  1. Thanks Doc. Something to look forward to in the near future!
  2. Not sure which excursion you are referring to. But, if it is a Discovery Scuba it is just that. No certification required but the instructors will "hold your hand in very shallow water, like 10', ie, you are discovering scuba. If it is a one/two tank open water dive, then yes certification will be required.
  3. I think jeans and a sweatshirt will be appropriate. I've seen a lot worse! Would not recommend that attire for the MDR as khakis and a sweater would suffice.
  4. If you like rum, be sure to check out the BBD rum store!
  5. I thought it was 39, actually. You are correct in figuring things out ahead of time. I've learned from experience that if you wait until you're on board to book an excursion, it may be filled up by folks who book ahead of time on line. Something to consider. Also, if you book on line, you can cancel while on board 24 hours before the excursion starts.
  6. From what I have read in scuba mags, Puerto Rico has some very decent scuba diving. I have made a couple of dives in St. Maarten and they were ok. Too close to shore, shallow and low visibility. Can't say anything about scuba diving in Labadee, but, if you are adventurous, book and excursion on the Dragon's Breath Zip line for the two of you and go tandem. You can also google "scuba diving" on the islands you are visiting for more info. Here's a link for more excursion options also: http://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/. Yeah, the over 65 thing is a pain in the ass. All has to do with scuba dive operator liability, contracts, etc. Even with a signed waiver from my primary care physician RC said "No". I also would recommend you call RC and talk to someone about booking the scuba excursion you want for your daughter. They may be filled. If that's the case, try the link above. Congrats to your daughter on her Dive Master Certification!
  7. Have you checked it out online on your cruise planner?
  8. How far out from your cruise are you? I think RC opens up the online booking for excursions at 150 days out from the sailing date. Also, if you are over 65 years old they will not let you book a scuba excursion. I ran into that restriction last year for our cruise to Bonaire this past March. Got around that by booking with a local dive operator which worked out just perfect. What ship will you be on and which islands?
  9. Yeah, especially after a couple of the drinks-of -the-day specials. Oh, the staff running the Quest event is kind enough to video the goings on so you, and everyone else on the ship, can view it in your/their cabin the next day.
  10. You will enjoy the Promenade on the Navigator. Nice long walking venue with all the shops on the sides. Nice bars also. You can't go wrong withe the ABC islands either. We were just there on the Serenade. Our first time to Bonaire and it was fantastic. Great snorkeling and scuba diving.
  11. They had a couple of sugar free desserts on the Serenade last month.
  12. Probably not, the comics can get pretty raunchy at times or not very funny at all. Best to check out the Cruise Compass and see what the ratings are.
  13. "plan her clothes" for my wife usually means a butt load of shopping not to mention the accessorizing. Got to be prepared for the Quest game!
  14. So, why don't you just bring your massage therapist along? Definitely a win win situation I would think.
  15. I think, the luggage valet program and RC transfer might be the way to go. Maybe someone (Matt?) who is very experienced with these programs can chime in.
  16. Never had that happen to me either. Interesting comment though.
  17. Hey Matt....do you carry a lot of $5 & $10 dollar bills when you go to Labadee? ;)
  18. When you set up your RC account on line they want to know the birth dates of everyone. So, when you go into the excursions on the cruise planner and select the cabana at Coco Cay and select the folks in your party anyone with a birthday that won't make the 4 years old at the time of your excursion will not be added, I ran into this problem this year trying to go on a scuba excursion. The max age is 65 and I'm over that, so they very nicely declined me. However, having never been to Coco Cay, I do not know if your reserve the cabanas on line or once you're on the ground with the local fellows. If that is the case, the local fellows, I would be willing to bet they could care less about the age thing...especially if an extra $5 or $10 is offered. ;)
  19. Hey Carney, I know you like your Hey Carney, I know you like your curry also. We were on the Serenade a few weeks ago and had dinner in the Windjammer. They had chicken curry and also goat curry as well as many other great looking selections. I have never had curry before so I took the plunge. The chicken was ok but the goat was incredible. Great flavor, great spice with just a hint of heat on the end. I didn't finish the chicken and went back a coupe of times for the goat. I'll be looking for the curry dishes next year on the Allure. Thanks for the tip!!
  20. We were on the Allure last year for two weeks, back to back, and our cabin was on deck 14 midship. We weren't disturbed at all during the night by any deck 15 noise. A couple of times we did hear some deck chairs being dragged around in the morning while we were having our room service coffee on our deck. That was the early birds "reserving" their deck chairs. Our cabin was 14650 if that helps.
