  1. Good point about the lifeboat capacity. For our March cruise on Anthem the lifeboat capacity was reached by September. So for those high season sailings that definitely is a valid point.
  2. This might the the link... https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/07/30/royal-caribbean-alters-nextcruise-onboard-booking-bonus
  3. I remember asking a RC agent this last year and the answer was yes. Adding is not a problem because you are not cancelling. It's when you cancel something that's when you pick up the penalty.
  4. When I make reservations on the cruise planner for MTD, activities, and shows there is a section right under your own names where is asks me "add guests from another reservation". This is what you click on to add them. In addition, if you know that you are going to be spending most of your time as a large group it is best to have your reservations all linked. Hope this helps.
  5. Would you mind posting pics of the MDR or CK menu? I haven't been able to find many recent ones online.
  6. Definitely enough storage space for 2 people. Those cabins only fit 2 max.
  7. From what I have researched... 1) You get a kettle and coffee maker in the room 2) No walk in closet (I think). Think I remember reading there is large wardrobe type closet instead. There are some good videos on YouTube to give you a better idea.
  8. Most of us don't lol. I didn't realize there was one until months after I joined this site.
  9. Another suggestion if you are unsure is that you book your cruise under the Refundable deposit fare and then when that other person has made up their mind you call or get your TA to change it over the the Non-Refundable deposit for you. That way, you will still end up getting a lower fare and that person can get out without being penalized. This all has to be done prior to final payment though. And if you want to take advantage of the OBC the comes with the the NRD then you have to do it prior to 6 months before sailing.
  10. From what I understand, you would still be cancelling one reservation which means...That 4th person will incur a $100 change fee and the remainder of that person's deposit will be returned as a Future Cruise Credit. So if the deposit is $500 (for one person), you get back $400 as a FCC. That is assuming that the 4th person cancels before final payment. If they cancel after final payment, then your entire deposit is lost. The FCC can be applied to the remainder of your balance if it is issued to you in time. It takes a few weeks for them to issue it. And the FCC must be used within one year of being issued.
  11. Great question...cruising the Panama Canal is on my cruise bucket list for one day, however, I have tend to prefer the newer ships and that has deterred me from looking more closely at RC Panama cruises. I suspect they will continue to use their older, smaller ships because of size right? Are all their newer ships too big to fit there? Unless they build a new ship one day that is on a smaller scale.
  12. Yes...apologies to @Travel Addict Oz for hijacking your first post here...? unfortunate news about the cancellation. At least it was early enough that you haven't booked airfare etc. yet.
  13. That is a perfect example of what a wonderful learning community this site is. That you can not even have gone on a cruise yet and have learned enough from each other to be comfortable enough to have insight about a ship you aren't even sailing on. Look at @JLMoran, another awesome example! Love it! Kudos to @Matt and all the others who contribute to make this all happen. And it doesn't matter if it is your first cruise or not, there is stil much to appreciate and be excited about every time. ?
  14. They stopped providing adhesive tags a while ago. We have the ones from Amazon too and we just print the paper tags, slide them in, and good to go. Like @rjac said though, put it on after you fly and make sure you buy the RC ones off amazon, not some generic cruise luggage tag holder because they may not fit the RC ones.
  15. How do C&A members take advantage of booking one day ahead? Do you have to call them?
  16. Did you come across this website? Looks like it's from the Allure in 2012 but it will at least give you a rough idea. http://www.cruisewithgambee.com/royal-caribbean-menu/
  17. We received our email on the Tuesday before our Saturday sail date. If it's Jeremiah and Checker then you are in luck. They are funny guys. You'll be their "beautiful people" for a week ?
  18. Lol! Just went online now and see that nothing exciting has happened yet. Then headed over here to this site to see if I missed it. Apparently not.
  19. Anyone want to bet that @twangster has a pic of that? ?
  20. Thanks Probably leaning that way too for the time being. I'll probably wait it out, put down final payment and then before March if it drops more, I'll grab it then.
  21. @Matt thoughts on if you think that price is a good deal?
  22. I agree...for the ice show the reserved seating is good. First two rows off to one side. The aqua show the seating was right in the middle, not the front (but imo that is a better view). Warning though...the middle reserved section you will get a bit wet from the aerial person above. Funny thing, the had umbrellas in that reserved section and we did not know why they were there as it was not raining that evening. As soon the the show started we knew exactly what they were for. The main theatre the reserved seating is suppose to be in the middle right behind the sound booth, in the upper deck as @Matt said. However, on our sailing there was no reserved seating at all for Sky class in the main theatre. Strange. Anyway, we only made reservations for the comedy show and then with the rest we just used our card to get in early and then we sat in the reserved section for the aqua and ice show but for the main theatre (Columbus and Grease) we chose our own seats after getting in. The good thing with the Sky class perk is that you can just walk in without reservations and basically sit wherever you want (except in the Star class sections).
  23. I will not say who but a few people I know who are frequent cruisers do this. I actually just had a conversation with them about this last week and was surprised to hear that they have been doing this for years. They basically tip on the first night (wait staff in the MDR and stateroom attendant) and then tip again on the last night. On top of this they tip their automatic gratuities as well. These people that I know, they are genuinely kind people who do this primarily because they know that the crew is often underpaid and are supporting families back at home. However, they have noticed also that the service seems to be better when they do this. But they would do this even if the service isn't better. This is the only case I know of.
