  1. 13 cruises and can only recall one incident that wasn't even an incident ... guy was so drunk he was sleeping in the schooner bar. Security was professional, spoke to him, and escorted him to (I assume) his cabin. As others have said, people might get loud but that's the alcohol, everyone needs to be heard over the next person, or cannot hear themselves. LOL! As a comparison, 5 minutes into a land trip to London where some soccer event just ended there was a fight in the street between the people in front of us, who were causing trouble ... we quickly turned around to not be in their radius.
  2. Same here. My max will vary on the length of the sailing but given a 7 night sailing, $55 - $60 is pushing it. After 18% $55 - $60 for two turns into $908.60 - $991.20 and I'm not convinced we will hit $1000 dollars in alcohol even if we drank like we had the package. My wife drinks more now than when we first started cruising (migraine issues that she's finally getting under control) we were hitting about $500 (give or take). I was also drinking a lot of bud lights back then, I've since stepped it up :). So, I think that $900 range is really pushing it for me. I'd only consider that much on Harmony 2020 cruise because 3 sea days and CocoCay, so we will probably drink a decent amount. (Plus we are celebrating her "29th" bday.) So, think what I am saying is, my range is $55 - $60 but other variables can tweak that.
  3. It's an overnight so it struck me as odd tendering. Either way, since Bayonne is my "home port" it's one I'm watching.
  4. Yes, very exciting. However, Empress advertises as tendering in St. George, she's small enough to dock, no?
  5. Welcome @Ashbee262! I agree with the renew (as will almost anyone else) but I'd like to add for others stumbling across this, if your passport is less than a year old there isn't a charge to change your name and get a new one. A lesson my wife and I learned ... the expensive way! ?
  6. You got me! 5 day cruise, 5 boxes it is!
  7. If I recall (almost a year) Texas Holdem didn't have big blinds (well it had a big blind ;)) they were something like 1/2, 1/3, 2/4 ... Nothing to break a bank... However, only one table and it was usually crowded and of course the same people playing every night. No signup that I recall, just stand around and wait, however, make it known you want an available seat to dealer/table or someone might sneak in before you. (That has always been my experience anyway). Roulette if I recall was also a $5 or $10 minimum. I'll pay closer attention in September.
  8. Exactly why I will just bring plastic straws! However, you've made me realize to spring for the ones individually wrapped so I can toss a few anywhere! Edit: Just went on Amazon and bought 200 individually wrapped straws for $8.00, I spent a little extra for the colorful ones. With upwards of 14 friends on board, I should buy two boxes LOL!
  9. Yep ... I love me a double burger! Might finally take the triple plunge next cruise. Ugh! Always! I make a comment every time.
  10. I like this idea the best. Not that metal straws are expensive, but seems easier to carry a bunch (maybe 10?) on you and just go back to stateroom for more. You can even be kind and give them out. I have no problem reusing a plastic straw (I do it at home), just less worry of losing it or cleaning it or whatever.
  11. Yep, same. My base for September Anthem sailing was $70 dollars, the sales were consistent for the last year: $56 for 20% and $52 for BOGO50 and as expected the 30% was $49 just a few weeks ago. Now, the BOGO50 is $61 dollars making the base price $81.3333 (repeat).
  12. Wow, even if you call (maybe a few times) complaining to Royal Caribbean that the service is poor?
  13. For me, SWA just doesn't seem to have many direct flights to my destinations from ALB or NYC airports so that's the biggest factor. However, I am like you, very picky about seat selection.
  14. Welcome! Not knowing about The Key alone says find a new agent, transfer the booking and write the $35 off. As a first time cruiser you will definitely benefit from someone who doesn't see you as a $ sign. MEI is a sponsor of this board, I'd suggest starting with them. (disclaimer, not an MEI customer but thinking about it for my next cruise - which I booked directly but should still be in the transfer window.)
  15. Lots of great suggestions to save the money on early bird. I flew SW twice, once we got early bird another time we didn't. (Neither for cruises.) Honestly, in your situation, I'd at least do early bird for the return flight. Even if I had internet on the ship. Between the worry it would lag right at the 24 hour mark, I'd forget or miss my reminder, have to plan my day around it, or rely on someone else ... Blah, it's a small insurance policy for me.
  16. Yep. I noticed it yesterday for my September sailing on Anthem. I got it at $49 luckily, but the base price I calculated was also $81 or $82 a person. Was difficult to get exact because of that weird thing they do with BOGO half off. I was totally shocked. Never thought the base price would rise. I immediately texted a cruise virgin buddy who is joining saying "please tell me you got the package when I said" ... LOL ... He did, phew!
  17. Yes. My wife will probably "break even" or better, however, she's the type of person who will want another drink but not get it due to price. So, if it's all included, she has no excuse and can stop worrying about money and enjoy herself. Edit: with the recent price hikes I don't see her breaking even, but the convenience factor will be added in and we will get it for our 2020 sailings. Our next cruise, a bunch of friends will be with us, hence why my wife will probably break even, but when we purchased, we assumed she wouldn't but the extra cost was fine due to convenience.
  18. I've seen Zima recently in our local beer store.
  19. Just to echo, yep, the porters will take just about anything you hand them. We have even given them garment bags with the hangers hanging out and all! A few bucks and start that vacation, let the porters do the hard work for you! ?
  20. Yes. I've heard that before (years ago) as long as you can communicate back to the ship, they will try and wait, they don't want to leave anyone behind either.
  21. NICE! I really need to book Celebrity for the 7 night to Bermuda, it stays in Kings Wharf the entire time, but that's okay.
