He and my nephew missed our 3/13 cruise because a storm going up the east coast stopped all flights to Florida or anywhere near, from Boston, Providence, Manchester & Bradley for 2 days.  There was no way, on no airline to get down there.

Oh that’s awful!  I’m so sorry they missed their cruise!

This is one reason to use Air2Sea for your flights. The airline portion of your trip is then with Royal and is "part of the cruise."

Or, use a 3rd party insurance ( example Tripinsurancestore.com ).  Then the flights and cruise and any pre- or post- cruise hotels can all be covered.   When I use airline points, I still include the little bit of airline ticket taxes on the overall insurance costs.  It then covers the flights for interruption or delay, and most will also reimburse any redeposit of miles or points fee.  It also then shows the correct inclusive “trip dates”.

    good luck!

Cruise was insured through whatever product MEI sold us (Aon Affinity?). The flights were booked on points and he got those back plus $250 vouchers each.  But Aon is saying his cancelled flight(s) is not a covered event.  Asked the agent to send copy of the policy.

This thread says ongoing saga.  Sorry, I must have missed your initial post.   Did your brother miss the whole cruise (flights canceled to cruise), or was it flights going home canceled after the cruise is over?  Just trying to understand the context of the problem,

    Good luck!

Ok trip insurance is denying his claim as it does not cover flight cancellations?!?!?  So all flights from 4 airports over 2 days cancelled due to weather is not a covered event under the policy we bought through our MEI agent from whatever company Royal uses?  I emailed her for a copy of the policy.  I am beside myself here!!!!

Do you have additional information - did they insure the flights, too?  Or just the cruise?

I don't disagree with you about that, I was totally understanding of the situation. I didn't throw a fit or get irate onboard, I wasn't rude to anyone about it because I am an adult. I did also speak with guest services onboard the day of the situation and they told me they couldn't do anything about any kind of compensation while onboard I had to wait till I disembarked and contact royal directly.

In regards to my charges I prepaid all my gratuities prior to sailing and I made my perfect day excursion purchase onboard and they never refunded my money back to my account yet. I just wish I could receive some kind of customer service to have helped me with this instead of having gotten the run around like I have been getting. So I didn't have to post here trying to get some kind of help or guidance from random strangers whom I must say are pretty quick to be rude and judgmental.

But thank you for your time and the help you have given me. Be blessed.

Oh, then I must apologize.  I misunderstood, and thought you booked the Coco Cay Perfect Day purchase ahead of time in the Cruise Planner online!  That changes things.

I think there is a post cruise contact - perhaps guest satisfaction or something, whom you can email about not being refunded for the excursion - make sure you advise it was booked onboard.

Anyone out there have the contact email Rob can use for post-cruise follow up?

Edit:  also if you use Twitter or Social Media - others have had success with a short one or two sentence post about not being for refunded excursion after port missed . Usually the social media group will ask for a DM with your cruise booking number to follow up.

  6. OP Rob),

while it’s disappointing to miss a port, if the medical diversion was for you or your family you would be so grateful to have a medical emergency taken so expeditiously and seriously by the Captain.

your prebooked charges for Coco Cay should be refunded to method of payment.

Count your blessings you were not the person with the medical emergency.

I vaguely remember reading about someone who had this same issue and it turned out there was a misspelling somewhere in their name or their birth date was wrong or some other seemingly irrelevant detail, so the system didn't recognise them. This is not necessarily what's happening in your case but you might want to check, just in case.

    Yes!  Email affects it too.

I called Royal to ask for email confirmation on a newly booked cruise, and mentioned that it wasn’t showing In my account.  The CS agent noticed I mis-typed my email when I booked online.  He corrected email linked to the booking, and it immediately showed up in my account.

    Also, Welcome to the Blog!

Im a cruise newbee and trying to book two adults and an infant.

I noticed that booking double occupancy suite is more expensive than booking a solo suite and solo inside room. Even if we dont end up utilizing the inside room it seems to be a better option.
    Can this be done?

Any downside to booking two seperate rooms vs one on a double occupancy?

Are you not adding the child to the booking? You mentioned 2 adults and one baby.  You need to book for 3 passengers.

    edit:

also since this is your first cruise, be aware that there are minimum ages for infants to sail, 6 months, unless 3 or more sea days in a row, then minimum age is 1 year.

what ship and sailing are you considering?

Also, welcome to the Blog !!

Radiance available to book from Galveston this morning

    Thanks.

The variety in the long (9-10 day) sailings is great.

3 visits to Key West and Perfect Day.

2 visits to Colon Panama and Cartagena.

Several combining all the Western Ports.

and the 15  day repo through Panama Canal.

There was a commentator on board for my transit.  He provided a lot of useful information.

Yes, When I read those posts about him (loved that he had extensive  experience working at the canal), I was hopeful that this would be a regular feature on Royal ships.  Keeping my fingers crossed .

  12. @twangster, I know this thread has “a few years” on it, but just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful pictures and commentary.

I’ve booked a Westbound Panama Canal cruise for April 2023 (Galveston to LA).  Reading this thread has been so helpful (especially vantage points transiting  the canal).

My itinerary also has Cartagena, and I can’t wait, as your photos showed the beauty of the old town.

Do you know whether Royal always has a commentator on board for the full transits?  sure hope so.

Thanks again for your details and photos.

Was told onboard Harmony two weeks ago that the ship would be moving to Fort Lauderdale in November 2022.

According to CruiseMapper, it seems that's not the end of her future port changes:

    • Present - October 2022 - Port Canaveral
    • November 2022 - March 2023 - Fort Lauderdale
    • March 2023 - October 2023 - Miami
    • November 2023 - April 2024 - Galveston

Yea, the Galveston Harmony cruises have been available to book for the last 2 weeks.   Exciting!

Wow, that is really strange!.  For my example a few posts above, I only entered crown and anchor status - also 2 passengers.  I left the other fields blank for the comparison.  You may want to try to call Royal or a TA, and see if they quote you a different price.
also, it was only lower for me for JS for the April 25, 2024 cruise

Oh - I believe the sale with extra off ended yesterday.  Not sure if your example above was done before today?  sorry!

Having trouble finding this price. I am a Platinum.

Make sure you enter your C&A number after you select the number of guests, to see the extra flash sale.    There’s an option in small print about promo codes or discounts - choose that.    Once C& A is in it will say up top something about you will get the best deal.    After that, then you can choose category and cabin
