkation Day and the run down of the stuff we did on day 2 ? - Cristina Myers
  11. I got this info via my Ship Mate app... The Park N Cruise seemingly made it through Irma just fine, but just at the end of the weather, a tornado hit the facility, causing severe damage to many of the vehicles there, some of which are probably a total loss, and causing a complete shutdown of services.. From their post: Regardless of the fact that our business and facility is a complete loss, our families remained safe throughout the storm...And for that we are thankful beyond measure. I feel awful for this company, and truly hope they can rebuild and get their operation going again. eta: Just found their full message on FB:
  12. Does anyone know if any of the Trolls characters are on board Oasis as part of the Dreamworks Experience?
  13. We will be on Oasis of the Seas on September 10th with an almost 3 -year old. It's not our first time cruising with her (we did Liberty of the Seas last year) and she did great. This year though she's older, potty trained, and we will be driving from San Antonio to Orlando before the cruise. Any tips, tricks, and advice on how to keep her entertained, comfortable, etc would be greatly appreciated. Wish me luck...any advice on how to handle my husband who hates being stuck in a car is also appreciated! LOL Any Oasis class specific tips are also greatly appreciated!
  14. I just saw that the Oasis will be the perfect viewing of the Total Eclipse on August 20th! Sweet...to bad it wasn't happening during the 3rd week of July so that I could enjoy that!
  15. I have been reading on CC where so many have been charged a mini bar fee post cruise when they mini bar stayed empty. Any experience of this happening on the Oasis? I will have them empty the contents (if there is any) when we get in there but I'm not sure if that matters.
  16. So, what's in a name? Each of the classes of ships have names that...well..."go together" for the most part... or do they? Freedom class.... Freedom, Independence, and Liberty... all synonyms for, well...Freedom. Voyager class... Voyager, Navigator, Mariner, Adventure, and Explorer... all synonyms for people who venture out and explore stuff... Then the lines start to blur a little bit... Radiance class... Radiance, Jewel, Brilliance, and Serenade... Radiance/Jewel/Brilliance sound "shimmery", and Serenade is just kind of an odd-ball one that's just tacked on on the end... Vision class... Vision, Enchantment, Grandeur...to me, in my mind I think "big looking" - but then we can't forget Rhapsody, which is a style of a musical piece.. Then the lines blur even more... Oasis class.... Oasis, Allure, Harmony, and now Symphony... Oasis and Allure really don't have much of anything to do with each other... but Harmony and Symphony are both "musical" in nature... so in theory, the next Oasis class ship... might it going to be something else entirely, or some other word from the musical milieu? Quantum Class... I have no idea. Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation.... Anthem is a musical style, Ovation is when you're standing up and applauding at the end of something you're amazed at, and Quantum... is..kind of "sciencey" So... what do you all think about Royal Caribbean's naming strategy... it seems like there maybe, at one time, was a rhyme or reason to it... are they abandoning said rhyme or reason? Should there be one? I like the consistency with naming within the class, certainly helps me remember the names of the ships.
  17. It should be a fun and exciting day at Port Canaveral on Sunday 11/13. the Port Authority is holding a special celebration at Jetty Park from 3pm -6pm. I'll be there. I hope to see some of you crazy blog people there too! :)
  18. Does anyone know if there is a spreadsheet view on Cruise Planner of all the Oasis Entertainment? I saw one for an Allure cruise years ago. I want to see everything so I can more easily make my selections. The display options that I see Cruise Planner don't really work for me. I'm sure all of the planning nerds can appreciate my predicament ;) I may have to create my own Excel document. Thanks! Hunt
  19. Just back from Oasis. I was in a Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony Class D7, #8154. I have taken some photos of the electrical outlets available in this room for your reference. Not all staterooms will have the same but it is a good starting point. This is on top of the vanity. Below the vanity, both 110 and 220 volts A hidden gem beneath the bed by the phone. Hope this helps for everyone. Bob
  20. Just wondering- we have My time dining reservations every night 7:30-9:30. Will I be able to make a reservation for a 9:30 show in My Cruise Planner? Anyone had experience with this? I am worried the system wouldn't allow this since they say to show up 15-30 minutes before a show starts (and we never take 2 hours for dinner).
