  1. Welp, you can cross off June 4th on Adventure. ? Next up: October 11, 2020, on Brilliance, with what I'm expecting to be a motley crew.
  2. From a police department a few towns over...
  3. Unfortunately, RCCL refused to hold until May 31 since I don't have an FCC coming, but Sharla did manage to get me a couple extra days.
  4. Same here. Mine's on June 4. I know it's a huge decision for them on what to do, but hopefully this is something they've previously considered, as an extension was, sadly, not wholly unexpected.
  5. I still contend I'm more likely to get sick on an airplane than a cruise ship. It never seems to fail that I feel like crud a day or two after I get off a plane. We're all crammed into a space that is MUCH smaller than when we're able to spread out on the ship. At least if I get sick on my next cruise (even with the sniffles!), I can hang out in my cabin and on my aft balcony and have space to myself and be distanced without being stuck inside. I've edited the post where I posted the article in its entirety via screenshots to include a link for anyone who needs it.
  6. Steve, that's exactly why I'm back in school and what I'm trying to find ways to fix.
  7. Yeah...I know how it works. I worked as a journalist and editor for the first half of my professional career; tactics like these are exactly why I'm no longer doing it. I also believe in being aware of what's being written beyond sensationalist headlines that just make people angry. At least by knowing what's being written, it can be countered to help reduce public anxiety, frustration, or anger, especially when it's all very unjustly misdirected at one sector -- in this case, a sector that we're all very fond of: cruising. Here's the link, as it was pointed out that some folks might need it on social media or might wanna read the linked stories within the article. As an alternative so people don't need to click the link:
  8. EDITED 3:11 p.m. Eastern: Please disregard this post; the story is posted in its entirety in my next reply so people don't have to click through and give ad revenue to The Guardian or money to Ms. Matei.
  9. This is awesome; it's interesting to note that -- were the updated CDC order still published tomorrow -- cruises would resume on July 4.
  10. Thanks, Annette; I'll touch base with Sharla again -- maybe I didn't communicate my request clearly in my email; days and words are all blending together lately! Edited to add: She said it was supposed to hold automatically until 5/31, but it didn't for whatever reason, so she'll call and take care of it for me. Once more, lemme say, travel agents rock -- especially the MEI crew! ?
  11. I'm trying my best to be patient, but it's just frustrating to have cash refunds for price adjustments and the refund of deposits for cruises booked for next year that you cancelled all sorta lost in the ether and bureaucracy. Granted, I originally planned for that money to be not in my account, but I also didn't expect...well...this worldwide situation, either. I worry that Royal will be so focused on FCCs (which I get are important), that the smaller refunds will be lost in the void for months on end. Add to that my frustration that I didn't put direct deposit info on my tax return this year because I neither owed nor am getting a refund, so I'm anxiously waiting for the IRS to launch their tool this week so I can update that info and get my stimulus check. And sadly, because I don't have an FCC coming back, but instead am just waiting for deposits and price-adjustment credits, I can't do a hold until May 31 on an October cruise, and that hold's gonna expire in a couple of days and I'll lose the opportunity at an awesome cabin. ? I got an FCC for a cruise I cancelled when they rolled out Cruise With Confidence, but I guess that won't count for extended hold purposes since it's already been issued. I love cruising, but I think cruising hates ME right now. ? P.S. Sorry for the rambling rant...I'm exhausted from work and school and can barely keep track of what day it is, and was just SO looking forward to a break on the seas.
  12. What do you call a fly with no wings? A walk.
  13. That's how I've been reading it. The text says 100 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register, and per the Federal Register's website, the order is scheduled to be published on 4/15, so that's when the 100 days would start.
  14. Since you've posted this in two different places, could you please provide the text of the email you received from RCCL that included your FCC? There have been multiple reports that, at least under "Cruise with Confidence", these FCCs have been accepted toward cruises paid in full, and in fact, my travel agent said she will be applying one for me in the next few days.
  15. What jokes are allowed during stay-at-home orders? Inside jokes.
  16. I'm much more worried about catching something while flying, or riding the bus or train on a daily commute than while I'm aboard a ship. Sadly, it doesn't help that so many people seem to see cruising as some sort of extravagance. ?
  17. Here's a story from 2015 from Travel Weekly, talking about the fact that the cruise lines stopped doing "cruises to nowhere" from U.S. ports in 2016. https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Customs-says-cruises-to-nowhere-were-never-legal
  18. Okay, so this is just their take on the CDC's latest guidance. What I don't understand is why Business Insider felt the need to single out RCCL and Carnival in their headline. Now I'm even more annoyed. ?
  19. Publication could take anywhere between 5-10 days. The last order was effective March 14 and published in the Federal Register on March 24.
  20. If you need another example to help...
  21. If I go forward on my June cruise, I'll book Chops for lunch on embarkation day through my Cruise Planner and report back. The things we do in the name of research!
