Peter D got a reaction from Pattycruise in North Star Extended Experience
The free experience is straight up, hold for scenery, and straight down. The extended experiences are longer, because in addition to going straight up, it will swing out over the water (during sea days). Personally, I do not think the extended experience is worth $49.

We booked at $200 and it held on the Inaugural. No mention of mistake. Experience of a lifetime.

Peter D got a reaction from JohnK6404 in No more cover bands?
According to their website https://phoenixclassicrockband.com/
Phoenix is doing two weeks on Icon in March, April, and May. One week on Icon in June before starting on Oasis.

Does seem like less and less tribute bands, but they are still around. DSB (Journey) is schedule on Symphony of Seas Feb 10 sailing.

Interesting. I booked it as soon as it was announced (as placeholder TBD) for two different nights on my October 2024 sailing, and the charge was only $400 for each night. This $72 gratuity is a new addition. Seems they either planned for the gratuity to be included or they forgot to add it originally.

Peter D got a reaction from DDaley in Suite Guarantee vs. Junior Suite Guarantee
I think Royal Suite Class is just the term Royal uses for suites on the newer, bigger ships and the Royal Suite Guarantee can be any suite class cabin which includes Jr Suites, (and will likely be a Jr suite).

That is very strange. I wonder if it is yet another RCL website glitch.
I have only ever used the GTY-suite (Category WS) which has been that first one ($735pp) and it assigned a J3 Junior suite. I see absolutely no reason to select the Junior Suite option for $975pp.
Did a quick look on a random Navigator cruise and the "pick your room" listed Junior Suite for $946 and Junior suite for $1056. First was for category J4 and second was category J3.

Peter D got a reaction from RCIfan1912 in 2 adults & 3 young kids.. room options??
You did not mention any specific class of ship, but our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 older children) has stayed many times in the promenade family staterooms on Freedom class ships. They are now called Spacious Promenade view interior category 1Q. There are four total, located mid ship deck 7 (7307 and 7607) and 8 (8307 and 8607) on all Freedom Class ships. Highly recommend them, though they probably sell out fast. You can easily find youtube tour videos of these rooms.

Peter D got a reaction from Mary Sue in Dining Frustrations
It's strange that your TA put you on a wait list for My Time Dining. I thought that was always a default if you could not get a main dining time (early or late). If you keep checking with your TA, you might get it changed officially and then you can book your dining times through the cruise planner. Good luck.

Peter D got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in One day sale tomorrow only (December 20)
I think I also saw the post referenced here, but I do question difference being only with Voom. If it were just everything except free internet, that would be one thing, but the perks listed, being same as Sea Class perks are: Coastal Kitchen for dinner only (based on availability), no access to suite lounge, and (presumably) no Concierge service. If it is truly everything except internet, then that is really pathetic.
I wonder if the point of this whole Sky Jr Class was to make regular Jr suite more appealing.

Peter D got a reaction from Neesa in One day sale tomorrow only (December 20)
I am glad to hear you are having your TA confirm, but the concerning thing about 'Pretty sure website wasn't updated' is Royal updated the website to state "Sky Junior Suite Exclusives" but not actually update the perks which are identical to the Jr Suite Sea Class perks. The Utopia Sky Jr suite states "Sky Class Exclusive" and is the true sky class perks.
At this point based on all the discussions, I am very leery of this whole Sky Jr Suite program.

By all means have your TA investigate. It was posted by a very reputable source last month that RC changed the benefits for the "new" Sky Class JS on ships other than Utopia, Icon, and Spectrum (Star wasn't out yet). He mentioned that you will not get free internet like you normally would in Sky Class on the other ships

Peter D got a reaction from cmich068 in Drink Package ROI
It further complicates the break even when you figure in free drinks. Adding 4, 5, or 6 drinks for D, D+, and Pinnacle, brings these numbers up in the 10-16 drink range. Honestly if Royal offered C&A members free drink value (say $40-60/person/day) to the onboard savings, buying a drink plan would look a lot more appealing over just 4-6 free drinks.

Just out of curiosity, which ship are you looking at for Sky Junior Suite? Double check that the perks are indeed sky class perks, because ships like Oasis are calling it Sky Junior Suite and only quoting Sea Class perks.

Peter D got a reaction from Matt in Alaska with kids age 7 and 9
Quantum class ships are definitely better choice for kids based on the Seaplex alone, in my opinion, and Quantum class ships do have an indoor pool. I think the Radiance class ships only have outdoor pools where kids are allowed (Solarium pools are supposed to be adult only). The ports of call are probably equivalent though some may offer excursions that might be more appealing kids.
I think only the Radiance class ships do the northbound/southbound cruises from Vancouver to Seward and back.
For an easy comparison, you can check out the following videos

and Ovation
Hope that helps.

For what it is worth, Royal was selling coffee card during Black Friday deals for $12.99 for 7 day cruise (on my Icon sailing Oct2024) as well as 3- and 4- night Utopia sailings.

It's also one of the truly "free" perks from C&A. Most perks from the program are discounts, which are nice - but you still need to pay for stuff to get the benefit.
I'm not Diamond, but I would never ever make the drinks package work for me because I don't drink that much alcohol. I don't drink that much and not much into juices/shakes/etc.
But 4 drinks a day...oh my - a couple of cocktails, a specialty coffee, and a whatever else is perfect. Anything else I can pay as I go.
