BigMac3001 reacted to Matt in What can a nearly 12 year old do?
Trying to illustrate how delving into age stereotypes is neither accurate nor fair, based on the previous post.

What can a senior citizen do?
Well, let's see:
1. Take up all the seating for dinner between 4pm and 5:30 for the early bird special.
2. Complain it's too cold, hot, and then cold again all over the ship.
3. Complain the shows are too loud
4. Complain cruising isn't the same as it was in the 1970s
5. Complain there are no mints on the pillows anymore
6. Get inebriated and annoy people around them
7. Wear far too much perfume.
8. Sneak in cigarette smoking where it's not allowed (balcony, outside decks in non-designated areas)

BigMac3001 got a reaction from FireFishII in Experience with proof of recovery
So, my antigen test was an at home. I did the drive thru at Walgreens to get the PCR, which I'm waiting on the results. I assume it will be positive, but my symptoms are already gone (hurray for the vaccine!). I intend to get the all clear from my doc next week, and get my antigen test two days from the cruise. That way I have the proof of recovery if my two day antigen comes back positive. Yes, I am a planner.

That's what I meant. Once you have the positive PCR, that's really all you need. My initial positive was antigen, which is why I got the pcr.

She should plan to be at the meet and greet that typically happens on the 1st night at 7 or 8pm. This is often where kids will form groups. There will be plenty of kids in her age range.

Every PCR test we have ever done or scheduled for my son for the cruise was all free.

It seems there is a younger group versus an older group for most activities, so she wouldn't be with a 17 year old anyway, but thanks for your concern.

BigMac3001 reacted to dantuck in What to Bring on Your Cruise
People always ask what to bring on a cruise. Obviously, this will depend on the cruise (where) and your personal needs, but the attached has served me well for many years as a reminder of things to bring. I typically do tropical, so some will not apply to colder regions. I know this does not include everything and maybe you have ideas to add based on your experience. Happy cruising!

I’m just wondering - what’s the reason you’re not wanting to get tested? I get that some people are not comfortable with the vaccine, but testing seems pretty harmless. Is it the risk of being so close to the trip then you can’t go? I’m just wondering - and you don’t have to answer if it’s personal!

BigMac3001 got a reaction from Hharris1997 in Final weeks Before Cruising--I've Now Become Numb
Been counting down since 100+ days out and now we are less than two weeks to go. I'm so ready. Don't care about any of the negativity. It's going to be the trip of a life time!

Thanks. I'm the exact opposite of a helicopter parent. I trust my kid.

speak to the AO staff about getting your child moved into the teen group. I was able to do this with my son at 11.

I've read that you can appeal to the staff that runs the club....I would have no idea how to go about that.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn Mid Beach before our cruise on June 4. I'll provide a report. Looks like it is steps away from the beach so plus.

Thanks for this! I hadn't received an email, but I did have options with this site. Just put a 10 dollar over minimum on large balcony. Let's see where the dice land....

BigMac3001 got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Chat App Age Limit
I'm testing this next month. I'm buying voom for my wife and I, but not my daughter. Her phone will only be connected to the wifi via the RC app. She already has it installed, and we set up her account as if she were 13 (she's 12). So far, she has full access. Of course, we won't be able to test the messenger portion until we see on the ship. The 2 bucks a day is much better than a third voom account.
