  1. We’ve never even tried to use our shareholders benefit b/c all of our cruises are booked using casino comps. I just assumed that they would be disqualified. Maybe we should start trying.
  2. Hey, Lorraine ! Glad to see you back on the boards !
  3. Yep, this is definitely an issue...particularly if you do not have a very responsive agent. Luckily I do.
  4. Dan also loves the sushi making classes but he is a terrible student. He just does his own thing and ignores the sensei. Of course, I’m no better. I enjoy some sushi but I HATE that seaweed wrap so I leave it off. Yes, my rolls are a bit “flaccid” but they sure taste better (to me).
  5. My guess is that Royal will just play a waiting game until after Nov 2020. It’s possible that the policy on Cuba could change back to the way it was and Majesty and Empress would be back on their Cuba itins again.
  6. I was going to say how much I loved the 4 Seasons...and then came the “senior citizens” comment. ?? ?
  7. SO agree with you re: Suites sun deck and Concierge Club. Complete waste of real estate and so much better on O Class.
  8. I think Havensight was damaged during <one of> the hurricane and still has not been fully restored.
  9. OUCH ! I wonder if he learned anything from his very expensive lesson. Probably not.
  10. Hmmm.... seems you are the victim of not only high population pricing but also scarcity of resources pricing due to THEIR removing seating for construction requirements. Double whammy !
  11. Is Havensight open again ? It was closed the last time we were there (April on Freedom).
  12. Perfect Day prices are going to vary for any number of reasons. Check and see if there will be more than 1 ship there on the day that you are there. If so, the prices are going to be higher b/c demand will be higher. Also, the time of year will influence price. There could be so many reasons why the price is higher for a particular sailing/visit to CC.
  13. This is also my understanding. Normally though, the specialty restaurants are NOT open on port days...at least not the traditional specialties like Chops and Giovanni's/Jamie's. I have had 100% good luck with specialty restaurants on embarkation day - even since The Key started. So far have never been turned away. Fingers crossed that this streak continues. I think being in a suite helps though. I always ask the Suites Concierge to make us a reservation at a specialty restaurant on embarkation day and so far, they always have.
  14. I know those post-Star Class Blues. It’s hard to deal with life without a Genie but we always manage to push through. Welcome home. The land where nobody does your laundry for you or cooks and cleans for you. ???
  15. At least you can sleep ! The night before cruise day I can’t even sleep at all !
  16. My newest secret ingredient for burgers - just a pinch of wasabi. Soooo good
  17. I agree with you on this ! I hate doing the air part. It's my least favorite part of cruise planning.
  18. I am the only cruise planner in our family. Half the time Dan has no idea where we are going or what ship we're sailing on. He wouldn't have a clue about how to find, price or book a cruise ! He's a great cruisin' buddy but for planning....not so much....
  19. It's amazing how motivated everyone is when it's cruise day ! Have a great time !!!
  20. Pina colada made with Amaretto instead of rum
  21. I read on another site that they are currently recruiting a new cast for Cats so it doesn't look promising that they are changing it out. So stupid...so few actually enjoy this show !
  22. We have done the San Juan departures many times. I can't really think of any drawbacks aside from the obvious...it's expensive to fly to San Juan. The last time we did this (April of this year) we stayed at a hotel using comp rewards so I can't comment on hotel costs with any current data. These southern Caribbean itins generally pack in a lot of ports and I generally prefer more sea days but that is a personal preference. Cruising in this part of the Caribbean during hurricane season can be a bit riskier than other parts of the Caribbean but only slightly. Actually, the western southern Caribbean (ABC islands, primarily) are fairly exempt from hurricanes so perhaps that is a plus in their favor. These cruises do have a larger volume of Spanish speakers, given the departure from SJ, but it isn't a noticeable problem, that I have experienced.
