The question I    have is, would anyone participating in this blog NOT cruise if RCCL dropped from the CDC voluntary program?  Would anyone actually cancel their cruise or NOT book one because of dropping the protocols of the CDC program?

I don't know if I would cancel my cruise, but I feel better knowing we all have to get tested before boarding.

Unbelievable how the MyVegas points have devalued. 3-5 night cruises we're going for 600,000 points. Now going for 2.5 million. Crazy.

Also, I won a cruise and was able to sail solo and only pay taxes/fees for myself. That was a nice surprise.

In the Android app, I see three night cruises for one million, four nights for two million, and five nights for two point five million.

I’ve been letting the app run during breakfast for about a month. So far I’ve accumulated 150,000 loyalty points. So if the reward prices don’t change, I can have a free five night cruise in less than a year and a half with minimal effort on my part. Seems like quite a deal.

It’s too bad none of the reward cruises leave from Galveston.

  3. I was hoping the big sale would make the Deluxe Beverage Package a good deal for me, but for my cruise, it went from $80 per person per day to $75. That's a $50 savings for two people for five days, but I'm still not going to drink enough booze on the boat to make it a better deal than paying for each alcoholic drink.

The Refreshment Package, on the other hand, dropped from $177 to $136. I can definitely drink $27 worth of cappuccinos and milkshakes each day.

The poker tournaments are rough...The blinds go up way too fast and you have to play hands that you normally would toss.  I always seem to get the one guy who goes all in every hand and when he loses...He rebuys in and continues to go all in.  Just not enjoyable to me but I do like the late night cash games.

If that guy bets on bad hands, can't you just take his money when you have good hands?

  5. I was able to have this reward applied to my cruise! Thanks everyone. I'm adding a note in case anyone else is confused by the language they use in the future.

    When the MyVEGAS app says:

"Reward must be used within 90 days of purchase."

The word "purchase" refers to the act of converting loyalty points (in the app) into a reward.

You can accumulate loyalty points in the app just by letting slot machines spin (lowest bet in Lucky Pinata and Rapid Gold had a very even payout for me). There's a maximum time to accumulate loyalty points each day.

Once you reach 50,000 loyalty points (it took me less than a week), you convert them to a $100 on-board credit reward. The app asks for your email address and name. You get an email with 5 questions about contact and cruise info. You send the answers to clubroyale@rccl.com. It looks like a real person reviews them and applies the credit to your cruise. The credit shows up in the header at the top of the cruise planner web page.

It's a pretty easy way to get a $100 discount.

If you’re only drinking beer then you’re probably right, but don’t forget about things like premium coffee beverages, freshly squeezed juice, and bottled water. This last cruise we probably went through 40-50 bottles of water - all included with our package.

I thought of that, but the Refreshment Package includes all of the non-alcoholic stuff, and is only $30/day (with the 10% discount). So that leaves $50 for alcoholic drinks on top of all the shakes and whatnot. That still means I have to drink over a six pack of beer each day to make the Deluxe a good deal. And if I drink that much beer I won't want much of the other drinks.

So I bought the Refreshment Package and decided to find out once and for all how much chocolate shake I can really consume.

ETA: The other downside to the Deluxe package is the guy I'm rooming with doesn't want it, and they make you buy it for everyone in the cabin for some reason. I read that you can ask them to make an exception, but it sounds like a thing.

  7. I was looking forward to the Deluxe Beverage Package, until I saw the price. Even with a 20% discount, it's still $80 per day on my trip. I've read that imported beers are $8 each, so I'd have to drink 11 beers every day for that to make sense, and that just doesn't seem wise.

Yes, a travel agent equals TA, I wasn't sure if you booked yourself. So, disregard that.

When you get an email with your redemption code there will be a number listed. That will be the number you call to get the OBC applied. You will need your reservation number for the cruise to give to the representative when you call.

    Thanks!

So I can go ahead and redeem the reward in the MyVEGAS app now? Even though my cruise isn't for five months? That's the part I'm confused about.

You have to apply the reward in 90 days, but it can't be used on a cruise that was booked more than 30 days ago. The last criteria is that the cruise must be within a 12month time frame. So if you booked June 3rd, got the rewards on the 15th, and sails on Nov 13th; you can either forward to your TA to apply or call the number. They will apply it to the reservation and it will show up in the cruise planner as OBC.

I assume TA is a travel agent? I don't have one of those.

    What number would I call?

You can redeem the award once you have a reservation number and you are less than 90 days from your cruise I believe.  Once you purchase it.  You will get an email that you must send full name and reservation number.  Then in a few days they will let you know it has been added to your account.  Then you should be able to log into the cruise planner and see your $100 reward for pre-purchase items or to use on board the ship.

Sorry, my brain is very literal and I'm not following some of the references.

"Once you purchase it." - what does "it" refer to in that sentence? The cruise? The reward? Something else?

I've already purchased the cruise, but have not received an email saying I must send my name and reservation number. They already know that info.

  11. I searched this blog and saw an earlier discussion about how to redeem rewards from the MyVEGAS Slots mobile app, but I couldn't understand the details.

My question: When can I redeem an reward from the app? I have enough Loyalty Points to get $100 in Onboard Credit. The terms say:

Reward must be used within 90 days of purchase.

I purchased a cruise this week (June), but it doesn't sail until November.

Does "used" mean used on the ship? Or do they mean I have to turn loyalty points into the reward within 90 days of the cruise purchase?

If I have to use them on the ship within 90 days of the cruise purchase, I can't do that, since I purchased the cruise more than 90 days before the cruise.
