Galveston's Port Director reported this week that they will now study the need for a parking garage at the future Royal Caribbean Cruise Terminal 3.  He also reported that the Port of Galveston is continuing its commitment to Cruise Terminal 3 with surveying,  engineering, traffic studies and design, and other physical work to support the new terminal.  As a reminder, Royal Caribbean requested earlier this year that they be allowed to delay the terminal completion by one year.

OK, since I've gone down this rabbit hole this far, I'll share one more thing and then I'll be done. My friends (who are all breed enthusiasts and one is the breeder of my lost girl) collaborated with an artist (painter) friend of ours and this arrived at my door yesterday. 

Agreed! Cruise or not, my kids aren't going to be getting some untested or tried vaccine because they MIGHT get something that has a 96%+ recovery rate in people of good health, especially children.
@Ampurp85 I agree. The cruise lines could get away with it, but I don't think they want to do that considering how many people from different countries may not be able to get it. The cruise industry has a very diverse consumer base.

My fear is that schools will make it mandatory for children....Kind of like kids who are not given all the non-flu vaccines are not allowed in most public/private school settings.....I am fearful of giving anything to my kids that I feel is rushed......

I just hope that they don't make it mandatory. A rushed product is dangerous, but what happens if it causes a worse problem with side effects and allergic reactions? The flu vaccine was like that at one point before they stopped using eggs and such for it. Unfortunately, when most things first appear on the scene, whether it is vaccine or a new electronic device, there are a few "bugs" in it. I say let them take it first and we see what happens to them. THEY can be the guinea pigs if they decide to make it mandatory.

Nobody knows how long this 14-day quarantine requirement will last, or what states/countries will be included in it by the time ships are sailing in Sept/Oct (maybe?).  It's currently June and ANYTHING can happen in 3 months.  Literally.  Pigeons with frickin' laser beams on their heads is not outside the realm of possibility.

The flu vaccine is only effective between 19% and 53% of the time, depending on the flu season. (I got this info from the CDC website) So, I'm not putting my faith in a new vaccine that hasn't even went through the same rigors as the flu vaccine. I also know that every time my husband has gotten the flu vaccine he has gotten pneumonia (and yes it was more than once). He now refuses to get it. I much prefer to use other means of not getting sick, ya know like washing my hands and not licking strangers. That is just my preference. You do what you think is right for you.

Don's rant at the end of the video is what is upsetting to us all (at least me) ... even a simple "I'm right on top of that Rose!" just so we know there is conversations happening. 

I take what he says with a grain of salt, but what he said about the CDC made me think a bit. I know all of this is sort of new, but they should have been able to tell the industry SOMETHING by now as far as guidelines. This isn't their first rodeo with an illness and they have had things shut down for 3 months (ish). Just a thought.

I have wanted to do that, too!  I am hoping RCI does a cruise from Florida to California in 14 days (full transit) like other cruise lines, at some point.  It would be a smaller ship due to cruise length, but I think it would be awesome to show the kids that much history (and see it for myself, as well!).

Absolutely disgusting is right! I would welcome the total elimination of the Windjamner and replace it with something more sanitary. There’s nothing more gross then watching people grab food with bare hands and then deciding they no longer want it and put it back for some poor unfortunate soul to eat. Pre or Post COVID19 still not a fan.

Good point about safety.  My best friend has land down in Oklahoma.  Maybe we can talk him into us going with his family down there for hiking, camping, bike riding (we have spent enough time at home where the kids have actually learned how to ride their bikes pretty well), tending of animals (they have a small amount of cattle), and some outdoorsy stuff for a long weekend.....Would be simpler not to have to plan around unrest and outbreaks.

I am soooo ready to sail and agree about their already distressed refund / FCC system.  Plus, I think they want to see more info about how COVID-19 is spreading as it gets closer to September.  Like everyone has said, them hanging on to their money longer helps them survive.
If this cruise gets canceled, we will book something for next year and try to go somewhere fun with the kids this year.  I love being on the water, but I need a little time away.....so, I may end up with a land vacation doing some stuff down in TX.

I am not sure what they are waiting for to open. Seeing as most of the country is opened up, unless they are waiting for a vaccine. OS at this point, I would say there wont be anything till 2021...….especially with a 2nd wave supposed to be coming this  fall(not my words nor do I care but)
 
I am seriously concerned about the cruise industry moving forward....people HAVE to fly sometimes, but cruising is totally leisure. And if somehow they get back on track by the end of the year to resume cruising.....you dont think Covid-20 or something else wont show up in the near future to shut it all down again?

@Jason12  Where did you find the form to see options?  I just wanted to check but cannot find it on their site.
