  1. My renewal came in Feb but I'm like 90% sure I will just downgraded to the preferred. $795 on top of $195 for an authorized user is $1k for perks if won't use. It's all fancy and expensive options now. Plus since most of my cruise bookings are casino based i can't use the travel options. Also while I do spend a decent amount, $75k is way too much to unlock the better perks.

  2. I have stayed at the Fairfield Inn as well as the Hampton Innin Miami. Both were decent and had shuttles.

I have also been on Freedom a lot. She is a great ship. Similar to Voyager class. Really good ice show and a decent casino. Although I heard there's now a bigger non-smoking casino with a bar. Nice selection of food venues and a great crew.

  3. My opinion, and my opinion only, is that if you go into anything thinking you will be disappointed.......you will be.

Whether something is a downgrade or not depends on your standards. Having sailed a lot of the classes, even different ones right behind each other, I can say I always notice the differences. But I have only set myself up for disappointment once.

I haven't sailed Icon, yet, but I have been on Oasis and based on my research there is enough of a noticeable difference. You, however, have star class going in your favor, so to me that makes almost everything anyone else might be concern about negligible. So embrace this new class as an adventure.

  4. This may be an issue. Unlike offers that come in the mail/email. You can't just apply a earned comp to an already booked cruise. You need a next cruise booking to use the certificate you earn. So you would have to cancel your current sailing. Which could free up the room or not depending on the rep. A lot can happen to inventory but be advised the casino doesn't hold as much as others.

I thought that was just the Hibachi versions of Izumi.  This is just the run of the mill Izumi on Vision.

We've never used the BOGO deal before, but we're getting bold and branching out.

The way it is worded I have always assumed it was no Izumi.

That is one of the things that makes these offers nice. I would book out as far as you can because you will start receiving more mail offers now too which are usually for dates 2-6 months out. Unless you want to go on a cruise in the next month or so. The other nice thing is the free play. I assume you went and got your prime sticker on your card so you can use the benefits immediately. If you have another cruise within the next week or so it may not be printed on your card yet either so make sure you get the sticker.

Actually if for any reason you need a new card during the sailing you make prime, it will print on the new card. The sticker is so they don't have to print a new card.  So if you are sailing B2B/S2S, you will have it on the card. You actually only get the sticker if you cross during that sailing.

  7. I agree with @WAAAYTOOO. I'm not the hugest fan of Chop's so I will take the B2B luncheon over that because free ninety-nine is the best price 🤣.

My only complaint is if you are doing more than a B2B, at least on Freedom, they don't change the menu. We had a B3B and it was the same menus, but like I said you can't beat the ambiance. No chaos or loose tiny humans touching things and putting them back. Plus you often get a show. In our case a loud pinnacle chasing single traveler telling new cruisers somewhat false info.

Yup, special lunch. It's in the MDR with Key but on opposite sides is the MDR. It's funny they kept us separate and I have no idea if their menu was different but the lunch was excellent. We had I think 34 people doing a back to back. It's a great experience that I want to do again but not as easy from NJ as it is Florida.

The menu is different. The Key gets an abridged Chop's lunch. While B2B'rs get a menu consisting of what Royal considers to be the top MDR entrees. I believe there are 4 menus( mains are short rib, pecan-crusted salmon, chicken parm and a few other select options) and no way of knowing which will be served.

While the ambiance is great, the food won't beat a specialty imho.

  9. As soon as I saw that seagull picture I laughed loud and my coworker gave me a death stare.

The photos of your wife's dessert concoctions proves my theory that the soft-serve on PDCC is different than the ship. The last time I had it at PDCC it started to melt and the texture was weird. I assume it was spoiled by the heat but the photos show the same texture.

Also meeting a blog member or two doesn't ruin your introvert rep. 🤫

  10. It's nice when you have the same room but even if you didn't the process isn't that bad. I did a B3B on Freedom and we had different rooms each leg. The room attendant moves your stuff, so you only carry what you need. In our case it was laptops so we could work in the Star lounge or library. I have a B3B on Oasis in September; the first and third sailing are gty but IDC as the best part is not having to disembark for 15 days.
