  1. When we used to eat in the MDR we would always try and get the same table and wait staff. The MDR staff is very good about arranging that, if they can. Sometimes they can arrange to get you with the same wait staff but perhaps a table or 2 away from your first choice. If you are on MTD you have to be a bit flexible in such situations. They do the best they can.
  2. The UDP is sold out on our 8 April Wonder cruise. I purchased it before it went -poof-
  3. Yes, unless you happen to get a waiter who remembers you and remembers that you have a package.
  4. It is my understanding that a helicopter evacuation from a cruise ship is extremely hazardous and only be undertaken in extremely critical situations. I read, recently, that any ship's captain that allows a helicopter evac would be placing his/her ship in grave jeopardy and would almost certainly never allow it. Aside from the helicopter ship evacuation, I think the rest of the scenario is pretty realistic
  5. I agree ! The self-serve line etiquette is very unclear. No way am I waiting behind someone who has stopped and is waiting on something to be served or delivered to them. I don't think it's rude to circle past them and continue on. If I do not want soup or salad, why would I wait behind a line of people who are serving themselves soup and salad (usually the beginning of a progressive line, but not always) ? I will just circle past them and continue on until I find something I AM interested in. This is one of the reasons that I almost never go into a buffet to begin with. Just too much chaos.
  6. I'm chuckling....but not at you. I just know how frustrating it is when you are trying to get someone (or a group of someones) marching in the same direction. That's why I gave up being the tour guide a while ago. It just takes all the fun out of it and frankly, I don't think anyone really appreciates it ! Now I just say to my friends/family - Dan and I are doing/going *wherever* at *whenever*. If any of you would like to come along, here's how to make your reservations....
  7. This seems to vary by ship. I remember being on Freedom once and we went into JR just to get a shake. We were told, after we ordered the shakes, that we had to pay the cover charge, too. We told them "never mind" and started to walk out, and the manager said he would make an exception for us this time....so we stayed and had our shakes. That was a number of years ago so hopefully they have "standardized" it a bit more....but you can never really count on ANYthing being standard across the different ships. They all have their own little rules that can vary wildly !
  8. Do you think he's just yankin' your chain (and that he really does have a hard copy somewhere) ?
  9. I had forgotten that the CT was held upstairs in the D Lounge. It's been a long time since I've been to a CT on Allure, I guess !
  10. I am not a huge beef eater to begin with but when I bite into a steak and realize that it is not a good cut, I am just repulsed. It ruins the whole meal for me. Sorry this happened. It definitely should NOT happen with the Chef's Table.
  11. Wonder what the cargo was....just sayin'
  12. ....but they never will.
  13. Unless GC decides to build a pier, they will never be able to accept an O class ship at full capacity. O class do not tender.
  14. WOOHOO !!! All the cool kids are moving to FL ! PLEASE let us know how things are going. I pray for a smooth move for you. What is your timeframe ?
  15. Thanks, Marc. I think the above is something that many [new] casino players often overlook. Even if you are booking a cruise with which there was NO casino offer at all, chances are they can still save you money. It took me a really long time to figure this one out and they do NOT advertise it at ALL. IOW, investigate booking through the casino for ALL of your cruises and see if there is a savings. Betcha there will be, even if it is a small savings. I think I saved a minimum of 5% on each and every cruise I booked last year (30+ of them !).
  16. How 'bout using TransAtlantic sea ? I'm kidding of course....I'm sure the timing isn't going to work for a TA home, but that would be super awesome !
  17. Since I am already on this thread, wishing @Snotarnia hearty welcome, I will go ahead and post a small update of my own !! Our "bird cage" (sans birds, @SpeedNoodles LOL) is finally done !!!! It took FORever to get it all done. Permits, inspections, installation, inspections....round and round we went for nearly a year. It will be the focal point of our home, when the new furniture arrives. At that time, I will post some pix.
  18. Welcome to beautiful, warm Florida ! So happy that you made it. I can relate to the boxes. Believe it or not, I still have some ! Very envious that you are already optimizing the cruise proximity. Envious, but very, very happy for you.
  19. Just be aware that if you pay your onboard account with a debit card that the bank will put a hold on your checking account for some period of time after the bill is processed. For the most part it is not advisable to use a debit card for your onboard account.
  20. I feel your pain. While I would love to think that the vax requirement will be gone by ANY time this year, the truth is, I don’t think it’s likely. Possible ? Of course. Much is changing rapidly but the vax requirement is one thing that I fear will be (ridiculously) around for some time to come. I hope I’m wrong.
  21. Didn’t I just read that the priority theater seating for Suites, Pinns and Key is returning soon ?
  22. Not sure if the OP is referring to the security line or the check-in line, but D+ has not received priority security privileges for quite some time now. Check-in, yes, but security ? Nope.
  23. 3 nights is too short even if you DO live in FL ! Glad to hear you enjoyed it though…
  24. I have never seen soda in a bottle (sparkling water and tonic….yes). The DBP includes canned sodas but the refreshments package officially only includes fountain drinks.
