  1. Have been on several cruises lately where their has been more than 3 or more guests that are on the ships for several months at a time. We are looking to do the B2B top and bottom out of Sydney in 2021 for 30 days. Not sure what our limit is. I know I can do it. Not sure about the wife. She would miss the grand kids.
  2. We tip at he beginning and at the end. It has benefited us well over the years. The robes are wonderful. The wife used to pack a lightweight robe years ago. Not any more.
  3. Top shelf liquors and a fine bottle of wine are worth the overage.
  4. 57 Days. But who`s counting. Like birthdays ( mine is today ) it`s only a number. Cruises never come soon enough.
  5. Have been on all classes of ships. We like them all for various reasons. We and most crew members prefer the smaller classes of ships. Better service and much better food. Unless you are in a suite and eat in Coastal Kitchen or do lots of specialty dinners. And you are able to get into a lot more ports that the big ones can`t. Like Panama Canal and Alaska and so on.
  6. Never catch a flight before noon. If you have to pay to change the flight it might be worth it. Sure beats missing the flight at 10 a.m. Also you have to consider the weather and docking on time and getting cleared by customs. We have run into all of those various issues over the years. Good Luck. Hopefully you have a travel agent. If not get one. Hopefully the cruise is not any time soon. Travel agents can work miracles at times.
  7. Sort of. And NO. You are actually better off having someone take your picture with your phone or camera. We do it all the time. Almost everybody is glad to take your picture. And we extend the courtesy to them as well. We do purchase from the ship as well. Have gotten some beautiful pictures over the years. Visit all the photographers that you can weather it be a formal night or not. Some of the photo packages are outrageous. sometimes the photos don`t turn out.
  8. On the ship people are pretty honest. Off the ship thieves know all the hiding places. We move our stuff to the waters edge area so as to be able to keep an eye on it. Otherwise we get a locker. We grew up in Chicago and living in Tennessee the last 11 years. People don`t believe we are from Tennessee because we don`t talk funny. Glad were moving to Florida this fall. Enjoy the cruise. We are sure you will be hooked. Don`t forget to visit the future cruise desk. Deposits are less and you can always cancel.
  9. Uniworld is the best for river cruises. They are beautiful and so relaxing. Like ocean cruises you have to do a lot of research. It pays off tho. And a travel agent for is the way to go. We book or future cruises on board and then transfer them to our T.A. and get extra comps.
  10. We wear sandals everywhere. In fact I have worn them on more than 1 formal night. Khakis polo and sandals. I have been doing some serious thinking about wearing a tuxedo t shirt on formal night on our cruise in Sept.
  11. Get to the pier by 10:30 a.m. Also we are not a fan of the key as it is costly for very few perks. Enjoy your cruise and welcome to the blog.
  12. I find that somewhat hard to believe being only 9 months out. I would try checking hotels on your own. We book our own hotels and airlines ,etc.. Our T.A just does our cruises. We just re booked our flights for out Sept. cruise out of Bayonne.
  13. Should we take the Hotel shuttle or other modes of travel to the cruise terminal? Hotel wants $ 20 P.P.
  14. Leaving Sept. 12 on Anthem and unable to book entertainment. Says try on board. Never got any notice to book entertainment, etc. Have been trying the last 6 weeks. Any Ideas? Thank you
  15. Got a royal Up offer last week as well. Already in a balcony and to go to a suite would be nice but you don`t get the double points so it is not worth it. And to bid $ 400-800 dollars per person is a lot more than we will spend for specialty dinners and drinks ,etc. Save your money and like others have stated you may get a room in a terrible location. NOT worth the headache and other associated factors.
  16. A good travel agent can work wonders.
  17. For that reason there are times when we are not Loyal To Royal. Having laundry facilities on a long cruise is so worth having so as not to have clothes shrunk.
  18. On board everything has a huge markup. Cosmetics, jewelry, liquor, electronics. You name it.
  19. Five weeks Federal Holidays. 9 assorted days. And if you are on vacation the week of a holiday you get an extra vacation day. After I was there 20 years I would take a least 4 weeks vacation during holidays so that was another 4 more days off. I would also work the Sunday before my vacation and if you work Sunday you get the following Friday off. And I would be off on Monday after my vacations and then had to work the following Saturday. That scenario gave so many more days off it was a great bonus.
  20. No question is a dumb question. Never be afraid to ask questions. Like other travel sites the whiners are the reviews that I don`t believe for one minute. This site will get you a lot of answers and a lot of ideas. If someone were to say otherwise I would say to them take a hike and have a nice life. If you can`t find an answer here I would be very surprised. Enjoy your cruise. Stop by the next cruise desk and see what they have. Deposits are less than when you call or book online. One cruise leads to another. And another.
  21. We are moving back to Florida in the fall. We can`t wait. Not as much flying now that a lot of the ports can be driven to. Thank goodness that there are no time keepers checking your boarding times. They can punish me with a time out at the bar of their choosing.
  22. We actually LOVE Cozumel. Go shopping via a taxi. Get an authentic Mexican meal in town. So much better than food in the states. And you won`t get sick. And then at the pier is Senor Frogs where you can unwind. It is a fun place and if you drink a little too much just saunter up the pier as that is where the ship is docked. No massive crowds. Personally you are paying over $200 for the key for a fancy breakfast. If you arrive at the pier between 10 and 10:30 there are very short to no lines. And you are on board in no time. And if you do carry off of your luggage on disembarkation you walk right off of the ship at the same time as suite and key holders. No key needed for those 2 tasks and money well saved.
  23. They serve REAL FAKE MAPLE SYRUP. Otherwise the drink package prices would be much higher. Just think before you know it most items in the Windjammer will be a la carte . Was told no grape due to stains are hard to remove.
