I am reading a lot of complaints about them being very hard and uncomfortable.  Are they really that bad?

It all depends, do you like soft or hard mattress?

The RC mattresses are very hard, if you're not used to it it could be uncomfortable for you. Some people reports having a pad or something similar put on by their cabin attendant, others have bought one and brought it on board.

Question, does Royal Caribbean open up additional spots for shore excursions on board. I ask because some of the excursions I want to do for my cruise only have one spot available.

What is the best thing to do? Book one spot for me and hope the best for my spouse?! Please help!

Keep checking the Cruise Planner, if there is no luck you should try talking with the shore excursion manager on boarding day, there's nothing to lose.

Me? Racist? Antes de llamar a alguien racista, primero debe averiguar de dónde son. Todo esto es en broma. Además, para que sepas, soy español y puertorriqueño. (For my RC Blog friends - English translation: Before calling anyone racist, you should first find out where they are from. All of this is all in jest. In addition, so that you know, I'm Spaniard and Puerto Rican.) Just had to clear the air. Such a smell of pure "wrong". Mimosa's anyone? ???????

I'll accept the mimosa and will put this discussion to rest....

Racist?  How?  Being Guatamalin or Jamaican IS NOT A RACE!!!  It's a Nationality and, perhaps, a Culture, but it is NOT a race...... That term is thrown around Waaay too often these days.

Ok, by your logic, Hoy would you call saying that someone is worst at any job (even without a proof) only for being born on another country different from yours?

Wow bands aren't cheap.  Even in bulk they add up when you consider many of them will never be used again or not for a long time and if they were free there would be tens of thousands every week going into landfill .  The future is an app.  All major hotel chains are going with apps.

I didn't mean the were cheap. They surely look like they're made from cheap material and if you compare them with a magic band they look even worse.

  6. Leaving tomorrow to Cancún, would let you know how it went. ?If anyone is planning a trip to Cancun you shouldn't be worried about this.

This news as bad as they sound doesn't affect tourist at all. This events tend to happen in other areas very distant from the Hotel and touristic Zone of Cancún.

Clearly the note states: "None of the killings occurred in the city’s beach-side hotel zone", "...in remote areas of Cancun eight bodies were discovered Tuesday."

    Extending some thoughts...

One of the biggest things that could be done to help along the adoption of bands would be the roaming bar staff. Give them a handheld point of sales system (tablet or "phone" size). Have the ability to enter the order and read a band or card at the time of ordering. Other thought could be having the signature either captured on device or old school with paper receipts.

The challenge is the willingness to invest in the hardware and competence to setup the software.

I agree, but they also should improve the quality of the WOW bands, they look cheap. Compared to any standard Disney Magic Bands they look like trash (and the Magic Bands are free if you're staying at a WDW hotel).

The new straw policy will go into effect by the end of this year, so it's not quite straw-free fleet wide quite yet.

As a fan of frozen cocktails, I will be interested to see how that goes once we go sans-straw.

I agree, I wonder how someone could drink a frozen cocktail without a straw...

Beautiful at St John's! I just did the St John all inclusive excursion through Royal and felt it was a bit of a waste. A lot of traveling for about an hour and a half on the beach. In no way would I discourage anyone from going to St John's  - just if you do an excursion make sure you read the fine print. We did not and found later we somehow missed the part where they told us only a 1.5 hours on the beach  - and weren't thrilled.

I agree, I believe is better if you take the ferry and explore without an excursion.

Here is one of the beaches you could visit. I took this pic on my last trip to St John's. I was going to book the tour you took but it was sold out so I only book the ferry round trip.

  10. If you're interested in Mayan Ruins I would recommend going to Chichén Itzá, its a long trip (and you can't climb the ruins) but not for nothing is one of the new 7 wonders of the world.

If you want a shorter trip you should definitely have to go to Tulum. They're very close to Cozumel, right next to the ocean. Beautiful site.

Has anyone ever done the "Discover Atlantis Tour" from Resorts for a Day?  Any feedback on it?  It's $49pp.  Worth it?

It's a self-guided tour, so you would have to explore and discover by yourself. It only includes entrance to the casino, shops, restaurants, aquarium and lagoon. Nothing else.

Doesn't include pools, waterpark, transport, etc.
