  1. Giving this thread a bump for a couple questions. Is the app chat feature only available for purchase once on board? I have not seen anywhere in the cruise planner where it can be purchased ahead of time. Does the chat feature need to be purchased daily on board or is it purchased for the duration of the cruise? (i.e. $13.93pp for a 7-night cruise) We are on Odyssey in 4 weeks and think that with a ship that size, we may need a way to find each other now and then.
  2. Is the date on the box December? Or is the date December with the 3-month extension? Both Optum and Emed had the tests listed as expiring in early February just a few weeks ago. Emed is currently sending tests with a November 2022 expiration date and Optum still has tests that expire in early February according to the "Test Expiration" thread in the People Connect section.
  3. In 2018, We received a refund for two missed ports in the form of onboard credit (weather & rough waters). Whatever onboard credit we had remaining after the cruise was refunded to the credit card we had on file. FYI: We also received port fee refunds for the missed ports.
  4. Ok, cool. So what’s the warning level for the following? Airports Airplanes Sporting events Concert venues Movie theaters Shopping malls Grocery stores Large chain retail stores Amusement parks Public transportation Restaurants Bars Resorts
  5. FYI: I received no shipping information from Emed for our tests and they showed up on our doorstep 3 days after ordering. (2 days, 23 hours, 53 minutes to be precise! )
  6. Yours expire that soon @SpeedNoodles? I ordered a week later on Emed and ours have 11/2022 expiration dates on the box 1. Purchased from: Emed 2. Order date: Monday, December 20th (11:03am) 3. Approval date: Monday, December 20th (11:17am) 4. Shipped date: No Shipping Notice Given. Must have been Wednesday, December 22. (Was informed on Monday 12/20, 8:54pm that "Due to FedEx’s limited capacity as a result of the holiday shipping surge, your test kits may be delayed by up to 4 days") 5. Received date: Thursday, December 23 6. Expiration date: November 6, 2022 As long as neither of us has to use a second test, we'll have tests for our August Alaskan cruise. (Fingers crossed that the need for testing might be over by then)
  7. Does anyone know what it is that made this Hospital Ship chasing lawyer to be so against the cruise industry? Did he have a stateroom attendant that didn't make him enough towel animals?
  8. One thing I forgot to add: I did NOT receive any tracking info. They just simply showed up this morning. Luckily, I'm working from home this week and saw an unexpected FedEx van pull into my driveway. It's in the 20s here temp-wise and certainly didn't want the tests to possibly get damaged (the testing fluid, in particular) by the cold and be rendered useless.
  9. UPDATE: I just received my 6 pack of tests from eMed this morning (Thursday 12/23) at about 11:00. I ordered them on Monday, 12/20 at 11:03 (according to the time stamp on the order email) So it was almost exactly 72 hours from the time I ordered to receiving the tests. (Your own results may vary) I was also glad to see that the tests I received have an expiration date of 11-06-2022. This means I should not have to purchase any additional tests for our Alaskan cruise in August. I was disappointed that no shipping notification was sent out. Living in a colder climate, I didn't want to risk the tests getting damaged by the cold weather and rendering them useless. Luckily, I am working from home this week and saw an unexpected FedEx van stopping by.
  10. I started that post. eMed simply let me know a few hours after I ordered that they are experiencing shipping delays of up to 4 days due to capacity issues at FedEx because of the holidays. Since the usual ship time for the tests is one day/overnight, I just wanted to make anyone that needs tests very soon should take this into consideration. FWIW: I just received my 6-pack of tests from eMed this morning (Thursday, December 23, 11:00am). I ordered the tests on Monday (December 20, 11:03am) So it took about 72 hours exactly to receive them. Your results may vary. P.S. With the production of new tests (at one time these had been all but discontinued) the current tests going out expire in November of 2022 based on what I've and other RCB members have recently received.
  11. I wish I could help more, but I don't know what's up with that.
  12. If you look at the entry box, you'll notice that only the top name line requires an entry. (Denoted by a red asterisk). My name is the only name I listed for the 6-pack and ordering was not a problem. See below. You'll receive a notification that your order requires a prescription and must be reviewed by the medical staff at eMed. The prescription was approved in less that 15 minutes. (notification via email)
  13. I just happened to wake up at 12:38am the day check-in was scheduled to open up. (December 15) I got up, grabbed the earliest available arrival time (12:00-12:30) and completed the rest of our check-in when I got up in the morning. The one downside? The excitement of finally being checked in for a cruise made it tough to get back to sleep!
  14. Yes. These are the tests that are proctored online through a video call. ICYDK, It has been advised that you have at least two tests per traveler in case there is a problem with the test itself or you encounter a problem while testing (improper application, dropping swab on the floor, etc.).
  15. WOW! Almost a full year. I ordered a six pack yesterday. If we don't have any defective kits or need to retest, this means we'll have kits leftover for our August cruise! Last I had seen, the website stated that "currently available kits" expire in early February, which was fine since we'll need to test on January 27th or 28th.
  16. I wouldn't mind if this became permanent. I enjoy going in to the casino periodically, but the cigarette odor that clings to me as I leave certainly makes me limit my time there. I really don't think a dip in casino revenue would be noticeable since I regularly observe that many smokers are only there to smoke. They sit in the slot machine stools with their backs to the machines with no intention of gambling. If anything, non-smokers (the majority of passengers) may spend more time (and $) there. From my experience, this initial uproar will mostly likely die down soon. Here in Michigan, the indoor smoking ban several years ago came with predictions of ruining the business of bars, casinos, bowling alleys, etc. It didn't.
  17. Worst cruise ever? I'm sure the former passengers of the Costa Concordia and the Achille Lauro would disagree, but, ok.
  18. Home test kits from eMed are currently experiencing shipping delays due to the holidays and limited capacities with FedEx. (Could increased demand also be a factor?) So, you may want to keep this in mind if you need test kits soon.
  19. Topper's Rhum is definitely worth checking out. We've been there twice, but we've never booked it through RC. They have somewhere around 12-15 varieties for sale at any given time. The tour includes a handful of tastings from their collection of experimental flavors not yet available for sale. (There's somewhere around 50 experimental flavors!) The times we've been there (January 2019 & 2020) the distillery was in a hole in the wall warehouse, but they have recently moved to a new location at Cole Bay that combines both the distillery and Topper's Restaurant. (The previous restaurant was a small, bar like place and they serve VERY GOOD food!)
  20. Traveling back in time to 2013 would be a pretty special occasion!
  21. Can anyone out there give a bit of guidance on getting the correct quote through Allianz? What should I enter for the "Country of Destination"? Is it still the US (Florida) because our flights are domestic and the cruise is a closed loop from the USA?
