  1. Them’s just the rules....
  2. There is no downside to working with an agent now and booking when the time is right. You will not lose a deposit under the current rules. If you book a non refundable deposit way out in the future then you might risk losing a part of your deposit if you change your mind later. Deposits are all being refunded currently.
  3. They will not extend the final payment deadline. If you want to cancel the cruise it is best to cancel before final payment.
  4. The only problem I had with the rooms behind the restaurants on 8 is that the one on the forward “hump” was a long walk to the aft elevators. Other than that, I also loved these rooms.
  5. Yes, you did it exactly the right way. Once your FCCs are received, just have them applied to your replacement cruise.
  6. As far as I know there is always a UDP. I suppose there’s a chance that it has sold out but frankly, I’ve never seen that happen before. Odd that it isn’t showing up in the Cruise Planner.
  7. You have to go all the way through the booking process to find the refundable deposit option.
  8. I’m not sure I want this with a hot dog but a good Italian sausage ? Maybe... not sure how easy it would be to get the spaghetti through a real sausage though....
  9. We’re close too. May 16
  10. If things work the way have before, your taxes and prepaid gratuities will be refunded to your credit card. I am not sure how the insurance will be handled.
  11. My goodness. As if most people weren’t already confused enough with the FCC, now they include Cruise Planner items in it. I wish they would just make a plan and stick to it. I guess it shows that they are REALLY trying to save cash. Wow.
  12. Joe, I’m so happy that you are finally on the mend. Hopefully the new shoes will do the trick. Best of luck !
  13. It sounds to me like you just got a dud on the phone. I would try calling again and see if they will either reprice or upgrade you at no cost.
  14. Ok. That’s what confused me, too. I thought the OP had booked through Royal and wanted to rebook through Costco. So this is one of those pitfalls of using the big agencies. They will not reprice. Lesson learned. Book with an Agency that provides better service and will reprice.
  15. And Royal won’t upgrade you directly ?
  16. If there is really a $600 difference between the price you paid and the Costco group rate, you could probably still make out better by cancelling your current booking, pay the $100 PP cancellation fee, and rebooking with Costco. Just know that Costco has some problematic “rules” about repricing and they do not participate in the Royal Up program, etc. It is not always easy to get assistance when you need it from those big agencies. But if $$$ is your main concern, it looks like you could still come out ahead by rebooking through Costco. Before I did that, however, I would be very sure that Royal would not reprice your cruise, first. Did you all Royal to see if you could reprice ?
  17. Yes. You can only use an FCC on an existing reservation. Therefore, the deposit must have already been made. No, Royal is not getting additional money from you (unless the cruise fare on the “replacement “ cruise is more $$ than the original cruise, which it is, in many cases). Your original deposit is being refunded to you as it is part of the FCC....so you are getting everything back that you put into your original cruise, one way or another. There has been a recent change where Royal is permitting extended “holds” to be placed on cruises so that people don’t have to put deposits down, however, I’m not sure if they are changing the fact that the FCC can only be placed against an existing reservation or not. In other words, you may still have to put down initial money (deposit) to create a booking before an FCC can be applied. I just don’t know.
  18. Star Class definitely have awesome mattresses but I have had some pretty bad mattresses even in Owners Suites. You really never know what you’re getting except with SC.
  19. I wonder if those geese were really fighting !! You never know this time of year... ?
  20. IMO, Trump has already signaled that we might be turning a corner soon. Nothing could be MORE true than, "the cure cannot be worse (by far) than the problem". Combined with the new/old treatment protocols that are showing serious promise and the fact that the lethality of the virus seems to be lower than originally anticipated, I think there will be a change in strategy fairly soon. Hopefully once the prohibitions are lifted (could still be a fair distance off, TBH) I think all of the onerous restrictions (self quarantine, 70 year old doctors' notes, etc.) will be lifted fairly quickly as well. Not saying that things will return to the same level of effort as BCV (before Coronavirus) but they will come back on line in phases (my guess). Fingers crossed... ?
  21. You had Brian, not Jesus ? We had Brian as our Room Attendant when we were on Deck 8. I LOVED Brian...and I loved Jesus, too....but Brian is a trip ! He used to always tease us about having a party in our suite when we weren't there. We told him we didn't care if he did !! So much fun. Jesus was, without a doubt, the best towel animal creator that we have ever had. He specialized in the small ones and they were soooo sooo cute.
  22. I think any cruise line would have a difficult time selling any of their ships right now. Who would want to buy them ?
  23. Well, you should be making Pinnacle soon !
