I'm pretty sure it's $7.95 for the cruise, but I'll let someone who has actually used it confirm.

I've sent you a private message (look for the notification in the upper right of your screen while logged into the site).  Respond there and we'll get you squared away as quickly as possible.

    Thanks,

I've flown with alot of weird things (especially for work - goiing to trade shows and such) and have never had an issue with power strips or anything like that.  I'm confident you'll be in good shape.

No, VOOM is not required to text via the Royal IQ app.  That in mind, if you're looking at purchasing Voom, know that you can use any number of messaging apps without paying the additional $7.95 for messaging in the Royal IQ app.

For ways to stay in touch on your cruise check the below article and let us know if you have any questions.

Seen this posted near the bottom of the Royal website, it was a link to a PDF file but the most I can muster is a screen shot.

I just found it interesting and thought you might too.

Glasses poured by bar staff are covered (up to $12) by the package.  We did this on Navi.

If that's the use case I think you'll be quite happy with the level of service on any Royal Caribbean ship.  Many of the folks on the boards enjoy streaming video on Periscope or FB Live, which takes far more bandwidth and less latecy.  As such, they (well, we) tend to be a bit more critical of the speeds and stability in that way.

As bcarney mentioned, you can always speak with someone on board and cancel if it isn't doing what you need it to, but I suspect you'll be just fine.

Report back and let us know after your cruise!

I observed the same thing.  Interesting that they scan *out* multiple towels yet usually only scan *in* one in my experience.

Further, while I've not taken towels, I all but hid two in my stateroom on Navi to see if I might get any charges after the cruise, and of course, nothing.  Granted, in theory stateroom attendants could reconcile this, but I'm skeptical.

Breakfast, lunch (on days when offered/sea days generally), and dinner are always complimentary in the main dining room on all Royal Caribbean ships (and all cruise lines, generally speaking).

The Sunday Brunch (in the main dining room), unless something has changed, is only offered on sea days, as generally the MDR is closed for lunch on days the ship is in port (I wish they'd update this marketing copy unless something has changed).

We'll be on a Cuba sailing on Empress May 20th, and are very much looking forward to a smaller ship and a destination to which we've not sailed.

I've only ever used the Surf & Stream - and for a while, that's all there was.  It really comes down to which ship you're on, which is unfortunate.  You'll find, from what I understand, that Voom on Majesty works quite well.

I've heard great things about Voom and/or had positive experience on: all Oasis class ships, all Quantum class ships, Freedom of the Seas, Empress of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas.  Indy was iffy - didn't fit squarely in the 'naughty' or 'nice' column.

Perhaps we'll start collecting speed tests like Cruise Compasses...

I really don't think you'll find it making a difference - not one that is predictable at least.  I'd aim for the one in October just because as you get to the edge of the season there is a chance that the ports of call may be a little less crowded, airfare may be a bit cheaper, etc.

I actually don't know the name for these platforms, but they're used for primarily for two reasons:

    1) For officers to get a good view of any obstructions or hazards while navigating in port
    2) To offer a better perspective from which officers can guide and instruct dock workers and shipboard crew on the securing of mooring lines

It may be a larger difference than what you see on the website if you're looking at a per person rate.  That would bring you to $120, I'd suspect a bit more with tax, but that's still a jump.  This is where it's good to have a travel agent to work things out for you.

Make sure you're comparing apples to apples - not all OV categories are the same, perhaps you're looking at different categories of that type, or even a guarantee vs an assigned room?

Views of the ocean.  This is my biggest gripe with RCI builds - ships built since Voyager OTS focus inward, not outward.
