I don't know, and I will ask. I do know there was barely breathing room in the Windjammer.

This is the first time we have not planned any excursions. We've done this cruise a bunch of times and so far we're planning on just winging it. Plus, hiring a pulmonia in Mazatlan has been our best tour ever.

We are on this cruise Nov 10th, and it will be our 5th identical cruise from L.A. since last November. We cruised Nov, Feb, Mar, Sep, and now Nov again. The weather in Mexico was wonderful every time, but on the March cruise, we experienced horrendous weather in Los Angeles. For preparations sake... Our luggage and many others was exposed to drenching rain at the L.A. Terminal, completely saturating everything in our luggage. Took much of the week to get everything in our luggage hung and dried in our cabin.

Wow, thank you all for these amazing responses and pictures. It sounds like Endicott is the place to go if I want to get closer to the glacier for pictures and viewing. Thank you, again!!!
Close is relative. The Tracy Arm Glacier is huge, and I thought we were quite close. The ship, Explorer, stayed on scene with a great view, and spun cookies in place, so everybody on the ship had absolutely great views of the glacier, and of the entire area, start to finish. I do not believe there is any bad choice.

Yes. A small boat came along side almost as if tendering. Excursion guests left the ship to the smaller boat that went to the glace face. The smaller boat met Ovation as it docked in port and excursion passengers offloaded back onto Ovation. You can see how far away Ovation really was from the glacier face. The small boat gets very close.
Are you still speaking of Tracy Arm?

I've tried to find out, but is there a certain time of year that you can't get up close to the glacier at the end? I saw a video where Carnival had an excursion to go there, but the water was melted of ice, and I'm assuming RCL has an excursion off the ship to go to the glacier?
This is a two-part question.
Are there times when the weather prevents getting close to the Tracy Arm glacier? Oh, I imagine bad weather could prevent just about anything, regardless of the time of year. We did it in July and it was marvelous.
An excursion, off the ship? This area is rugged. Maybe some ships have tenders that they could run to the glacier, but this is hard for me to imagine. It certainly was not offered on Explorer of the Seas.

Busy day. We slept in substantially.
The casino has been good to me.
Can't put my finger on it, but the MDR is struggling. If we were drinking wine or other liquor, our drinks would be never empty. But drinking coffee or soft drinks, we have to chase down our servers and ask for drinks and refills. Every time. Our dinners have been very extended. Food delivery has been very slow, causing us to not get out of the dining room until nearly 7:30. The beef tenderloin tonight was good, but I don't understand it being under gravy. The prime rib last night was also slathered in gravy. I don't profess to be a foodie, so that may be acceptable elsewhere, but it's a change to me. The cut was roughly a half inch thick and very tough. I ate it and still smiled. I don't want to be one of the complainers.
Our room attendant has been great. I don't know how he always seems to make it into our room unnoticed, but everything has been perfect.
The Windjammer for lunch, although more crowded than I am used to, has been good.
Thats all for now. I am tired.
I am having a wonderful time.
