  1. Agree, our flight arrival time is what generally determines our arrival time at the dock.
  2. Was on the Empress about 18 months ago. No Diamond Lounge, but every night the Viking Crown Lounge had open bar for Diamond + and Pinnacle during happy hours. I know this has been discontinued. Twangster is onboard now, and will check in I'm sure. I'll be boarding Saturday for a couple weeks.
  3. I know people who have requested a fan and were told they were all out.
  4. Buy one of these for every trip. Give it to the cabin steward after the trip. WallyWorld for $14.
  5. Let's see..............12 days, fairly port intensive, several countries, etc. Sounds great to me. I would not fly that far for less, but I am retired. Those tend to be some of the more expensive sailings though if that makes a difference.
  6. Have had a corner aft on deck 7 on Navigator. They are not the same on other decks. The stateroom is not any different, the balcony is a larger. This is cabin 7388. One pic is looking outboard, the other is looking inboard towards the other cabins. Have read that the folks on deck 6 have a much obstructed view as they have a football field of steel deck right out in front of their balcony. Not sure it would bother me though.
  7. Have had an aft balcony on Indy for a Transatlantic 14 days and never noticed any engine noise.
  8. Depends who is in port that day. Terminal 18 is built for the LARGE RCI ships. The other often used RCI terminal is 29. If no large ships are in port that day, you could be at either one. Just tell the driver which ship you want, he should know.
  9. Generally, the lower the number the more centrally located the cabin is(in relation to the ships center), most think there is less movement and less walking to elevators and stairs........ Then there is the letter designation. D class cabin is smaller than a B class cabin. Roughly 160 sq. ft. to 180 sq. ft. These are generalizations and there are other twists thrown in such as having a 3rd or 4th bed...or not.
  10. Great for hanging a multi shelf organizer.
  11. I think in either case you are responsible for your luggage. The RCI transfers I have seen are waiting as you leave baggage claim area. In most places, you can get a porter with a hand truck to carry the luggage.
  12. Arctic Circle/ Northern Norway.
  13. Could be the high charges placed on overweight bags by airlines.
  14. Last year we stayed at the Hotel Alla. Very near St. Marks and just off the Grand Canal. Would definitely recommend it. Very nice with a great breakfast buffet included. This time the ship starts the cruise with an overnight in Venice, so we won't be in a hotel.
  15. mom2mybugs, we are flying to Venice and boarding the Pacific Princess for a 12 night Greece , Croatia ,Sicily and Rome sailing. Then staying on for the following 17 night Med/T-A to Fort Lauderdale. Oh, next time you weigh your bags with your scale, check them against what the check in counter says they weigh.
  16. We pack as much as we can fit and still be under limits. I have a digital fish scale here and found it to be accurate within 1 pound. I tell DW to pack as much as she wants as long as the bags come in under weight. She has become a pro at it. I just hate extra baggage fees. The longest we have been yet is 23 days. We are doing a 29 day in November though.
  17. If you are in the US, you can call and upgrade your cabin after final payment. The caveat is you won't get any money back. I upgraded from an interior to a balcony on Liberty a couple years ago where the price was less than the price I had paid. The upgrade was made, but no refund. This was after final payment. 2 days ago we upped from an interior to an ocean view on Empress and paid the $30 difference, again after final payment. Attempting to do another now if the right cabin is available. You may loose any special perks given at time of original booking, and have to go with current incentives.
  18. If you are within 60 days of booking the cruise, you can transfer a booking.
  19. I just use the Euro outlet in the cabin for my USB charging. Leave the US outlets for other things. Cheap($5 to $10) and work well.
  20. I agree with you about the fact that this has been coming for well over a month. RCI as well as others have known this and continued to book sailings and take peoples non refundable deposits. Now RCI can look surprised and just switch an itinerary. I hope the folks who want to opt out are given their money back in full.
  21. Can try from home after return(May 19). Internet too slow to do on sailing. Just pulling into Belgium now just after 9AM this morning.
  22. Am on the Serenade now in Europe. Baltic coming in a couple days. Both "formal" nights so far were fine with button up shirt and nice slacks. Saw several with pull over collars and slacks without issue.
  23. Replace Enchantment with Rhapsody and flip your list upside down for me......
  24. I can not see any reason NOT to use the next cruise option. On the longer sailings(like T/A, etc.) I get $250 obc and then transfer to my agent for their perks(grats, obc, etc.). I feel like I am leaving money on the table otherwise. Prior to the cruise we have the next booking picked out(price, cabin, etc.) and spend a grand total of about 15 minutes at the next cruise desk. I figure 15 minutes is worth $250........maybe if I was rich, I might skip it.
  25. 6 at the moment.......subject to change
