I for one could care less what you wear to dinner, any night.  Won't affect my enjoyment in the least.  No where on any RCCL ship is there a 5 star dinning experience.  Wear what you want.

I too could not care less what someone wears to dinner. This isn't the Titanic in 1912 when there were classes and 10 course dinners in a tux. It's modern day cruising to an island.

As a non_American, the way you guys say this phrase really grinds my gears. RCIfan1912 got it correct.

Sorry CruiseGus, the Grammar Police will let you off with a warning this time ?

It's probably about 30 mins a session.  There's checkin and then a video briefing session. Then there's suiting up.  Then there's queuing and waiting for the group ahead to finish.  So you may not be in the same session.  You may be able to finnagle it if there's room and they will get you all in together.  Depends on other no-shows or late arrivals.  It was 8 or 10 in a group if I remember correctly.

Pro tip if you can..have someone not participating take photos for you!  You're not allowed to take your phone with you and you guys are booked too close together to take pics of each other.

Great advice Ashley, thank you. Been enjoying your live blog too!

  3. How long does an iFly session last? As in, from the time that you turn up, do a briefing, get dressed, take your turn, watch everyone else, etc?

Also, through Cruise Planner, I am only able to book two people at a time. I want to book 4 adults, but have had to put my wife and I at 4:40pm and my brother and sister-in-law at 4:50. I wonder if we will be in the same group (whenever I see footage there appears to be groups of a dozen people suited up waiting to take their turn).

For Quantum of the Seas, you do not prebook any of the shows. All the shows in the Royal Theatre are open seating. The only show which requires a booking is Starwater (in Two70) and they will have a box office set up onboard on embarkation day to make bookings.

Thanks for that info BaikG. Whereabouts is the box office located? In Two70* or somewhere else?

We are embarking on a 10 day aboard the ovation. We also have tickets for an opera house tour between 12 and 2, but not sure of exact time. If we get a later time, I suggested we check in, leave our bags, then leave the boat for the tour.  Is this allowed?  More trouble than its worth?  Can always just leave bags with hotel until later.

I forgot to mention, you can drop your bags off at the OPT before you check-in. Do so at say, 11am, then stroll around Circular Quay to the Opera House (about a 15 minute walk non-stop). Done.

If the tour finishes at 2pm, there's no chance of missing the ship.

That's interesting. I thought that you can't book anything on the app until you are onboard?  Plus mine always seems to load late and not always accurate

We've been lucky with Oasis class booking in the planner early, but it seems from others comments that Anthem class comes late and some items not at all?  We have March cruise so also interested.

"I thought that you can't book anything on the app until you are onboard? "

You may well be correct @WannaCruise . In fact, I hope you are. The 'Reserve Now' button was, like I said, greyed out. When the call centre rep told me that the show was booked out, I assumed that I had been too slow to get on the app and make a booking. I had my doubts at the time as to what I was being told, but anyway, I will try again once I am onboard in January.

Good to know, thanks!  So on the app, to book a reservation do I just click on say RipCord for example and when it is available to book there will be a link or button to click on?  Right now when I look at it there isn’t.

So far my bookings have been done via the website, so I can't really advise. However, what I saw when I tried to book a show in the 270* theatre was that there was a "reserve now" button, which happened to be greyed out, with a prompt to call the 1800 number to speak to somebody (which I did, and they informed me it was booked out).

One other thing I noticed was that RipCord was not showing in the app until it was available to book (which I had already done via the website anyway). So if you're seeing RipCord in the app but it's not available for booking yet, then I don't know what this means. Probably nothing.

  8. I had the same question for Quantum a while back. The response seemed to indicate approximately 75-60 days before sail date.

In my case, the North Star has still not appeared. Looks like I will be booking that one onboard.

RipCord and the paid FlowRider sessions appeared within that 75-60 days window.

One word of warning: the shows in 270* did not appear on the website cruise planner but appeared in the App. They booked out within 24 hours and I missed a spot. So sharpen your ninja App skills and be ready to make a booking for any shows you want to see. I am hoping that slots will re-appear either before sailing, or once onboard.

  9. With my cruise 55 days away, I am unable to reserve a place to see Starwater in the 270degrees theatre via the app. It is playing on about 8 different timeslots, however the app prompted me to call RCI direct, to make a booking. After doing so, I was advised that the show is booked out entirely.

This surprises me, given the cruise is still 8 weeks away. Is this common?  I sense I may not have been given accurate information by the lovely call centre worker, but thought I would check on the blog to see how quickly shows tend to book out. Thanks team!
