We just got it, too, for our Anthem sailing on 2-7-20. Haven't gotten an email yet. We're in the clear !!

As far as I know, the only ship that will allow you to make CK reservations from the Cruise Planner is Anthem.

So glad you enjoyed the North Star. I had the same reaction. We also had a lot of bleed-through noise from spectra (we were in 8724).

It’s a mixed bag with the spa. Rarely, you will find a discount in the Cruise Planner (as you have already noted, this is most likely to occur early on embarkation day) but more likely, you will see specials onboard (port days, for the most part). They often combine treatments for a small savings. You will never get a true bargain in a ship’s spa.

I have never had expedited boarding but I have read that it just saves a few minutes by cutting out the counter time, if I’m not mistaken. From what I understand, you get a Expedited Boarding by checking in with the app and scanning your passport. You cannot get expedited boarding without a passport, from what I understand.

If Oasis is any indication, I wouldn't expect too many significant changes in the rooms during amplification. I think they spruced the high end suites but I don't believe they did much to the non-suites. They did a lot of refreshing in the common areas. I think all or most of the carpeting was replaced outside. Our Genie told us that the drapes were replaced in our suite but to be completely honest, I don't know if I believe that was true or not. They didn't look new to me...and we had quite a few problems with them. I could tell that the sofa in our suite was new and I think maybe the mattress was new but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath for new mattresses elsewhere. The truth is, the new mattresses on Royal ships were a huge downgrade the last time they made a mass purchase. Let's hope they learned their lesson last time.

This is an excellent idea. That way, it will not be a total surprise to them if you ask for something else.

We were also on this same cruise last year (along with the one the following week). I am so relieved to hear that the weather is going to be good next week. We are flying in on Friday with a connecting flight (double whammy) and I have been worrying that we would run into bad weather. To complicate things even further, Dan will be on a biz trip until late Thursday so there is the third wrench that could be thrown. He will be in New London, CT so he will be waaay closer to our destination than I will be. I told him that if bad weather were to develop (looks like that's not going to happen...thank goodness), he should just go straight to Bayonne from there. Thanks for the encouraging news !!!

Oh sorry....Cats is on Oasis. I hate Mama Mia, too !! ....but between those 2 I would probably go with Mama Mia b/c at least the music is tolerable. ?

I do believe that they limit the number of admissions b/c the price on our Beach Club entry has skyrocketed in the past few weeks. I credit that to the fact that they are probably close to "selling out". We paid $50.99 PP a few months back and it is selling for $93.99 PP today. That's almost double.

Of course, this kind of thing is really about personal preference so it's hard to make objective recommendations. I totally prefer the western Caribbean to the eastern, but it is a case of most favorites and least favorites, in my case. I love Costa Maya. It is one of my very favorite ports but at the same time I refuse to leave the ship at Roatan due to a number of very negative experiences so a western Caribbean including both of these 2 ports is always a high and low, for me. We will be on this itin (sans Coco Cay) in September on Liberty and we're very excited to be going. As for the ships, I don't think you can make a mistake here ! I have yet to cruise on Symphony but I feel sure it is just as wonderful as the other Oasis sisters. It's newer, but with Allure having the amp in the meantime, I don't think there is any down side to cruising on either one. I would go strictly by price here. I do not care for either Hair Spray or Cats so the entertainment would be a wash for me. I am a sea days lover so 4 ports is really more than I like but again, that's a personal taste kind of thing. Since I don't get off in Roatan it's really only a 3 port cruise for me ! That is true of many cruises. Truthfully, I rarely get off the ship anywhere in the Caribbean anymore so I'm not a good source on this topic.

Only the Oasis and Quantum class ships have the ability to pre reserve entertainment venues. All entertainment on Indy is first come, first served.

Dan and I will be on this cruise with you. It will be cold the first day and night and begin warming up on day 2. It’s still too cold for me to be in the water but you will be able to go outside and enjoy the sun by the afternoon of day 2.

I fully respect your decision. There are just too many wildly menacing variables going on here. The truth is, I understand that this “thing” would be due to peak just about the time you are scheduled to be there. Then there’s the fact that the US has declared a state of emergency and will be restricting ingress back into the US. Who wants to get stuck OUTSIDE on this one ?! There are no painless choices here but there are smart ones and I think you’ve hit it. Good luck with minimizing losses.