  21. Has anyone stayed in the Oasis or Allure Family Inside Staterooms. I believe there's only a handful of them and they're on deck 11. I just booked one for my family for 2017 (room 11147) as the Kid's Sail Free + 30% off made it roughly $1,500 cheaper than it normally is. I'm just wondering if this type of room has bunk beds with a wall in between the main room and the bunk beds, or if it's just one giant room with pullman beds that come down. If it is one giant room, how have you been able to make it so that one kid can get some sleep without being woken up by everyone else? I ask because I've got three daughters, all under the age of 5, and I'm wondering how the best way is to get them to sleep, take naps, etc, while my wife and our oldest can hang out in the room and watch tv, etc, without waking everyone up? I've thought about bringing some shower curtains and hanging them up off of those ceilings (I know it sounds tacky, but it's the only thing I can think of and the ceilings seem conducive to being able to hand something from them) and creating a barrier. On our last cruise, with Disney, we had an Oceanview Family Stateroom and it had a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the room, which worked really well for sound and especially for light. Any pictures of the room would be greatly appreciated, as well as explanation of how the room is set up, and any thoughts and suggestions on how to best make it work would be so helpful. Thanks in advance!
  22. Hi guys, The wife and I are going to be cruising on the Oasis this year, leaving October 1st. We're in NJ and have only cruised out of either Bayonne or Manhattan, so this will be our first cruise where we've flown in to port. I'm looking to book the flight/hotel pretty soon, and was wondering what y'all thought of some of the hotels around the area? Is there any partiuclar one that stands out as having good transportation services, or should I just stick with an Uber from airport -> hotel -> port? Looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks, Phill
  23. I have booked Oasis of the Seas in April of 2018 for my wife and I, so pretty far out still. When I booked, only My Time Dining was an option, as the Traditional Dining option was greyed out. There was a box underneath these two options where I could check "My dining preference is unavailable" and if I used the dropdown menu on that one, it only allowed me to select an 8:30 pm dining time. So am I too far out to book a traditional dining time, or do you think they are already sold out? I usually prefer the first seating time, which on my previous cruises was generally around 5:30/6:00 pm. Also, would I be better off to go with My Time Dining so that I can see all the shows, including in the AquaTheatre? I have not been on Oasis class before. but my wife and I usually book the earlier mealtime so that we have the same waiters each time, allowing us to get to know them and they can get to know us, but I also want to make sure I don't miss out on shows. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for all of your help!
  24. Does anyone know if there are any outdoor movie screens on oasis class ships? I know there are 2 at the back near the aqua theatre but didn't see any around any pools. could anyone enlighten me? I do love sitting by the pool while watching some football ( soccer )
  25. Hi all, We will be heading out on the Oasis Saturday :D I am curious about a couple of things and wondered if any of you might offer some answers: 1- What deck and where do we embark? (want to head to GTable for lunch -- looking at deck plans I am not sure.... of course I can ask when we board.....) 2- Laundry packages? Anyone know if we can send out a load mid week? 3- Small Wonders -- I've read about these and copied a list off another blog - some say we can get a list from the front desk - curious if they are still there -- and what is the history behind these? Kinda reminds me of 'hidden Mickeys' at WDW 4 -Someone Periscoped a week or so ago from a deck that had computers for folks to print out their flight boarding passes for no charge.... said there was no sign on the door but Guest Services sent them there -- do you know where this is? deck 7 or maybe 4 is in my head??? 5- Do most folks go to the airport straight from ship? Our flight leaves at 3:30 -- makes for a long day at the airport! The only excursions I found were to Miami or to the Everglades.... neither are options for us. Thanks! Sandy (Scoping @TravelGici)
