CrimsonCruiser reacted to WhoCruiser in Help us be cheap...
As others have already noted, in San Juan it's very easy to just walk up the hill to do the fort (a small entry fee there, or free if you already have a National Parks membership pass) and enjoy the old city on the way back, lots of options to snack or lunch on if you want to.

San Juan - we skipped breakfast on the ship and ate at a restaurant that looked good along the way to the fort. Took pictures on the hill and toured the fort. Walked down the wall and around the city, then stopped in for drinks at El Covento on the way back to the ship. I think we spent less than $20pp all day, but that was also 15 years ago.

San Juan you can just walk around for hours in Old Town very easily and not spend a dime. However there are tons of very good bars and restaurants that you can venture in and out of. No need to schedule anything ahead of time for that port at all! I was just there 6 months ago and I could spend 2-3 days there easily!

CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from PPPJJ-GCVAB in WOW Royal C&A does not want to send me my crystal block!
Looking for clarification: do you get the crystal block for the cruise on which you cross the 140 threshold or on the first cruise AFTER? We're due to cross 140 on the 2025 cruise we're planning and if we're getting the block for that cruise we want to book a ship that we want to stare at often 😅

Nope, can’t do it here in the land of Steady Habits. Of course we were founded by Puritans and you still can’t drive a whale through a town either!

It doesn't apply to non-alcoholic beverages.

Reservations need to be made in person on boarding day.It will be busy but it's best to go and book what times you want as soon as you can.
As for breakfast and lunch, it is a strict royal policy that JS are not able to come in for those times. If you show up, you will not be seated. THAT SAID...on a recent harmony sailing in a JS we got a call from Coastal Kitchen on the second to last day inviting us to lunch complimentary. We hadn't asked about it or anything like that, my guess is that numbers were low up there for lunches so they were offering dining to guests that normally wouldn't have been allowed. We didn't look a gift horse too much in the mouth so not sure if there were any additional factors that played into that (the fact that we were diamond, that we had only been in 1 other time that sailing, the fact that we only had 2 dinner reservations for the whole sailing etc). So...yeah..that happened and it is SUCH a YMMV scenario I only bring it up because it *did* happen not that it *will* happen

CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in How do you book your cruise?
Our very first cruise we called and booked over the phone because we were taking advantage of a Cruise and Universal Studios package that royal used to offer and it was nigh impossible to book that online as first timers.
Our second and third cruises we booked online ourselves.
Everything after that we have booked through next cruise on board to get that sweet sweet suite OBC

CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from VAbound2000 in Room Service Tips
They do always call for morning room service ordered the night before ( I would imagine they don't bother calling if you call down to order). Sometimes its 20 minutes before...but most times I swear they are calling while the cart is in the elevator because the knock on the door will come less than 5 minutes after the call.

CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from Richard M in On Board Booking
Since we always book suites and suites don't have a reduced deposit, we like to book on board solely for the OBC. It's the only place you are promised OBC without having to pay extra on the base fare for the free money.

CrimsonCruiser reacted to HeWhoWaits in Should there be another tier in the Crown & Anchor loyalty program?
All this talk about something between D+ and Pin got me thinking.
Maybe what's needed is a level ABOVE Pinnacle. Call it the Super Mario.

CrimsonCruiser got a reaction from Heymarco in WOW Royal C&A does not want to send me my crystal block!
Yeah I think they changed it to this design early last year. I know there's an article by Matt floating around.
I've gotten used to the new look but still think the simple etching of the old one was more classy.
