  1. Weird feeling seeing this...I remember very well my first cruise on her in 2013...made me fall in love with cruising. I have flashbacks to certain experiences and wow moments and amazing times on that first cruise whenever I see a pic of her.....guess there wont be many left now.........
  2. Its not that far of a stretch...I am not an investment advisor...but with the little knowledge I do have of what's going on, its not hard to say cruising wont resume this year....with the spike in cases in the Florida area(among others)....we are probably at least 4-8 weeks to get it back under control...and then they wont just open it all up....and then once they give the go ahead..I am guessing its a few weeks to get crew and everything back and up and running(remember, things don't instantly go back to normal at some point)…... So yeah, almost August.....cases go down by late October…..keep it under control..get staff back and ships running again...not hard to see that being pushed to 2021 quite easily.
  3. This virus will be the excuse to end many things that we used to enjoy.....at this point, nothing surprises me or is unexpected in the name of Covid or social distancing or whatever term they come up with next.
  4. Yeah..I would have been there 2-3x already...we usually fly out of Bangor or Portland 2x a year...plus we usually visit Bangor 2-3 a year and sometimes Bar Harbor...so yeah....that's a lot of $$ just we spend there...multiply that by thousands and yeah, makes an impact on a state like Maine for sure.
  5. Ship with more than 1300 passengers would be banned..that would eliminate pretty much all of the major cruise line ships..even the old small ones. I really lied Key West nd was hoping to make it back there again some time on a cruise stop...but looks like it wont be in the cards. I would imagine ppl will vote for that to pass. too bad.
  6. Nah....I would be there if I could be...doesn't bother me at all. Lockdown and loss of rights and liberty bothers me more.
  7. Well all this uncertainly as made us decide we are done with cruising....for now. Hope to be back in 2021 or 2022....
  8. Thanks....another nail in the coffin for cruising for us...way too much to move and lose and the unknown makes it even harder so done for cruising for now. Sad day today is for us....
  9. So I have $200in OBC that I am going to lose..if I book an excursion now...would I get the 125% FCC?...looks like I can still book stuff in my booking as of right now.
  10. About time...and still annoys me that they waited this long..to cancel cruises on her till almost a yr from now..they knew all along..just didn't want to make it official...... Annoys me....booking cruises is done for awhile for us now...we aren't going through all this hassle till this delay and cancel and shift crap is over.
  11. Sucks..., the new ships, the deal, the perks, the cabin....was going to be a great cruise... We are done booking cruises now till this is done.. its absurd that 2 weeks ago Royal wouldn't tell us...and now its like 6 mths of delays..come on.....not very cool in their part....
  12. Dont say that..I didn't see that and cant imagine the devastation economically that would have.....they wouldn't predict something that major that far out..they just keep renewing 30 days at a time right now...
  13. It would be if true..and if I can ever get back down to the US and if cruising ever comes back.. That's a lot of "IF's"......
  14. On one hand it wouldn't make sense as they probably want/need the bigger ships if social distancing and Covid-19 is going to be around for awhile yet... yet I still say the demand is NOT there yet for cruising(even though Royal says 2021 is like normal??!)…..so not sure those big ships are worth the cost if they are half empty or less... We are in unknown times..anything is possible.. We still have a 2nd wave to worry about with this..plus they already say there is a new SARS virus that at any time could become the next outbreak/pandemic......seriously worry for the travel/tourism industry worldwide.
  15. Too bad there was another fire.....my cruise is defn doomed and not meant to be.... Hurry up and cancel it already......
  16. Sorry to hear that.....hope he will be ok. There was a similar situation on the news...older parent lived in NB, kids lived in the US...there were able to come here somehow had to quartine for 14 days in a tent in the back yard...so there are ways around it in some cases I guess.....but its not easy any more to say the least
  17. Land borders aren't open...air borders are....lol And our flights are out of Bangor and Portland...so we have to drive there..unless we want to pay $2000 to fly their first..not realistic.
  18. Not surprised...and I expect more to follow...the longer this goes on..even the "big guys" are going to have some issues...... And its going to take a few months more to really feel the financial effects of Covid here in Canada..ppl can struggle for a Cpl mths with bills and less pay...but I suspect this fall is going to be brutal for business bankruptcies, business closing and ppl claiming bankruptcy.... And if there is a second wave, I really fear for the whole travel/tourism industry as a whole.
  19. That's where we are at...looks like it will be a Caribbean vacation on land in the fall(if our borders are open by then)...there is WAY too much uncertainly and Royal is NOT being forthcoming with information in my opinion..we are not giving them thousands either(plus flights and hotels to figure it out etc) to sit on and let us know at their convivence if the cruise will happen.
  20. I would be pretty confident that it will NOT be delayed past your sail date.....that's 5 months after the expected arrival time....its not that far behind at this point. I hope we do hear something soon...final payment date is coming in 5 weeks....we wont pay the balance if we dont know if its sailing so...
  21. 4 mths now.....we will be allowed next mth to visit a couple of neighbouring provinces.....small steps
  22. We have had this here in Canada(in some provinces at least) for months now. Borders are closed, policed, and you are turned around unless you have a legit reason to go to another province(essential worker is about it) And if they do let you through its 14 day quarantine, on each side..so 28 days really....been like that since March.... Same for coming into Canada...and yes, they will send you back at the airport on your own dime if its not legit.. But Canada is much more government controlled and regulated than the US....so no surprise.. Welcome to the nightmare we have been dealing with..your Mom is dying??...too bad, you cant be here. Even when they do open the International border, the 14 day quarantine will still be in place I suspect for Canadians...so the demand from Canadians for cruises wont be picking up anytime soon.
  23. I am surprised to be honest....I am pretty confident there wouldn't be many virgin cruisers booking cruises for a year from now with the state of the country and the industry. Seems surprising that they would be almost back to the point they were prior to the Covid outbreak. I have a really hard time believing that..seeing as polls here show only about half of hard core, die hard cruises were ready to start cruising again once the ban is lifted(or something to that extent) Not saying Royal is lying...but they are a business and are desperate right now.. Now way in hell I am booking a cruise before it even opens up and now that prices are going up...maybe if I lived in a port city or state but...
  24. That doesn't make sense at all...its all fluff and BS......from him?...It's got to be an intern punching out the responses. If not, it shows a total lack of care and empathy for Royal customers......terrible service. Would have been better to NOT send a response then to send something that is so blatantly cavalier.
  25. I am not sure what they are waiting for to open. Seeing as most of the country is opened up, unless they are waiting for a vaccine. OS at this point, I would say there wont be anything till 2021...….especially with a 2nd wave supposed to be coming this fall(not my words nor do I care but) I am seriously concerned about the cruise industry moving forward....people HAVE to fly sometimes, but cruising is totally leisure. And if somehow they get back on track by the end of the year to resume cruising.....you dont think Covid-20 or something else wont show up in the near future to shut it all down again?
