  1. Okay, so I'm definitely down with gaining the favor of the bartender/bartendress. If I find a good spot that will be my go-to for the duration, what exactly would you recommend to "over-tip"? If I had Matt's money, I'd just toss the guy/gal a $100 and be on with it, but I'm the "poor relations" of the group.
  2. I think Mike set us all up for that one...
  3. Am I the only person who thinks it's phenomenal that JL has well over 300 posts here and has never even cruised? I bow to you, sir!
  4. I hadn't heard of this before! Do you know if they do it on Oasis??? d
  5. Absolutely not!! IMO, the MDR food is fantastic, and if I get something I don't care for, I can just get something to replace it. Laurie - leave your alter ego at home and just relax. As soon as I step onboard, I can literally feel the stress leave my body and mind. You and your family will have a great time!
  6. Just deposited for Nachi Cocom in January. Will there be taxis available there in the afternoon for a ride back to town?
  7. I heard from a very reliable source that Grandeur is going to a "clothing optional" pool area.
  8. Last year I caved in to the "huge markdown sale" on watches on the Promenade. I bought a beautiful Invicta Diver's watch for what ended up being $125. I am not a watch guy, and couldn't access the internet to research, so I took the deal on faith that RC wouldn't screw anyone, right? Got home and found it a good bit cheaper everywhere I looked, even the Invicta site. However, i love this watch and am super happy that I got it. Just be price-wary if you buy on the 'nade.
  9. I have a bottle of Guavaberry from Ste. Maartin, but not really sure how to make any drinks with it. It's pretty sweet.
  10. A taxi to Orient Beach isn't very long, about 25 minutes or so. IIRC, it was about $8/pp for us in '15. Last year, we took a local tour, which isn't what you're looking for. The beach at the boardwalk in Phillipsburg could hardly be more convenient, and they're nice, too. You're also right there where the shops and restaurants are, so there's that. Good call on not going to the nude beach; my retinas are still smoking.
  11. Reggae, reggae, reggae!!!!!!! Obviously, Marley is tops, but I love pretty much all Raggae. Also, "Cruisin'" by Smokey Robinson
  12. Pretty sure you pay for the Ice Cream place across from the Promenade Cafe.
  13. Wow. Just like that? I'm not familiar with these ships; is it an upgrade for you? Maybe Mariner has a better beer selection!
  14. I can't answer your question, but I sure am hungry now.
  15. OH. My. Gosh. I would literally explode if RC ported a ship here. I'm 10 minutes from the terminal; I wonder how hard it would be to castaway.... Then again, the thought of being able to visit Paducah is intriguing. Of course, I'd have to wear my Tar Heel gear!!!
  16. But there ain't no port in San Antonio.... sorry
  17. No idea. I sure thought I was able to last year. The only difference is that I'm using a TA this time, but she is the one who said I had to be fully paid before I could order.
  18. I'm quite satisfied with the bottom line on our Jan Oasis cruise (although I don't remember having to have paid in full before I could book packages and/or excursions before). That said, I would be ecstatic if we were offered to upgrade to a JS (which I assume is the lowest of the suites)!!
  19. Sounds lovely. As for me, I get a big ol' paddle and a personal escort way down below. Great upper body workout, though.
  20. Thank you, Doc. Yes, that is what I meant.
  21. That sounds fantastic! I wonder if, after the up-charge is paid, you can try more than one.
  22. Remind me to read these posts slooooowly before I process what I think I've just read....
  23. Cowboy - I finally got accepted to that FB page; thanks for the link. Man, that's a busy page!!!
