I'm guessing that 3rd balcony is the selling point?

This is the only thing I can think of.  ...and those other 2 small balconies are absolutely USELESS !  I am always amazed that often those huge suites 8724 and 8324 are the ones that are left until the end.  It boggles the mind.  I even looked at the Owner's Loft Suite (which is a corner) on You Tube and it looks smaller than the middle CLS on either deck 8 or 10.  Why would ANYone pay more money for that OLS ?  It's not even as big as the CLS.

Anyway....SweetPea, you have a beautiful suite.  You are going to love, love, love Star Class.  I don't know Derick but I'm sure he'll be great.  I don't know if he was on Anthem in Feb. or not.  There was 1 male Genie and 2 females.  Yen never introduced us to the other 2 Genies, which I thought was odd.  On all of our other SC cruises our Genie has always introduced us to the other Genies just in case we needed anything....and we actually did once.  If Agostina is the other female Genie that was with us on Anthem in Feb (and I think she is) I did like her.  She was very funny and seemed to be very personable.

did you happen to notice if Diamond Plus had specialty seating for the shows in 270 or the theater?

I did not notice in 270.  I don't believe there are any reserved areas on the ground floor of 270 HOWEVER there may well be a reserved area in the upper section of 270.  I never went up there so I don't know what is really even up there !  If there is a reserved area I do not know if D+ are eligible or not.

There is definitely a reserved area in the main theater but whether or not D+ are included...I just don't know.  I should have been more thoughtful of such things when we were there.  It seemed like the time just flew by.

how full was the Coastal Kitchen for dinner

I don't recall the CK ever being particularly busy.  We ate dinners there only twice but both times I remember thinking that there were lots of available tables.  It is my impression (based only on 2 visits !) that you would have no trouble getting a reservation at the CK.  You might have to be flexible with your times but I think you will get in without any trouble.

I know you will have a great cruise.  Anthem is beautiful.  Enjoy.

We are staying at the Hilton in Condado, do you have any restaurant recommendations in that area?

I wish I could help...but it's been a number of years since we were in SJ and I am TERRIBLE with names of restaurants.  I know we took a bus somewhere....and just wandered around and found somewhere.  We've been there 3 times but not in a few years.  I believe that you are in the hotel that we stayed at the first time we were in PR.  The second time we stayed at the Ritz Carlton and the last time we stayed at the Intercontinental.  I know there are restaurants within walking distance of both the Ritz and IC but for the life of me I cannot remember what is around the Condado.  I just remember that while there was a beautiful ocean view, the beach really sucked.

  4. I held my breath until I read your room number.  I was so afraid that you had booked one of the corner CLS on Deck 10....but it seems (from the You Tube tour that I watched) that 10324 does not suffer from any of the misfortunes of 10720.  You are going to love that suite.  The long walk aft is the only down sideto those suites and you get used to it quickly.

Who is your Genie ?  We had Yen Lee in Feb but I think she is probably still on vacation.

  5. We are staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan too....we are arriving on April 27 and leaving on Freedom on Sunday, April 28.

We usually just do taxis in PR but it's been a few years since we were in PR. We usually stay in the Condado area; this will be our first time in OSJ.  I have no idea how far it is to the port from OSJ but figure we will just do a taxi and leave it at that.

Would royal offer you the opportunity to bid on a particular cabin if one was not available?  Seems odd that they would offer some cabins but not all if that were the case.

Yes, it seems like they offer the RoyalUp even if there are no cabins available in that/those category.  That way, if they happen to have a higher category cabin cancellation at the last minute they will have everyone poised to move up automatically and fill the higher category cabins.  If nobody cancels, nobody gets an upgrade.

  7. In all of the times that we have had a drinks package (which has been 100% of the time over the last year or so), we have never ever - not once - used one of those plastic cups.  We usually just leave them on the counter when we leave.   I never considered that it might be able to be used on a different cruise...although if I didn't use it on one cruise why would I think I would use it on the next cruise ?!  On the second leg of our Anthem B2B there were 4 of those cups in our room !  I guess the people who were in there before us didn't use them either !

I may or may not have given 1 of those plastic cups to one of our new besties that we may or may not have met at the Chef's Table one of our Anthem B2Bs.

  8. I concur with Twangster re: Bonaire. The water is outstanding (considered a Mecca for SCUBA divers) but the beaches are kinda sucky.  If you want to snorkel (and I do highly recommend it), do it from a boat.  The boat to Klein Bonaire is an excellent choice.

Does the Masters Suite lounge/ Coastal Kitchen access apply to both occupants of the cabin or just the Masters player?

That's a good question.  To my knowledge, casino tiers are not "shared" with other members of your family the way that C&A status is.  I would imagine that your access to the lounges along with other perks will apply just to you but I really do not know.  If 2 friends are cruising together and sharing a stateroom, one has a high C&A status and the other does not, both members of the stateroom are not granted access to the Suites lounge/Coastal Kitchen so I imagine it's the same with casino tier levels.

I have the 2BR ATS on Oasis booked for just my wife

I guess they have just given up trying to have a minimum occupancy on these big suites.  It used to be hard to get the 2 BR ATS for just 2 people.  Now it seems like it's not so hard.  It is an AWFULLY big suite for just 2 but we've done it a number of times. Very nice if you don't mind the walk.

  11. Hmmm....this doesn't sound good at all.  I haven't tried to have my 2 cruises repriced yet.  I was going to give it a little time and let the rush die down.

If this turns out to be the new "norm" then I will just cancel my B2B Star Class cruises on Anthem.  I will take the hit on the cancellation penalty and reassess whether we will continue to be loyal to Royal.  I'll let you know what happens when I ask Michelle to reprice the 2 I was planning on using for my annual cruise(s).

Sometimes a shoddy tip was more insulting than no tip at all.

I believe this to be true, too.  Sometimes it cannot be helped !

When we tip them individually, do they get to keep the entire amount for themselves or do they have to share that too?

I think this depends on who it is and what their job is.  I believe that often the bartenders will pool their tips b/c there are so many working the crowd but I think it's an individual choice on their parts as to how they handle this.  Obviously, if you tip a room attendant, that money will go directly to him/her.
